Bollywood director Rohan Sippy bonding again with Abhishek Bachchan after Bluff Master success. With Dum Maro Dum movie actor Daggubati Rana debuting in Bollywood too. Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar, Aditya Pancholi played important roles in this film. Let’s see how this movie goes.
Story: Dum Maro Dum is about the life of people connected with Goa, their businessmen and politicians, who makes Goa as the capital for drugs in India. DMD shows the lifestyle of couple of characters attached with Goa. Assistan Commissioner of Police Vishnu Kamath(Abhishek Bachchan) comes to Goa to hunt down and find the drugs rocket and clean the city. Lorsa Biscuita / Biscuit(Aditya Pancholi) is a local business man and also works as a drug dealer. Biscuit uses poor and young middle class people to run his business, Biscuit plays a major role in criminal activities done in Goa.
Lorry(Prateik Babbar) one innocent boy falls in the trap of Biscuit. Police arrests Lorry, his friend Joki(Daggubati Rana) after knowing this news tries to help his friend to get out of the drug mafia. Bipasha Basu is an airhostess, she follows the overseas customs along with locals to buff up her life style. Will ACP Kamath able to find the man who is behind Biscuit, will he able to control the drug mafia etc forms the rest of story.(As an ambitious youth he did a FAB job.As a victim.awesome portrayal of emotions)
Performances: Abhishek Bachchan was good as a tough cop, he did his work in a good way as required from him. His personality and looks were good as a Police, Abhishek role was better than this recent releases. Rana debut in Bollywood was interesting, he looked pale in couple of scenes but later he covered up. In climax scenes he was effective.
Bipasha Basu looked beautiful and she did her bit as required. Deepika Padukone sizzled in DMD title song, her special appearance was good and raunchy.Prateik Babbar was usual and was best suited to that role. Govind Namdeo, Aditya Pancholi were brilliant.
Dum Maro Dum is another multiplex movie, which mostly suits to the class audience. Rohan Sippy worked well on couple of scenes and dialogues, screenplay was good. DMD has many foreign films elements of crime and action, twists and story narration was good. The movie is not for masses, it has both ups and downs. Rana characterisation was not so good, as it was his debut film. On a whole I'm going with 3 out of 5.
