The Golden Eagle beer sold in Madras and Tamil Nadu is an insult to the illustrous name of Mohan Meakins. I recall Golden Eagle beer back in the 1960's and '70's when my father would open a bottle and the splendid aroma of beer would pervade the room. I recall being initiated into the golden brew and for me Indian beer would always be Golden Eagle.
However for the last few years the Golden Eagle beer available in Madras is attrocious. It stinks and smells of open drains and gives an impression of being bottled from the Cooum river or Buckingham canal of Madras. IT STINKS, IT SMELLS AND RIPS UP THE WHOLE TOWN.
Its a pity that due to the monopoly enjoyed by the manufacturer this product has been allowed to deteriorate and bring disrepute to the the Mohan Meakin brand.
