I just completed this book in 7 hours flat...yeah yeah m a voracious reader but this fast pace out of my limits ...Its the book that managed to do the feat and not me..absorbing for 7 long countinous hours ..
I know its hard to believe...thats hard to believe for me too...I mean 7 hours and 48 ciggarettes later I had a different view on animals, humanity and novels...thats changing a persons view or horizon completely... K lemme start with the book ..its a amazing tale of a fighter or survivor who made it through all the odds...
Pisssing patel ..(yeah thats his name ..beleive me) is a average kid with sweet memories of his childhood in pondicherry ..though he is a follower of 3 religions ..(and I'm an atheist to the blood)..the story actually starts when pi`s (that is pronounced as pie) parent decide to migrate to Canada..in search of a better tom...and yeah just to mention they own a ZOO...yeah full of different animals...
The japanese cargo ship in which they are travelling sinks in mid pacific..along with the animals..pi is stranded on a life boat along with few animals...one of them being Richard Parker..a white bengal tiger..(yeah a weird name..but thats coz of a goof up)..Richard his lone partner through his ordeal ..which lasts for a good 227 days ..initially PI is afraid of him ..but then he manages to develope a certain relationship of command with richard..thats one of the best potrayal of a relationship I ever came across..
Both depending on each other without ever crossing each others space or territory..the adventure moves on and on creating more interest...finally pi is rescued and no one beleives his ordeal..specially the japanese... Its a inspirational story ....of how to keep on living and fighting all the odds and hardships that come your way..well I would have described couple of incidents form the book..but I prefer not to ..as its for you to read and enjoy it ...
One thought for the Yann Martel ...man o man hats off to u ..one of the best writers I have come through ...amazing sense of writing, humour and panache...kudos to the book and the author...please guys read this book for some excitement...
