Five Best Websites of the Year Tips

New Delhi
Top candidate for best website.
Jan 07, 2002 03:44 PM

I don’t think any of us can honestly say that we will turn down easy money, especially if it is possible to come by it by not doing much work. I have my doubts about the Nitroclicks site, but like a lot of other people with 24/7 access to the Net for a flat fee, I feel there is nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Two weeks after I signed up, my earnings stood at an unbelievable two hundred and forty US dollars, for doing simple tasks. Whether or not I will see any money is another matter, but I will go into this further a bit later in this review.

~ The company~

On their web site Nitroclicks style themselves as a “multi-level” marketing company. On their advertiser page there is the following description of their aims… Our goal is to create an exchange of information between advertisers and our members. This is achieved by advertising different products and services to thousands of our subscribers. Unlike other companies we use new and innovative advertising which differs from the traditional approach. It has been proven that our methods are more efficient, producing better results at an affordable price which is much lower than those of our competitors.

So this “new and innovative” advertising method is basically this. The advertiser pays Nitroclicks a fee to promote their product or service to its subscribers. Some of this fee is passed on to the members Nitroclicks selects to visit the site, as remuneration for their time.

~ The web site~

When I first visited the site I thought it could be better designed. The use of frames made reading the information in the centre section annoying, as there was only a limited window. Also the choice of colours made the print hard to see and there was an irritating sound when one clicked on links.

However when I returned to the site after the Christmas break, I found that it had had a total overhaul. Although it won’t win any prizes for design it is much easier to navigate and the print is now easily read.

~ How to join~

Signing up to this site is straightforward. The form asks for your name and address plus some demographic details. You are also asked to indicate your interests, I would suggest you tick the lot. Remember that payment is by check so make sure that you give the correct name!

Please note that you must be over thirteen years old to join.

~ The assignments~

When a member is given a new assignment they are sent an email of notification. It is as well to log on and check your account occasionally, as this does not always happen. There is always a time limit given for the completion of an assignment.

I was told when I signed up that assignments would be up to twenty-five(Nitroclicks now say thirty) a month. However in the first fortnight I had been given sixty-six. This might be due to me ticking all the interest boxes but I don’t think so. My sister did the same and she has had half the number that I have. I can only assume that this is due to my demographic details, as Nitroclicks say that they target some of their work according to these.

These assignments are very simple. Sometimes I am asked to look at a company web site, but more often to sign up for their services. Most of these are get rich quick schemes, but I have never been asked for any payment. You will be asked an easy question, (which always contains a hint to the answer) to prove you have done the task before you get credit for it. For example this might simply be to give the first word on the page that loads after you have signed up, or a word in the email of confirmation.

I sometimes find that I am unable to answer the questions. On one occasion it was clearly because the wrong site had been linked in the assignment details. I can only suggest that you try guessing the answer like I do, it may work.

A word of warning! I had one assignment that involved giving credit card details and my National Insurance number, so that the company could do a free credit check. I declined this work for obvious reasons, I suggest you do too if you get it.

Second word of warning. Get an email address such as Hotmail or the like, and use it to sign up to the sites you are sent to. You will get spam, spam and more spam! Some of these mails do stop if you don’t show any interest in the product or service that is being promoted. You can also unsubscribe to many of them.

~ Earnings and payment~

Your account will be credited with ten dollars when you join. Earnings vary between fifty cents and five dollars depending on the assignment. If you can find some friends to use your handle as their referral(if you want to use me email me) you can earn a commission on their wages. This is ten percent on a direct referral and five percent on an indirect referral to up to five levels below.

The drawback to all this is that Nitroclicks will not pay out until you have earned five hundred dollars. The onus is on the member to make contact with Nitroclicks when his/her account reaches this amount, there are instructions on how to do this in the faqs section.

~ My verdict~

A women friend in the USA who I have written to(never met her) for over three years tells me that she has just been paid by Nitroclicks. She did not refer me to join so she has nothing to gain by making this up. However I have a gut feeling that while some people will be paid, the vast majority won’t for the following reasons.

