I am sure for parents in these days along with choosing a school, next most important thing would be to choose the best possible support in terms of JEE, NEET, Olympiads training from Coaching Institutes or Tuition Centre to support the regular academics.

As a parent who has been into this and having myself did some research, I would like to share some of the important aspects that I feel are important.

1- Do initial research in terms of the availability of options in your locality. There is a very important reason why I have been mentioning this. Students who are made to travel 1-2 hours everyday just for the classes would end up getting not much output.

2- Understand the background of the Institute and feedback from portals like Mouthshut. Do not get carried away by the good reviews and at the same time form very negative opinion about bad reviews. You would get to understand the broad feedback. I am sure if everyone is saying negative things then there must be something very inappropriate about the place. You may try to avoid taking next step for those institutions

3- Visit the Institute website to understand the services and training programs they offer

4- ave a telephonic conversation with shortlisted Institutes to get more details

5- Visit the particular Branch of the Institute to know the faculties details, students feedback and infrastructure. This is very important. Just because an Institute is producing ranks from Delhi or Andhra does not mean that students of Adyar Branch would get same support!

6- Do take opinion of any known friends/colleagues studying in that Institute(If any one available)

7- Also, if possible try to organize a counseling session with teachers/faculties who are going to take classes with the student for better initial assessment of compatibility

8-If the Institute is providing any demo sessions, please opt for the same with a caution that it should be with regular faculties.

I believe that in today's life coaching institutes has became an inseparable part of student's lives. They have became an important factor for getting an admission into top colleges for students. However parents and students need to be cautious while choosing coaching institute as many of them later found out to be fraud. I feel coaching should be self study. Now in this century we find very brilliant students who are very active, can cope up with the world and are very confident. Why do they need coaching classes? They have all the ready made stuff in front of them. The internet gives them everything vide laptops, mobiles etc. Through facebook and watsapp they are discovering and learning things. In fact good schools teaches them that they need not go for any coaching classes and that they themselves should show the interest in sitting and reading books, working out, go in for group discussions, take the help of school teachers and collegues. When they do it themselves they will improve more. They try to know their drawbacks. Why should a teacher from a coaching class find out their fault. They can themselves find out what is lacking in them through hard work. In schools, they are already paying fees and spending some hours. After school they can have some break or free time and then switch on to their own study system. These coaching classes just take a lumpsome money and not all are successful. Then they again go for repeaters batch and waste one full year. Is this needed? It is better to have confidence in one's own efforts and forget these coaching classes.

This means, you are already physically drained when you arrive at the coaching center, if the distance between your home and coaching classes is huge.

Check the teacher's credentials and his behavior. Make sure the teacher is serious about the subjects he/she is coaching. It would be great, if the teacher is well-mannered and attends to each student's queries diligently.

The last point is more pertinent for girls. Make sure the coaching class is located in a safe neighborhood. That means, it should not be located in an area that is infamous for anti-social activities. Try to see where your friends are attending coaching classes before deciding.

Most of the time people look at the previous years result from that coaching classes and take the admission, but they don't check if the same faculty is teaching this year.

Second important thing that you should check is that what material they use for teaching and is it of good .

You should also check how much personal attention is paid to the students because most of the coaching have large number of students so they are not able to focus on each student separately.

One more important thing that you should check is that do they help the weaker students or they just focus on the good ones.

The motive to join a coaching is to learn something new and able to achieve something. If one is going to coaching and not learning something new there could be few reasons:

1) Population of the class is too high, Over crowded hence couldn't clear your doubt.

2)It's a place which only complete the syllabus.

3)No personal or individual session to clarify the problems.

4)It's more like a moneymaking place then learning center.

5)Facility or teacher it self is not interested, just doing it for a sake.

6)Does not give any motivation to ask a question or participate.

Most of the places a days are just making money by the the name of XYZ Coaching centers, so before you enter always do a verification by your own by asking the ex students or the current ones, take demo classes and go for the online review which helps understanding the reality.
