Even though the markets are full of books of different writers but I personally believe that this book is the best for both engineering entrance exams and well as for the medical entrance examination. The best part of the book is that it is meant to teach a student about physics not only how to solve numerical. This thing makes reading much more interesting. The author has put a lot of efforts in this book and this makes it an epic one. I personally has read the 1st part and half 2nd part. Best book for preparing  for iit-main and iit advanced - physics . book is written by Dr. Harish chand verma professor at Indian institute of technology - kanpur U.P.  Dr. H.C.VERMA is experimental physicist(nuclear scientist). Dr. H.C.VERMA's book has been divided into two parts because of the total manuscript . A large number question and solved and unsolved problem are given. each question or problem has a specific purpose. It may be there to bring out a subtle point which might have passed unnoticed while doing the text portion. It may be a further elaboration of a concept developed in the text. It may be there to make the student react several concepts introduced in different chapters combine and show up as a physical situation and so on. Such tools have been used to developed a culture: analyse the situation, make a strategy to invoke correct principles and work it out. This is a very good book to build your concepts for iit jee in physics. It has a good amount of questions of different categories which will help you to get the basics concepts of the chapters applied in questions and enhance your visualisation of the questions. This book doesnot provides you with good theory of the chapter when you will read it throughly without any background knowledge then you will not be able to solve all the questions and you will get frustrated with the questions and I would recommend you to only solve the questions and that too by yourself and in worse case go to the teacher with question and not seeing the solutions.

So it is basically the concept applying book rather than the concept building book.

I am personally using this book and cannot find any other book like this one. it contains a wide range of solved and unsolved questions. which builds your concepts from root. It covers all the topic of JEE mains and advanced. And all the topics are made simpler by categorizing them in subtopics for ease of students. I would personally tell you that do buy this book.

I have brought hc verma. I have done a very much chapter of it. The level of questions is not very good. Only few examples are given.the font of questions is very small.the questions are very scary too.I have tried almost all the questions, but it doesn't help me in getting good marks . There are more than one solution for a given questions. So too many attempts have to be given.but it is not possible as I am studying for boards exams also. It may be good for competitive exam I am not sure but for boards it's too bad.a book should be mutipurpose too.

According to me, this book is nice . If you had to prepare for the competitive exams then this book is very important. It cleared most of my expects . In this book, there are questions which deal with the daily lives. It is a very good book for iit aspirants. But according to me, this book did not deal with much higher level aspects, i.e. it does not contains questions as like that of the jee advanced and other higher level exams . But for the beginner this book is a boon . After reading this book I have cleared most of the concepts . Before reading this book, it was very difficult for me to solve the problems but now after reading this book it's been quite easier.

I hated physics and I dont know anything from physics, in other subject I was a topper. I had taken many suggestion about my problem, one of my friend had suggested to use hc. verma's book. I started reading it and trust t is not boring as NCERT books the notes are very simplified. easy language. after completion of every topic there is sample problem/numerical for better understanding. so. after using it, in 9th I was the physics lover.

Concepts of physics is a very good book for physics begineers.The way of writing by author is excillent, he made his full efforts to teach physics. It is a very good book from the point of view from indians, as it is written by a indian writter. it give example from the practical life which made the the book easier to study.The explanation of the author is much easier than the other books that I have read. The question for exercise is of very good level which can summarise the whole conceps and are also very helpful from the point of view of many competetive exams which is the key feature of the book.

First let me give my personal opinion. I went through a hell lot of text books on physics while preparing for IIT. I went through Resnick Haliday, I went through H.C Verma's books, I went through Tipler, I went through many other text books by local authors. Of all these, H.C Verma's books easily stand out as the best book to educate you on physics. Let me give some reasons.

1. Lucidity. Most physics text books would brag that they are lucid, but none is more so than this book. Every chapter starts grounds up, takes a real world example on which the chapter is bulit on, slowly veers into equations to formulate the concepts. The method remains consistent in all chapters. At no point will you find a sudden jump which leaves you confused.

   
   




2. Examples. The worked out examples in the book are just fantastic. Particularly the ones in the chapters of Sound Waves, Lenses. I managed to solve all exercise problems totally by myself just by going through those examples. A good example is one which teaches you lots of concepts within a short span, these examples do exactly that. I cleary remember one example from Electromagnetism, it's about the movement of a particle under the influence of electric and magnetic fields simulatneously(called Lorentz's Force). The example was so brilliantly solved that I managed to solve several problems from Irodov based on that example alone. And it specifically helped me crack 3 questions(part of a comprehension) in the IIT Physics paper.

   
   




3. Terrific MCQs. This is one of the most underrated aspects of these books. Each chapter has set of MCQs at the end which the students are supposed to solve before jumping into the exercises. The MCQs are absolutely terrific, and will make you think, revisit the one line in the chapter which you glossed over, ensure that your concepts and fundamentals are all in place as you start solving the exercise problems. While most students go for a specialist book for MCQs, like the one by Deb Mukherjee, this book can give them a serious run for their money. As an example, just go through the MCQs at the end of the chapter on Friction or Rotational Dynamics, you will get what I mean.

   
   

The highlight of the books are the chapters on Rotational Motion, Friction, Newton's Laws of Motion, Sound Waves, Electromagnetism, Simple Harmonic Motion and Optics. There are some chapters which could have been dealt with better, like the ones on General Properties of Matter, Modern Physics. But overall, the book is fantastic in every sense of the word. Definitely a must read for all students who want to understand the fundamentals of physics inside out.

Concepts of physics by Dr.H.C.Verma is a world wide famous book. it helps not only in improving the concepts but also helps to qualify JEE mains and advanced. it is a self sufficient book. one must use this book after 10th as it consists of all type of concepts and questions which a student is needs. Dr.H.C.Verma has revealed all the secrets and deep concepts and oher concepts of physics in these two books. its more than an excellent book.

H. c. verma is no doubt one of the best book for those students who are preparing for jee. although it is said that if you can complete h. c. verma you can crack jee. but with my experience this book can not be preferred for concept building as it is more focused on problems.

you can use this book as your reference book to solve good problems but you think you want to buy this book to enhance your concept then it will be a wrong decision.
