I live in Whitefield area Bangalore and I had been using Airtel 3G for around six months on an Airtel 7.2 Mbps USB dongle. Last week my **speed dropped to a maximum of 64 kilobits/second and I thought its a network issue but it remained so for a week now. I tried to check the speed on my friends airtel sim by activating 3g and it was the same in his case too. I tried to contact customer care multiple times but they were not ready to help because my SIM card is from other circle.
Since data charges are same all over india and data usage is not affected by roaming so I use the original SIM card I got with the dongle instead of buying a new SIM. I emailed bb.support@in.airtel.com regarding this and they asked for my address and all, but finally they asked me to call 18001034405. I called and they gave me the no to my circles customer care. I am in loop with these Airtel people. I think other people must be experiencing similar problem as I tested with different laptop, SIM, location as well as dongle. **The signal strength is full in my dongle application.
It also shows HSPDA which is 7.2 Mbps connection. Sadly I will have to switch to some other ISP. I had just recharged with Rs 750 which gives 4 GB data for 30 days. More than 3.5 GB is still left but I cannot use it at such low speed.