It is very easy to cheat on the assignments. I have had several assignments that involve signing up to the same web site under different referrals. The friend I have in the States says she makes up some details and an email address. I have done this too, (yes I know it’s naughty!) without a problem because I already know the answer to the test question. To be fair, last week I received an email from Nitroclicks concerning questions that their members had asked. One thing that was specifically mentioned in it, was that members should not do a task twice, or sign up to a site more than once. This is also stated in the terms and conditions.

My naughty little sister uses my computer a lot and I have caught her filling in the question answers by using my window’s history. She hadn’t bothered to sign up to the sites, or given false details. Nitroclicks do threaten to delete a suspect account but so far this has not happened.

One person has said to me that he did not think it was right to falsify details to create multiple accounts, as it is fraud. I got to thinking about this and I reckon he is right. If Nitroclicks is for real, then in the long run cheating them or their customers will not benefit members. I wouldn't want to see Nitroclicks go under or cut payments, so from now on, no more cheating for me.

I stand to be corrected on this but I cannot find a contact name and address anywhere on the site. This alone makes me very dubious about the whole set up.

In my case I have had so many tasks I now think it is too good to be true. So sign up and do the assignments and dream about how you are going to spend the money. But don’t build your hopes up too much…

Good Luck.

Why not use the link below and sign up today.

The Best Ones
Dec 30, 2001 07:17 PM

There are many sites on the web which give you unwanted information but there are also sites which are good ones.According to me the following are the 5 best sites of the year

1)-YAHOO.COM

YAHOO.COM offers a variety of services such as Messenger where you can send offline messages, free E-mail, chatting, clubs, etc, etc. This site I think is the most popular site among internet users. The speed is also good inspite of heavy traffic.I think every net user visits this site atleast once in his lifetime.

2)-REDIFF.COM

REDIFF.COM is a good source of news for Indian users on the internet. It also offers a variety of services like e-mail, chatting, online shopping, etc.I am happy with the e-mail service they give but some people do have complaints about it.They have started a new service called REDIFFMAILPro where you can have your e-mail account with your company's name.Example swanand@swanand.com.The speed is great and this site an award for online journalism too. This site has a Us version too.

3)-CONTESTS2WIN.COM

This site is the best ever site I have visited on the net.In this site it is hard not to win.To win you have to become a member of this site which is free and play games due to which you can win prizes if you are lucky(For more reference see my review on this site).

4)-ESPNSTAR.COM

This site offers information on variety of sports. This site keeps updating regularly.Their new fantasy games of Super Selector and Premeirship Football are great. This site can be a little slow at times. If you want news about sports you can go to his site

5)-MOUTHSHUT.COM

I don't have to tell much about this site as all the readers will know the matter of this site.MOUTHSHUT.COM is a site that I have discovered recently and this is the only site that I have found where the general public's opinion matter.I have still to learn much about this site

Wow !!!
Dec 30, 2001 03:35 PM

I first saw the site https://santoshsivan.com in MS. I thought, lemme see why a person has given a personal web page a nomination for the Top 5 sites of year, discounting big names like Google, eBay, Amazon etc

The Site is in a league of its own, and one of the most creative I have seen. I have always admired SAntosh Sivan, as a great Cinematographer (of Mani Ratnam - Roja et la) and now his site is a delight for anyone

Taking you through the site, you will not find a lot of web pages, no flash files, no downloads, pictures etc. The whole web page is designed as a Diary of the Web master meeting Santosh Sivan. It takes you through the musings of Sivan about his Job, his works and his past

The photos are few and scarce, but go well with the writeups and there is no clutter in the web pages.

Take a look at the web page .... it leaves you lots of things to ponder about even after you are through with the web page .....

My opinion on the 5 best websites of the year in the Personal category. The site https://santoshsivan.com definitely is a strong contender. As a computer engineer I must congratulate the webmaster, Arvind Iyer on completing such a beautiful job. The content of the site is exotic and the designs very, very subtle. The navigation is simple too.It is not cluttered with too much junk like other sites. A must for young, aspiring filmmakers. Once again, well done and keep it up. https://santoshsivan.com is creativity stretched to the maximum. It is a homepage of sorts but at the same time it belongs everywhere.Mainly of use to low budget filmmakers.

