Every one is fond of sherlock holmes by arthur conon doyle. 221B baker;'s street hero is very intelligent and can solve anything by his "science of deduction"

Serials has three season and each season has three episodes of approximately 50 Minutes length. Benedict cumberbatch, martin freeman are main characters in the serial. The new season of sherlock is due in this year end or may be early 2016.

The serial adopts to this time and that is the biggest success.

Andrew scott is Moriarty and has acted incredibly well.

This is the best show I have ever watched. This is the show in which every moment had twist. The most dominant character SHERLOCK who solve the cases quite easily & smartly. This is the series which is mostly viewed & very popular among the viewers. I watched all the three seasons & desperately waiting for the fourth season . This show shows how a man briefly can think of on a single point.

This is the best tv series I have ever seen. I have always been a fan of sherlock holmes from a very long time and I have read many books and watched almost all the movies of him. But this was the best because the character who is playing the role of sherlock is perfect. If you have read the books then you would see that he is doing a great job. T

he way he is speaks and acts is the same as givan in the book. The stories were really  awesome. This is an awesome tv series to watch for those who really are a very big fan of sherlock.

Sherlock – ed!
Mar 24, 2015 09:51 PM

Sherlock Holmes, the eccentric, anti social and exceptionally observant character by Conan Doyle, created in 1887 has been re created several times since.

Robert Downey Jr did an exceptional job as Sherlock Holmes in the movie franchise. Although the performance was remarkable the premise when compared to the BBC version of Sherlock was utterly lack luster.

The BBC version is extremely well choreographed with scintillating performances by Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Una Stubbs, Amanda Abington, Mark Gatiss and many others.

One of the most spine chilling performances delivered on silver screen would be that of Andrew Scott as Jim Moriarty.  The casting is immaculate. Jim looks like a harmless, closeted gay, average English man but that’s just a façade to cover up his immense intelligence and remarkable IQ.

Creators Mark Gartiss who also essays the character of Mycroft Holmes and Steven Moffat have by far delivered the best rendition of Sherlock Holmes till date. They have not only twisted the plot to entice the ever curious and perpetually ‘seeking for more’ today’s generation but they have also lifted the parameters of crime & thriller genre.

Amazing script: each season gets better, punches are more powerful, and the psychological aspects of all the characters revealed through each season - fascinating. I'm quite critical, yes there are some cheesy bits, but I simply love them all- 1- because it gets balanced out with the rest of the 2- teverything else on TV is mostly crap:

I am comparing it with the show 'Elementary'(yuck! flat! boring. horrible that they have put such blandness on TV and wasted money), the ridiculous CSI shows where they have that computer geek dressed like a circus on feet and behaving as if her character is one of prime importance whenshe is simply overacting and the rest of characters are too busy leaving their glamorous blond hair strands on crime scenes to implicate themselves which obviously doesn't happen as they are they are always the good guys. Yuck.childish enid blyton stuff. Ok, now that that's out of the system, yes, back to Sherlock: Love everyone's acting. Very real like and engaging, wonderful wonderful music, amazing direction as well. For these things the cheesy bits are more than forgivable. Oh Cumberbatch, you and Hobbit 'Watson' are brilliant. keep up the great 'out of this world' acting:-) Love it.

Sherlock the best adapttion of the sherlock series
Jul 29, 2013 05:23 PM

Sherlock Holmes the detective from 221B baker street, we shall never get enough of this brilliant and cunning detective. Even after a century, Sir Conan Doyle detective can trick your brain by his observation and its talent.

Sherlock series has fit the great detective in 21st century, I had assumed that the story would be same but for my surprise the name is only the same the story has been twisted and changed to fit it to modern world.

The cast performance is also great.

I am awaiting for the 3rd season to be aired.

Best Sherlock Holmes adaptation ever!
Dec 28, 2012 02:32 AM

Being a fan of Sir Arthur Conon Doyle's Sherlock Holmes since childhood I just'had to see' this show. Right from  the 1st episode I could tell  'BBC Sherlock' is going to be exceptional and I am really happy that I was not wrong. Two seasons, 6 episodes later it is one one the best TV shows I have ever seen.

  1. It is innovative & fresh in its own way since its a modern take on Sherlock.

  2. It is thrilling, pacy & full of suspense(just the perfect mix you would want in mystery genre).

  3. Casting is perfect, right from Benedict Cumberbatch(as Sherlock)  to Martin freeman(as Watson)

to Mrs Hudson to DI Lestrade, everyone is an excellent actor & does justice to their character.

  1. Has some really big names like Mark Gatiss & Steven Moffat associated with it.

I highly recommend everyone to watch this show. And if you are a Sherlock fan you are in for a treat. So, whatever you do, don't miss  this one.!

