This review is not about service, coverage, support etc. But the heavily advertised 1 sec. billing over billboards and newspaper.
Well the fact is that 1 sec billing is not a 1 sec bill. Logically, if say 1 sec will cost you 2 paise - if you talk for 5 secs you should be billed 10 paise right? Well, wrong!
You will be charged 10 paise + 60 paise interconnect charges = 80 Paise
Well as other networks charge you fix 99 Paise or Rs. 1.99 for a 60 sec call - what will BPL charge for 60 sec.?
120 Paise + 60 paise = 1.80
Now everyone else charges rental for the base scheme Rs. 100 or Rs. 150 - BPL has increased the rentals from Rs. 149 to Rs. 175
So you pay Rs. 26 extra rentals, interconnect charges of 60 paise for every call you make, 2 paise for every sec you call and the clip charges Rs. 75.
This is a very expensive deal! The ads are very misleading, I changed by bill plan (They charged me Rs. 100 for the same) and then I have seen almost 80% rise in my bills.
I request all mouthshut readers to stay away from scheme which has this hidden charges, also people at BPL are so smart that they will never tell you about the interconnect charges. They won't mention it anywhere. If you don't investigate your bills you will never come to know about it. This is a open fraud - one of its kind.
