I have been going to 5 Elements for about 3years. The cost of being a member is 12k a month, a huge amount of money for the service you get. To get to the showers you have to walk through dirty pools of water and used towels are left littering the changing room benches. The staff are really smiley when dealing with potential new customers, but there is never anyone around to help with advice unless you pay for 10 sessions with a personal trainer.
At summer it gets really hot, they say they have installed improved air con, but trust me it is like a green house!
On the positive side, the guests of the gym are young, very friendly and there are no grunting body builders. However just recently I have noticed lots of polish builders have started to hang around in groups, which has changed the tone a bit. The gym layout is extremely well designed with great mood lighting and good facilities. The blue pool is gorgeous, but often has a scum of dead skin around the edges.
This gym used to be a great place to come, sadly the couldn't care less attitude of the staff really lets the place down. If you visit you will see feedback forms etc, but no one ever responds to them!
Over the years I have made a lot of friends at the gym, but gradually most of them have got sick of complaining and left to go somewhere else. I only wish there was some competition or a manager who cared. I have never met a manager there in the 3 years I have been going.
Finally, if you call up they will never give you a price, if you negotiate you will not pay a joining fee. But don't bother joining if you can find somewhere better!