BBC's Sherlock: A perfect 'Ben'-edication!!!
Jul 24, 2012 10:27 PM

A concoction of splendid cinematography, brilliant writing, breath-taking performances, incredible direction, and phenomenal background music- BBC’s Sherlock is undoubtedly, one of the best things to have happened to the television industry in the recent times.

A modern adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s - Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, BBC’s ‘Sherlock’ departures from the Victorian era to land in the modern day London and makes use of the hip technology to solve the murder mysteries along with of course, his very much perfected ‘science of deduction’. Instead of the canonical cigar pipe and the celebrated ‘deerstalker cap’, this high functional socio-path (as he likes to call himself) finds his mind functioning better with the aid of nicotine patches and devoid of any ‘head covering’. This in fact, goes a long way in enhancing his allure by giving his female colleagues a chance to fancy running their fingers through his dark & lovely curly locks. Perfect evidence of this is in the form of the pathologist Molly Hooper – a character who springs up quite regularly in the show and someone who goes into a swoon for a second or two, every time her eyes meet the gorgeous blue peepers of Sherlock Holmes.

With the creative geniuses of Steven Moffat (who’s also the current producer of ‘Doctor Who’ - another famous BBC tele-serial) and Mark Gatiss behind ‘Sherlock’, the show is a pure delight for the thriller-lovers as well as the fans of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman - who have undeniably given outstanding performances to their roles of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson respectively.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock is a maddeningly intelligent sleuth who’s given a murder mystery to solve when the police runs out of its depth, a phenomenon that occurs almost ‘always’, according to him. And not to mention, the more puzzling the mystery is, the more interested he becomes in unraveling it. Reading someone’s entire career through the kind of haircut one adorns and blurting out the exact details about a woman’s adulterous escapades by a mere glance at her jewelery, are a few examples of what it takes this Sherlock to become completely indispensable to the police that otherwise, loathes him tons for his blunt and arrogant nature. Oozing oodles of energy, Sherlock’s mind works like an ever-thinking machine, bereft of any emotion and feelings. Eccentric, dynamic, extremely sharp and enigmatic, he is a man who least bothers about social graces and won’t take a minute to insult you if your intellect doesn’t matches his. And there comes Doctor John Watson, a retired army man, his flat-mate and the only close pal that he has, who keeps making earnest attempts in order to humanize this machine every so often.

If Cumberbatch is non-convertibly the best Sherlock Holmes ever, then Freeman’s Watson is the one who holds the show together. Without his flinches, cringes and cute smiles, the show is definitely incomplete. The duo’s ‘bromance’ is what is to be watched for, and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Another important factor that makes ‘Sherlock’ a must-watch detective show is the brilliant casting of the characters of Jim Moriarty (Sherlock’s arch enemy) and Mycroft (the brother of Sherlock). Played by Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss (who’s also the co-creator of Sherlock) respectively, these characters make sure that you’re always on the edge of your seats while watching the series.

All in all, it won’t be an exaggeration to say that BBC’s Sherlock is pure brilliance and trust me, this is the best thing that I’ve seen for a long time ‘on-screen’ be it Hollywood, Bollywood or Indian or on International television. Each and every 90-minute episode (of total six – 3 in the first season and 3 in the 2nd one) is a treat to the eyes, and a ‘benedict’ion to the soul. A high cheek boned and blue-eyed ‘Benedict Cumberbatch’ has entered the skin of the world’s most popular fictional character, so beautifully, that it is now impossible to separate him from him. He’s undoubtedly, given the best face to our modern-day Sherlock and even a million words of appreciation won’t be enough to describe the talent that this 36 year old Brit actor possesses. Hats off to this extremely kind, good-looking, humble and well-grounded (you gotta watch his interviews to know how great a human being he is) actor who’s got every female in the world, who’s watched his ‘Sherlock’ going crazy for him!

Here’s what has been aired so far:

Season 1

1.A Study in Pink:As for its review, the more you say is the lesser. More than the serial-suicide mystery, this episode will be long etched in the minds of the audiences across the continents, because of various other reasons. The way all the characters are introduced, how Sherlock meets John, the streets of London, the unkempt rooms of 221B Baker Street, Mrs. Hudson who’s the proud land lady and not the ‘housekeeper’, the sorry state of inspector Lestrade, the speech of Anderson that ‘lowers the IQ of the entire street’, the crush of Molly and the cute & funny Mycroft- and so much more! I have watched this episode about 5 times by now.

