Bruhadeshwar temple is situated in Thanjavur city .The temple is also known as big temple because of its huge gopura and the size of the temple as whole .
It was the biggest temple built at that time . it's gopura is over 60m high and the shikara is made out two rocks weighing 40 tonne each .
Chola temples are the pride of South India, their cultural influences was sculptured on the walls of the temple .
The temple is must see for art lovers and those who like anthropology to study human faith and actions . the paintings in the temple still holds on even after 1000 years . the temple was completely built in 2012. It took seven years to build it . but its glory has never been diminished . great rajaraja chola and more great are his great living chola temples
