Maheshwar, not actually a big tourist spot, is a small town in the Khargone Distt. of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of around 90 kilometers from Indore and is situated at the northern banks of Narmada River!
The nearest railway station is around 40 km away and the nearest airport is Devi Ahilyabai Airport of Indore. That makes sense that the town is accessible only by road transport.
Not being a rich town or destination, it is not well developed as a tourist place but yet, it is a good place to spend the weekend. There are many temples to visit and the best is the Narmada ghat which is a good spot for visitors to have fun. Recently, the movie Padman starring Akshay Kumar has been shot here and so, the place has been cleaned and re developed to make it ready for a movie.
I dont recommend long visits and stays at Maheshwar as there are not good hotels present there and only a few hotels and lodges are available. But for people who wants to hangout for Saturday or Sunday, Maheshwar is a good choice of place!