5 All Time Great Websites
Dec 29, 2001 03:08 PM

The difference between Failure and Success is doing a thing a thing ALMOST right and doing a thing EXACTLY right.

There are 5 websites in my opinion that is successful in conveying the message across straight.

The first one is https://tm.org, the website of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on Transcendental Meditation. It is superb. Period. You have to see it to believe it. I guess we can all become Global Citizens and go back to ancient Indian roots( which is the best lifestyle in my opinion)which will do all of us a world of good in this war ridden world.

The second one is https://fearofphysics.com. I wish I had access to this site when I studied Physics( I hated the subject passionately) in school. Check it out. I have almost started loving physics because of this site.

The third best site is https://searchalot.com. This is the really effective search website as I search a lot!

The fourth best website is https://kidpix.com. I am involved in children' education and this site is the coolest site for kids software - kidpix. Though you have to have and know the software(KIDPIX) to enjoy the full benefits of this site.

The fifth best site is https://rediff.com. This is the website through which I keep in touch with what happens in India and the news is pretty reliable and the offers and transaction time on online shopping( & ordering) are great.

Dec 29, 2001 02:09 PM

Google.com is the best site on the internet. It is a search engine so it helps you to find whatever information you are looking for within seconds. It is the world's most powerful and reknowned search engine with more than a million visitors every day. Even Yahoo.com's search is powered by google. It is the best search engine and I think it deserves to be the best site of the year. I think the only reason it will not win is because it has very little user interaction. For example if a person goes to google.com he can only search for his information in a dull environment without any personal aspects on the site.

This is the ace film makers personal website. The same man who gave art house crowds THE TERRORIST and recently the opus ASOKA.

Exotic designing and very , very well written content. This site is a very different one, I have not seen anything like this. Plenty of negative spaces, nice stills and extremely useful and thought provoking content for any aspiring filmmaker. On the whole excellent viewing...Read the section on the buddha. There is also a section devoted to low budget filmmaking which would be of great use to anyone  planning to make a film

Santosh Sivan- cinematography
Dec 23, 2001 08:43 AM

I read an opinion and checked this site out. https://santoshsivan.com it belongs to the director of the features THE TERRORIST and ASOKA. Excellent website content and lovely designing. It was one of the best personal sites I have seen in years. Definitely deserves and award. There is so much to read on Buddhism too. The site is brilliantly developed. It has been written by the author as though he were writing a diarry. Though the interaction is personal , the content in universal and largely Zen.The stills are interesting too.

Beautiful site
Dec 19, 2001 12:45 PM

What a lovely website I stumbled upon....beautiful images, brilliant design, Utility content. A zen temple in its own right belonging to Ace cinematographer Indian born Santosh sivan. The content has benn developed over a series of interviews which are personal in nature but global in terms of identification. An absolute must for young people wanting to learn filmmaking.

There is a separate section with historical information with regard to Buddhism and eventually ending with a brief of Emperor Asoka and a link to the film.Excellent website.

Dec 11, 2001 02:28 AM

I don't think I can talk to you about 5 websites, as I will probably fal asleep, so I will tell you about my favourite...(zzzzzzzzzz)

http://www.play247.com

http://www.play.com

2 different domain names, 1 website.

This website offers a wide range of region1 and 2 DVDs, music CDs and computer games.

I found this website whilst searching for ‘Cheap DVDs’ and that was exactly what I got…

THE WEBSITE

The website is laid out beautifully, and decided for 100% user-friendliness. There are many ways of finding the DVD you want, including; search title, search genre, new releases, coming soon, top ten, most wanted and others. The website has been very well designed, as with most websites I usual find an error somewhere, but with play.com I haven’t yet. It is very simple to browse play.com thanks to the layout of the searched articles, and by clicking on the title you can access more information.

COST

The costs of region 2 DVDs (European) are usually 2-3 pound cheaper than in the shops.

The region 1 (American etc.) DVDs are usually a bit cheaper than the region 2 DVDs, but of course these are titles that are probably just out in the cinema in Britain, e.g. The Animal. Be careful, you have to have a multi-region DVD player to play region 1 DVDs.

