Asus zenfone 5 is a really sturdy phone. I have been using it for almost a year and till now no problems with it. No lag becauae of 2gb ram and intel processor. Screen protection with gorilla glass. It did fall couple of times by me but phone is still intact. The only problem with the phone is poor battery life which hardly last a day. Personally iam satisfied with zenfone and asus brand.
If you are looking to buy a new phone you can give asus a try with lot of options available from asus these days.
