I had transited thru DXB 7 times before this experience last week. The difference this time was I was holidaying in Dubai. So had to go to their immigration this time. As many of the fellow reviewers said, the walk is long and tiring. My old parents were also with us for this vacation and it was a difficult walk for them but thats OK. No signs anywhere except for separate lines for First/Business & Skywards Gold members. We had a 30 day Single entry tourist visa. We stood in a queue like anyone else and after 45 minutes of inching towards the counter, we were told that we had to get our eye scanned. Absolute frustration set in then because there was not a single sign or anybody to inform us that we had to get our eyes scanned before proceeding to immigration. Then we stood in the eye scan line for 15 minutes and after that proceeded to the immi counters again. On the way, I made the mistake of asking an Arab security official that we had a bad experience. He immediately started shouting in broken English and asked us rudely to join the line once again. I felt that the Arabs are very racist people who dont know a thing about courtesy. I guess white people are treated better. The point is they did not realize that I am a dollar spending tourist and not a manual laborer. Have been to 7 countries before UAE and always immigration officials greeted me with a smile. Also in general found the Arabs to be rude and not courteous. Would never go back to UAE again on any visa!
