For 2010, this year has started with a fraudulent transaction on my credit card. The card is HDFC Bank Credit card and I have a Verified by Visa(VBV)/ SecureCode password which was mandated in August 2009 by RBI. This has not stopped someone from doing a fraudulent transaction on my credit card and it was used for an online transaction on Yatra online Pvt. Ltd two days back for Air Ticket.
As soon as I got the sms of the transaction I called the bank and blocked my card and I also went to the Cyber crime Police station and got the police compliant acknowledged by the Sr. Inspector of police of the cyber Police station.
I am now waiting for the bank to respond for them to refund the transaction which I anticipate to be a long wait. I would like to inform the general public about this misuse and be vigilant and avoid taking credit cards from any bank. As always All banks take their own time about refunds/investigation etc and till then the customer is the loser.