The computer games are convincingly cheap. Last week I pre-ordered Tony Hawks 3 for the PS2 for 30 pounds, 15 pounds cheaper than in the shops. I was not so impressed when I went into the Dreamcast section, as 5 games were available. In my opinion I would only use play.com for DVDs and PSX/PS2 games.

As play.com is based in Jersey UK VAT is axed, so the products become even cheaper.

AVAILABILITY

A useful feature on play.com is the fact that it tells you if the products are in stock. This is very useful, as you know whether you are getting your delivery straight away or if there is going to be a delay. The stock quickly updates though, so not many titles are unavailable for long.

RANGE

The range of DVDs are exceptional, as well as all the latest DVDs there are also the old ones that maybe my dad watched when he was young, which not many of us have an interest in, but make good Christmas presents!!! There are many games for sale as well, except in the Dreamcast section.

DELIVERY

Delivery is free to anyone in Britain, and is usual dispatched to Royal Mail within 24 hours, unless the product is currently unavailable. Play.com is great as the region 1 DVDs don’t have to be shipped from America, so time is saved. Suddenly, play.com have taken away the advantages of ordering from abroad.

CUSTOMER CARE

Play.com must be credited for such an in depth help section. I previously bought region 1 DVDs at https://dvdboxoffice.com, but at first I had to ask so many questions, as the help section was rubbish. As I read play.com’s help guide the questions that I initially asked were answered on that page.

ORDERING

You have to make an account before you can order anything, which I think is a good thing. This is because you don’t have to constantly type in your credit card number, it has an exclusive feel and you can track your order. The site is secure when ordering, and very simple once you have an account.

THOUGHTS WHEN BUYING

Take notice when buying a DVD (particularly region 1) as the format is often widescreen, which isn’t at all useful for the less rich people of the world like me.

Look whether the product is in stock, as there is nothing more annoying than finding out you have to wait 2 more weeks for your DVD to be dispatched.

FINAL THOUGHTS

A marvellous sight for everyone who has an interest in movies, but also anyone with an eye for bargains, especially if you have a PS2. Have a look on the site, and I can guarantee you won’t find a product cheaper on another site…

Thanks for reading, but I think this website may only be open to the English...

The Top 5! May in Fact be Your Top 5!
Dec 07, 2001 02:37 AM

I go to a lot of websites on a given day and if you were to multiply that by 365, then that means a whole lot of websites. I visit a lot of sports sites, entertainment sites, get paid sites, etc and do a lot of research as well.

Here are a brief list of my top 5 websites of the year.

5) Espn.com

Espn.com is one of my favorite websites ever. It successfully allows you to find out any such information on any sports personality and to compare them to others. The site includes live scores of games of almost every sport, ..... from hockey to cricket. PS. Cricket is not a sport, it ranks up there with Chess and Parcheesi. You can also shop at espn.com and buy all the coolest merchandise. You can email the site writers and give them your views as well as participate in some chats that do get broadcasted on television. My #5 site.

4) Binladenpics.tripod.com

Even with the aftermath of the Sept 11th attacks on New York, I can still find some funny pictures making fun and ragging on that butthole Osama Bin Laden. They tease him with sexual content to violent content. This is not a great site for kids but sure is funny. My #4 Site

3) Ampland.com

I figured I would have to add in a pornographic site considering most people on the net are complete perverts. I am not a constant visitor to this site but I use it to simply show how indecent and lonely some people can get. You can find xxx pictures categorized from body parts to acts to races, etc. It is a free site and you don't need to subscribe and no popups on your screen thank god!

2) https://joedean.com

One of the funniest sites I have been to. I am not sure if the actual author of the sites name is Joe Dean, so you may want to investigate that. This person creates java cartoons to make you laugh out loud all the time. I recall watching an alphabet song for kids that ends off with him cussing at you at the end. It is hilarious, give it a shot!

1) Itpays2learn.com

My favorite site and also a get paid site just like Mouthshut.com. This site actually pays you to play trivia with a series of 3 levels from 10's of categories. You accumulate points and then at month end, those points are converted to cash. All members are able to sign up and will receive a check when they hit $30. Its a fun site and you can really learn a lot of stuff! A link to get to the actual site is https://getpaid4trivia.tripod.com . Might want to check that one out, its really good!

