This is my second smart phone. The first one was an LG incite 810 based on Windows Mobile 6.0. I had a very bad experience with the first one and I decided to go for iPhone 3G.
I had heard mostly positive reviews from iPhone and hence I did not hesitate to get one despite an upfront cost and a mandatory data plan from AT&T. The iPhone is very well designed phone. The user interface is very simple and unique. The icons and large enough to use as a touch screen without the need of a stylus.
By default, the Home screen contains the following icons: Messages (SMS and MMS messaging), Calendar, Photos, Camera, YouTube, Stocks, Maps (Google Maps), Weather, Voice Memos, Notes, Clock, Calculator, Settings, iTunes (store), App Store. On top of this you have access to thousands of other iPhone Apps through iTunes store. Some of which are free and some are charged.
The data plan is actually a boon for a device like iPhone. You can browse the web, check emails, use google maps and check the weather while you are on the move. When you are at home I will recommend using the home Wifi as its much faster that AT&T data connection.
iPhone is actually much bigger than similar smart phones which enables it to have quite a large screen. This large screen makes it perfect to watch videos or view pictures. More over it also acts as your iPod to play music, Videos etc.
Overall a well designed phone with great styling and performance.
