Hi
I have traveled in Indian trains(IRCTC) several times, I have so many to share, but I'll list out few key points and worst experiences I had in this.
Experience 1:
I had booked a train from MS to MDU and noticed that the seat is torn apart and the metal frame is clearly visible in side upper berth. I have showed that to TTE he didn't say anything and left with his primary job to evaluate tickets. I thought of complaining but it was already very late and I needed a place to rest. 8hrs spent on that miserable place.
Experience 2:
I booked a ticket like 2 weeks in advance when it was in RAC, I had hoped that it will get confirmed. But unfortunately it didn't and I had to share a seat in such a way that I had to smell a co-passenger feet. I wonder why IRCTC had brought such thing as RAC, why do we pay full price for a half seat? sounds unfair isn't it?
Experience 3:
Toilets uncleaned for months in a compartment. No vessels or water to wash, I thought I could use the other one from other compartments. Most of them were like that and luckily I found a one which was better in appearance after 3 or 4 coaches.
Experience 4:
"2S" reservation, where there will be a place of two and 3 person has to squeeze and sit.
Pro:
.Cheaper compared to other private transport like Omni buses
.Cheaper foods
.Less traffic disruptions
Cons:
.Unclean
.Lacking maintenance
.Trains always running late
.Any vendors can supply food or sell anything inside the train, who knows whether its hygienic or not
.Watery IRCTC tea and coffee
.Nowadays we dont get SMS confirmation about the status of our ticket. Either use app or call railway enquiry
.Fans are dusty and upper berth person has to inhale all the dust and get sick
.Higher cancellation fee
.Tatkal booking has become such a way like winning a lottery.
Hope you find it useful, please improve the services
