MS project as any other microsoft product is costly and you need to think before you use it.
Features
good report genration.
Beautiful GUI
Disadvantage
lacks simulation and other calculations.
create schedule on what algorithms.
no flexibility to choose your own algorithm.
If you r really a good project manager/researcher u will find MS Project is working
with unknown hidden algorithms which need not nessecery that it will suit your needs.
I would like to say that It is a beutifying tool.I have seen various opensource softwares
like<A href='https://industrialonline.net'>Manage-XPS (https://industrialonline.net )</A>which can simulate your project duration to
minimize resource profile peaks.It also has resource allocation algorithm based n various
priority rules.Yu hav flexibility to choose any one of them.
you can't use Msproject as stand alone application for your all calculation you hav to either
develop and pick up some of the open source tools for analysis.