Five Best Sites....Just my opinion..
Jul 23, 2001 05:44 AM

This is going to be very hard for me to narrow down since there is way too many websites. Here are my choices.

  1. Since I am a news'freak', first thing I like to see on the internet is the daily news. The best site for me is, 'The New York Times.' https://nytimes.com/?welcome

This site is loaded with great source of news. It will also send you it's news on any topic free to your email box everyday. This site covers national, international, latest rp reuters, cartoons, arts, health, science, reader opinions, photos of course and the everyday New Yorker life and the usual articles that most newspaper has.

  1. My second choice site is The History Channel. This site is a must for all history bluffs. It has just about anything you might want to know about history along with a good search engine. This site will hunt up famous speeches, it has great exhibits and what happen today in history. This site also covers war history, science history, health history, etc. It also has a store for books to buy, and it does have a discussion group. I use this site alot since I also watch the History Channel on my television. Maybe this site will help alot of our students wanting to do a lot of research.

https://historychannel.com/cgi-bin/framed.cgi

  1. My third choice is the Women's Computer Clinic. This site is great for us women who want to learn more about our computers. Sometimes we just want to learn and share among ourselves. This site is free and it has tips and tricks for you to know about your computer. It has tutorials, a good Kitchen Chat where women can talk about anything and of course to swap receipes. https://womenscomputerclinic.com/index.html

  2. My fourth choice is The Worlds of DOBHRAN. This site is where I go to send friends and family greeting cards, poems, music and games. This site is really good, great animations and huge choice of cards for every type of greeting and occassions. This site gives you choices, in which area you want to go. They have DOBHRAN GR-R-Reetingss, this is the ecard area. DOBHRAN's INSPIRE is the place to read stories, that will inspire you and some great poems. DOBHRAN's HUMORama, this section is where you find funny jokes, blunders and great humor.

https://dobhran.com/

  1. My final site is of course Mouthshut.com. I know I haven't been a member here very long but the people here are really awesome. They help you along, give sound advice, and mostly the reviews here are some of the best, I have ever read. I hope this site continue to grow and hope we all can continue to help do this among challenging ourselves to be better people.

Well, hope my five best will be of help to some of you. Have fun and enjoy.

My Top Five Web Sites
Jul 02, 2001 09:02 AM

My top five web sites include once that I enjoy because I like to either learn or ones that I love to write for.

1. Mouth Shut

I have to say, as for writing and community sites, MS wins. This site has grown and developed into what I feel is a very wonderful site for both learning and sharing. Congratulations to all those wonderful people who developed this site and who seem to strive to make it even better than thought possible.

I would also like to congratulate all those hard working writers who add their individual talents to making this a wonderful site to be a part of. Friendly people, with friendly advice.

2. Kitchen Detective Online Magazine

Okay, I have to admit, I have a bit of person reasons for really loving this site. I am one of the staff writers for the site. Even though I just do a single article each time it is put together, there are other writers who also add their bits and pieces into what has turned out to be a wonderful tool for those of us who love to cook.

3. Cool Text

If you ever need a free banner or a custom designed banner, this is the place to go. I discovered them when I wrote for a now dead site called Themestream.

4. Westlazer.com

This is a site where you can have access to all the top search engines all on one page. You can enter what you are searching for once and have them all search at the same time or do individual searches. It also contains the wonderful google search engine which is what I was use to using.

5. Ivillage.com

Ivillage is a wonderful site for learning all types of wonderful and interesting things.

There you have five of my favorite sites.

Here are my votes
Jun 30, 2001 09:18 AM

I like writing reviews about my favorite websites. I feel that it gives me a chance to share with others online what I have found by searching and word of mouth on the internet.

Picking five websites that I can call the Five Best Websites of the Year is not the easiest thing to do, but here are my picks.

The Fifth Spot goes to https://infoseek.com: If it wasn't for infoseek, I would not have found all the other sites that I have listed. I really needed to include infoseek because it has been a very successful search engine for me.

The Fourth Spot goes to https://hotbot.com: Hotbot has been another search engine that helped me find sites that I can find game sites, writing sites and sites that pay in points and prizes.