2.The Blind Banker- This one was more like a movie than an episode…something similar to the movie adaptation of Dan Brown’s book- Angels & Demons, the only difference being that the latter was a pure disaster while the Sherlock’s ‘Blind Banker’ was edgy, pacy, and thrilling. It was quite an elaborated one and required the viewer to make note of many bits and pieces splattered across the entire episode and finally, put together all to get a sense of what actually was happening. Perhaps, this is the reason why many found it a far- too- stretched and intricate. I personally, enjoyed it a lot but had to watch it twice to understand it fully. J

3.The Great Game:This was full time ‘paisa wasool’ coz it encapsulated five different cases in just one episode. In spite of having so much to handle, the show doesn’t falter one bit. The viewers are kept on the edge of their seats throughout the show-thanks to the brilliant piece of writing, superb dialogues and the great Sher-John chemistry. The best about this episode was the much-awaited revelation of the dreaded Moriarty and the cliffhanger in the end, which left the viewers desperately waiting for the next season to air..!

Season 2

1.A Scandal in Belgravia: Watch it to see the deadliest enemy of Sherlock confronting him right in his face in the form of ‘love’ and how he uses his intelligence to escape from it. ‘Irene Adler’ played by Lara Pulver comes across as a perfect match to the great mind that Sherlock has, and impresses him to the extent of ‘almost’ beating him in his own game. A sensually-thrilling episode to say the least!

2.The Hounds of Baskerville: He escaped from one of his enemies in the previous episode but here’s another one ready to stun him again out of his senses. Sherlock experiences ‘fear’ in Baskerville and the man who had always kept himself distant from feeling, goes through a shocking experience in this one. This episode’s cinematography is heavenly and therefore, makes it another must-watch!

3.The Riechenbach Fall : I can go on and on and on and on and on to write about it. But I fear I might blurt out what’s not to be revealed. It makes a lot of sense for me to just shut up on this one and let all of you go through this experience all by yourself.

I think it’s the best and the most frustrating one of all.. Decide for yourself..

Sherlock reborn !!
Apr 10, 2012 01:56 PM

Honestly, a show of hands . From our childhood days, who all among us has not wished to grow up to be as smart as Sherlock Holmes. Ok, yes, I know, you can put your hands down now. I know I wanted to be many things as a child(like a doctor, a sculptor, a crocodile, a dinosaur, a poet, a writer, Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones to name just a few) right from 1st grade till 9th before life got a bit serious. Sherlock Holmes has been an idol for most growing kids. The art of deduction about a person/ object by just a glance was something which was first used by Sir Aurthor Conan Doyle in his stories and has been later on inspired the deduction techniques many top intelligence organisations of the world use today, first being their very own Scotland Yard.

BBC has done many different renditions of the Sherlock Holmes stories and I loved them all but there is something different about the latest one.

This British tele series presents a contemporary update of Sir Doyle's original stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. In this version of Sherlock Holmes, the stories have been very pleasantly modified to gel into today's times where the criminals are more fierce, their gadgets are more advanced, their motives are more vicious and their convictions are more fanatic.

Sherlock holmes is armed with his intelligence(which far surpasses usual humans by miles except for those of Mycroft his elder brother and Moriarty his arch nemesis) other than his latop(with an active internet connection) and his GPRS activated cellphone. Let's not forget Dr. Watson, his loyal friend, who has retired from the British army now after being shot in the leg in the Afghan war and shares the first floor at 221 B Baker's street in London, with Holmes with Mrs Hudson as their landlady. Sir Doyle often portrayed Dr. Watson to be somewhat of a simpleton who felt like an idiot in front of Holmes but in this rendition, Holmes has been shown as a normal good human being who tries hard to match Holmes' thinking prowess and fails(obviously) but we love him for trying.

At first I was a little apprehensive of watching this version of Holmes wondering if I would like it. I had kept this aside for over a year but when I eventually got myself to watch it, I couldn't stop thinking about how well the stories were modified, how beautifully the roles were enacted and how engrossed I was in the stories that I wished they made more than just 3 stories per season.

Season 1 Stories:

  • "A Study in Pink", loosely based upon A Study in Scarlett

  • "The Blind Banker"

  • "The Great Game"

Season 2 stories:

  • "A Scandal in Belgravia", loosely based on A Scandal in Bohemia

  • "The Hounds of Baskerville", loosely based on The Hound of the Baskervilles

  • "The Reichenbach Fall" loosely based on The Final Problem which Sir Doyle initially wrote to finish off Holmes as he falls with Moriarty down a waterfall but was later forced to bring him back.

Critical reception was overwhelmingly positive and the first series won the 2011 BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series, while Freeman won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Doctor Watson. The show was nominated for the YouTube Audience Award and Cumberbatch was nominated for Best Actor, for his portrayal of Holmes. The first series also won the Arqiva award for the best terrestrial show at the 2011 Edinburgh International Television Festival. "A Study in Pink" was nominated for an Emmy Award. All six episodes(aired so far) have been released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in the UK, alongside tie-in editions of some of Conan Doyle's original books.

I can barely wait for Season 3. All I can say is it is a must watch for all detective story fans and especially a must watch for all Sherlock Holmes fans because this rendition has never been tried before and this has been so well made.
