As a concerned observer of the CBSE education system, I feel compelled to speak up about the board's inconsistent and often unfair handling of exams and evaluation over the past two years, especially for Class 10 students.
In the 2024 Class 10 board exams, students were subjected to drastically different question paper sets. Particularly in Mathematics, Set 3 was extremely tough, while the other two sets were noticeably easier. Yet, no grace marks were awarded to those who received the tougher set. How is it fair that a student's future is affected just because of the set they randomly received?
The English paper correction was another issue. Many students across the same centers or roll number series ended up getting identical marks, suggesting a major error in correction. These mistakes directly impact student morale and trust in the system.
Fast forward to 2025, and we now see the opposite problem. The evaluation this year has been far too liberal, with many average-performing students scoring above 90%. This inconsistency only adds to the confusion. Those same students will now face Class 12 board exams in 2027, likely with tougher papers and unpredictable correction patterns. Is this the preparation CBSE wants to give them?
Why is there such a lack of balance and transparency in the CBSE system? These fluctuations in question difficulty, marking schemes, and evaluation methods are not just unfairthey are damaging to student mental health. Its causing panic, stress, and uncertainty among students and parents alike.
CBSE must take urgent action to standardize paper difficulty, ensure error-free correction, and establish a consistent evaluation policy. Education should empower students, not traumatize them.