The Third Spot goes to https://mouthshut.com: I am sorry that I can't quite give mouthshut the number one slot yet, although this may change in the future. The reason I have put it third is because I am a new member and I am still learning my way around. Being from the United States, I am not sure how redeeming points quite works yet, although I do understand that once you have collected 600 points and been a member for a period of six months you are suppose to be able to cash out, I just don't understand if this also applies to United States or not. I am enjoying my new membership with mouthshut, with or without points it has been a new and exciting experience for myself. I have read quite a few interesting reviews and enjoy the fact that I receive points not only for writing reviews, but reading other reviews as well.

The Second Spot goes to https://writtenbyme.com: After joining up with sites such as: https://themestream.com(no longer in existence) and https://epi*ions.com; I went on a hunt for other writing sites and discovered: https://writtenbyme.com. another writing site where you can write just about anything your heart desires and get paid in points. I have received one gift certificate so far from this site.

And the winner is https://giantrewards.com. This site is very easy. You simply get points to play certain games online such as poker or slot machines(it's all free), and if you win points they go into a banking system. Once I have collected$30.00 worth of points, I usually redeem for a gift certificate to https://directgiftcerticates.com where I can cash out for a gift certificate to Olive Garden. I have had the pleasure of going to Olive Garden courtesy of giantrewards on several occasions now.

My selection for the 5 best
Jun 12, 2001 04:57 PM

Know before you read this review that because of the nature of the Internet, the sites I have nominated in this review are the best sites that I have come across and surely other sites better then these exist. These are simply my selection of Top 5 sites for 2001!

Google.com- This is the ultimate search engine! I came across this around a year or so back and since have become addicted to it. I can hear you saying'well how can someone get addicted to a search engine?' but my addiction for Google takes me their atleast 20-40 times a day! I do atleast 30 searches daily. After experiencing the quality of search returned by Google, I have started to belive that if Google cant find soemthing then no sites will be able to.

With its good quality and fast fast speed, I nominate Google for the best search engine on the net!

Yahoo.com

Yahoo! is no longer known only for being one of the best search engines but today its taken itself to being one of the best portals on the net. It gives all services that are possible on the net from pc2pc phone to shopping to new and ofcourse its good ole' search engine. What I like a lot about Yahoo! is the fact that you can just goto -.yahoo.com to reach the homepage of that service. For example, if you want to shop, you dont have to remember a huge URL or go thru several clicks to ge tthere but instead can just type shopping.yahoo.com.

Again, Yahoo's speed, ease of use and services is what has earned it a place in this list of Top 5 websites.

Expedia.com

The reason I give Expedia a place in this list is because of its extra ordinary content available on the site. Its THE complete travel portal by Microsoft. They provide great services such as car booking, airline ticket booking and much more. But apart from these services, what I like the most about them is the international module that they have recently added to their list of services. Now, I can book hotels that are in India and other countries from anywhere! Other sites might have this but Expedia sort of joins together all these services and creates the ultimate travel portal.

Planet-Source-Code.com:

Many of the normal audience here at MS might not be aware of this site but I am sure that if you have even a little interest in programming then you will know it. PSC is a site where programmers from around the world help each other but submitting their work. I have been greatly helped by this site in my journey to Java, Visual Basic, ASP etc. In return, I have done my part by submitting my own creations so that future coders can get helped. This is slowly becomming a tradition where when you first enter the site you are a beginner seeking help but soon you become a pro and pay the due by helping other newbies. One thing though is that the site is somewhat slow and not at all the speed of mouthshut. But again, they get HUGE traffic and was started by just a single person.

MouthShut.com:

Did you really think that I can end this selection without thanking MS?:-) This site is just too tremendous. Its a good little community where people come to know each other personally and share their experiences. The reviews and advice posted on this site has always come into help whenever needed. I really cant send enough thanks to the creators of this site!

Hey, Mr. Right! Are You Looking For Me!?! Pt. 1
May 19, 2001 08:01 AM

I've been told at various times in my life that ''Mr. Right'' is out there somewhere looking for me, so I thought I might just try to make it easier for him to find me by giving him a few other ideas (five, to be exact) besides right here at Mouthshut.com (which is another story all by itself).

All kidding aside, I'm not just posting this so that Mr. Right will find me--in fact, that's the LEAST of my concerns at this time--but so that anyone else can, too.

