Its way back in March 2008 when I visited this place in covering the destinations of North East India. We stayed here at Hotel White Lily. We visited Yumthang Valley. It is a nice little valley in midst of the mountains. It is a good scenic beauty.
After that we visited Mt.Katao which is the epitome of sikkim beauty, which even Yumthang does not offer. We took army permission to visit this place. After that we visited Lachung Monastery, Lachung which provides views of the countryside and the entire Lachung Valley. Thereafter we visited one sanctuary called Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which is known to have 40 different species of rhododendron shrubs amidst the snow-covered mountains. We saw some trees of poppies, gentians, potentillas and aconites. There are a few endangered animals inhabiting the sanctuary like the spotted lingsang or the tiger-civet.
Overall we got heaven feeling here in this visit.
