DakshinaChitra is located in ECR(East Coast Road). I went there 1 month ago. It is one of the best museum I have ever seen and well known cultural center. This museum was opened in 1996 which covers an area of 10 acres land.
It is a heritage village where the lifestyle of south Indians are displayed based on their states . This museum consists of 18 heritage houses representing the lifestyle of the people from various states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala etc.
The museum also contains arts, crafts, and also nooks and journals related to south Indian culture. The crafts men also show how to make those items. I was actually sitting and spending time in the verandah of each and every house and took more beautiful picture.
One feels nostalgic when you go around the pants and trees. It gave me a good refreshment and it was a pleasant atmosphere. The aesthetic value is t good that it contains history of lifestyle of south Indian people.One can attain a peace in their mind when they visit this museum. The visiting hours is 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday is holiday .The entry fee is quiet reasonable and the value for money is also good. I would like to recommend all people to visit this place atleast once in the lifetime.
