Locally known as Bohri Mohalla, the four lanes west of Ebrahim Rehmatulla Rd., Bhendi Bazaar, Bombay is a boundary less colony of Bombay’s Dawoodi Bohra Muslims. The Bohras are a community known for their soft and peaceful nature as also for their taste for better things in life including of food, hence the four lanes have number of eateries that cater to probably every diet. During Ramadhan / Ramazan the place goes on an overdrive preparing special delicacies for those who fast, however it is on offer for everybody.
Of the many eateries, the best to serve you BBQ is none other than Haji Tikka Centre. Situated on Raudat Tahera Street (Dhaboo Street), Haji Tikka is a small joint that has the capacity to cater to only 36 people at a time. However it has its own little out-door stand-serve right next to Hamza Fast Food across the street.
Aboutthe food, well Haji Tikka Serves you the most delicious, juiciest and palatable charcoal BBQ at steal of a price. Haji’s Mutton Seekh Kebabs and Chicken Seekh Kebabs are usually so well done that they literally melt in the mouth, these go well with their deep fried parathas, a skewer of this luscious seekh kebab cost just Rs.14/-. Equally soft are their well done Boti Tikka and Chiken Tikkas at Rs. 14/- and Rs. 20 a skewer. Chicken Liver Tikkaand Mutton Liver Tikka are the next best on their menu worth a bite. However what comes as the best, at this joint is Khiri (Udder) Tikka, these are well done and melt-in-the-mouth kind unlike the once served at other places. The whole Chicken Leg and Chicken Breasts at Rs. 35/- and Rs.30/- respectively are fine if you want to have a complete meal, these go well with bread nans. Also on the menu are Pomfrets BBQ, Golh Kebabs, Chicken Sandwiches, Burgers, etc but the rest don’t fall even close the heavenly taste of their BBQs.
Mostof Haji’s fare is medium spiced and served hot, however they do serve green chilly chutney that is chilly hot. The other condiments being unending servings of mint leaves and onion rings to bite on with the food.
A meal four in this place would be around Rs. 250/- to Rs. 350/-
