One of my cousin is currently studying in Jnit right now, he is in first year of engineering having branch computer science when I visited this college I found good infrastructure only study is average few teachers of subjects like maths and physics are good in other subject they are not good.
coming to the placements: this year four to five componies came but most of it belongs to the BPO sector which is not useful for engineering graduates because even a intermediate passed boy can get this job
so first search more about college and then took decesion to come into this college
it is my personal advice to find some college or university in south india
because there you will found a dramatic change in you if you survived there anyhow.