So, here goes. . .

MY FIRST LOVE (a.k.a. The Elephant In The Corner)

You could probably post a swear-word around MS.com with greater ease than you would be able to print the name of this certain site.

For some reason, it has become like the proverbial elephant in the corner of a room that people are aware of but don't dare to mention in polite company.

Think of being at a social gathering and noticing the odor of passed gas in the air.  You might even have some suspicions of its source.  However, you say nothing and pretend not to notice.  If the odor is bad enough, you might turn on a fan, open a window, or both.  But you don't mention why you're doing this--though most people would have some inkling as to what inspired you to take such action(s).

And so it is with a certain website--causing me to resort of describing it in generalities by saying:

(1)  It has many of the same traits as this one.

(2)  You read, write, and rate opinions.

(3)  You use a special name for these opinions where you substitute a capital ''E'' for the first ''o'' in the word ''opinion.''

(4)  The name of the site is the result of #3 being made plural and a period and the first three letters of ''comedy'' being used as the ending.

Anyway, I've been a member of this certain place since June 22, 2000--checking it out after seeing it mentioned on a messageboard at a writers' forum.  It's the first place I've ever written online and gotten paid for it.

Since joining there, I've made many wonderful friends--and, through them, have learned of other great sites (like this one!) where I actually could write to earn.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS TRYING TO HELP A FRIEND!

As I said before,  I've met several wonderful people at the first site.

One day, I was trying to help one of them out (He was down over a messy divorce, and his content partner site didn't seem to be working.  Since he was too preoccupied with his personal life to fix it, I was trying to find someone else who lived closer to him who might be able to actually visit him and help him out) and went to look up a person he'd told me was a good friend of his.  While I was at the good friend's site, I saw the name of another member and wondered if  he were also connected to my online friend.

When I went to his site, I found out that he wrote for a site called WrittenByMe. Unlike the first site--which, as a consumer report site, has more limits as to what you can write about--WBM (which has its roots Down Under in Australia) is more of a creative writing site.

Some changes have been made to it lately in hopes of also giving us a springboard (an agent of sorts) in which to sell what we write to other markets, if and when we so desire.

If you get the chance, go check it out (note: with these writing sites, you simply have to to the usual http business and then enter the name of the site right before the dot-com). If you decide to join, you might mention that ainsleyjo sent you--not a requirement, but it would make us both happy campers. Also, if you join, be sure to let me know by leaving a comment here, e-mailing me, etc. and letting me know your username.

WHILE THE CAT WAS AWAY. . .

While the ''cat'' was away, we ''mice'' found another place to play!

In plain English: When the site with the unmentionable name shut down, I soon received an e-mail from fellow writer, Kassie, telling me about a new site known as Brightidea.com.

This was a place you could go to and write what you might see as bright ideas for a vast number of specific--and some not so specific--categories.

This is a site that's already very good in a lot of ways. However, it also has a lot of bugs in need of being ironed out. Sometimes, the very creators of it get totally overwhelmed by the mammoth challenges being tossed at them regarding this site.

Some fellow writers have become frustrated by all of this and have pulled out. Yet, many of us have opted to stay on board the ship to see if it will become restored to even greater magesty than before.

This is a brightly-colored site that has a lot of potential. I can see improvements in it frequently and would personally advise any or all of you to give it the chance it deserves!

https://Merriam-Webster.com

This is a really good site. It has always had any word I need to spell, or meaning of.

They have an email feature also.

You can have ''The word of the day'' sent to you by e-mail.

It gives you the word, tells you if it is a noun, verb, pro-noun, etc.

It also gives you a sample, sentence to show you how to use the word.

It's a site worth checking out.

-----------------------------

https://dogpile.com

Is a good search engine.

If you can't find what you are looking for there, I would be surprised.

----------------------------

https://Searchcactus.com

It is one search engine.

The good thing about it is you get paid to use it.

When you make $20.00 they send you a check.

----------------------------------------------

https://Women.com

This site has almost every thing a woman could want.

Health, Advise, Free-email, things to do.

Please take time to visit, if you have not.

Thank's for the feed back, letting me know I used this category wrong.

Thanks

Glenda
