Bixee Reviews

Bixee is trully a sexy job search site
Mar 22, 2010 06:20 PM 5250 Views

Bixee is the Google of Indian jobs. They are searching jobs posted at all the popular Indian job sites. During my research there, I have seen jobs from Naukri, Jobs, Jobsahead, Careerkhazana!- Javascript tag ->and Timesjobs.

I like this idea because it allows me to see all the jos without having to go to each job site individually and doing the same searches again. Bixee provides an elegant solution by allowing you to search all of those jobs from just one site. Further more, it allows you to save that search and just see the updates to the results either as an RSS feed in my newsreader or a module in My Yahoo or in my email inbox. No more wasted time reading duplicates. And I have the piece of mind that I have not missed any job.

They have also provided the largest store of interview questions that I can find on any site. This alone is a big help to someone preparing for technical interviews.

All in all, a great site, but a lot more can be done to make this fully useful to jobseekers. I should be able to search jobs by experience and by title. Also, sometimes I want to find out other details about the companies whose jobs are posted such as #employees, financial details about them, the salary in the job, whether it is a startup, what the stock option plan is, whether the position is full-time/part-time/contractorship. All this information should be on every job site.

Also, once I have done a search, I would like to order the results by all the various attributes like salary, stability of job etc. a much richer interface than a simple Google-like interface is required.

One problem I have had with other job sites is the plethora of job consultants who throw totally irrelevant jobs in the hope of making some commission. I really hope Bixee is able to avoid that fate, otherwise it will just be another waste of a brilliant idea.

There are people who are born smart; there are some who become smart along

the way; and on some the smartness is thrust upon! No matter which category a

smart person falls into, he is smart nonetheless. Smart Job Seekerwill

start his search at Bixee.com

Why is Bixee a smart choice?

Bixee is the only job search enginefor Jobs in India. (Like

you search for just about anything on google, you can use Bixee to search for

jobs in india).

This job search engine only searches for jobs by you just specifying where you

want to build your career. For example, you are looking for a "software

engineer" position, just type that in Bixee and leave the rest to be done

by Bixee. It goes and searches for all postings for software engineer across

(almost) all leading job sites and aggregates the results for you (based on

their great ranking algorithm) with most relevant ones on the top. Use it to

believe it! You have the option of fine tuning your search based on experience

level, job location, company names etc.

You can read the job descriptions and then if you decide to apply, it takes you

to the site where the actual posting is done. It is accurate and it is fast!

The Bixee advantage:

  1. You don't have to create logins at multiple job sites to search for jobs.

You look for all jobs at one place.

  1. Gives you the ability to refine your search on the fly and keeps giving you

the most relevant search at all times.

  1. Simple and intuitive interface with minimal fuss. It makes job search a

breeze.

  1. Searches on popular keywords are presented on the first page itself. What it

means is that if you are say looking for "air hostess", you don't

have to even type. It is a popular search and is available in the list on the

first page (arranged in alphabetical order).

What can be improved:

  1. The refiners presented for fine tuning the result say on location, comany

name etc are not in alphabetical order.

  1. You can search for only one location at a time (but this is not a limiting

factor as this is not very time consuming considering you look for not more

than 2 to 3 locations at any time. I am sure someone's listening and the site

is going to make these changes soon.

Conclusion:

A great site to start searching for a career for yourself. This should be your

starting point when looking for a change of job. If you still don't use Bixee

then someone, someday will force it down your throad and you will delegate

yourself to the category of people with smartness thrust upon them.

Happy Job Searching!

The Fear of Search ?
Feb 19, 2006 09:17 PM 5212 Views

For a few months, I have been monitoring the happenings in the vertical search space and especially on the progress of India focussed search engines. While most Indian sites and users have got used to the ''google'' way of doing things, many are still wary of trying out a new search product especially focussed on Indian contents. Indian sites are paranoid of ''another'' search engine controlling how users come to their site, while most indian internet users believe that google is the ''God of all things''.

Agreed that google has become the ''information powerhouse'' which even the governments fear, and that it remains to be seen how long google will stick to its ''Do no Evil'' slogan, it cannot also be denied that google has helped consolidate information from billions of pages which otherwise would have never seen the light. Any site serious of getting traffic in this jungle of information web needs to focus on Google SEO. Most users hardly would remember the name of sites they visited. (If you happen to take a list of all the domains you visited, how many can you remember ?). Most users search for the information they are looking for in google search and discover new domains that gave most relevant information and stick on to it.

Vertical searches like Bixee.com or India focussed search engines like Terrawiz.com can do to Vertical contents what google did to horizontal ones (i.e the websites). Google can help you discover sites that provide relevant information, but it may not always get you that information. for e.g when you search for ''admin jobs in mumbai'', google will throw out results that contain sites or webpages that may have reference to the jobs in mumbai. However search engines like Bixee gives out the snippets of just the job listings from most of the indian jobs and company sites and helps you decide on the jobs most relevant to the ones you are searching for. Thus a Vertical search engines can help to dig out information deep within a website which many users might otherwise had never found out. This would also help the website gain prominence since users will have the impression that it was the source of most relevant content.

The growth of all the vertical search engines like indeed.com, simplyhired.com, kosmix.com, bixee.com, terrawiz.com etc indicates that many users find the search tools highly useful to tackle the information overload thats happening on the net. Localization or Specialization is new mantra. Indian users are no exception to it given the growth of sites like bixee which is now in to top 50K in alexa rankings.

First Indian Jobs Search Engine
May 30, 2005 12:57 PM 5740 Views

A good friend of mine was recently looking for a job change. He had put up his resume on naukri.com and was soon flooded by emails and calls from job consultants. But to his great dismay most of the jobs didn't really match his profile. I asked him to search for jobs himself on the different job sites. But he said it was too much of work to go 10 different jobs sites to search for jobs everyday. He said, ''if only there was a search engine exclusively for jobs, that allows me to search from all these different job sites.'' I'm sure this is a thought that every indian job seeker has at some point of time. A few days later, another friend of mine introduced me to Bixee.com [https://bixee.com]. This is exactly what my friend had wished for earlier and much more.

It is the first indian job search engine that aggregates job listings from almost all major indian job sites. It allows to get the job search results as daily email digest and even provides rss feed for them. And what more, they have a comprehensive question bank of interview questions to help those preparing for interviews [https://questions.bixee.com] This is an open forum where people can contribute questions and answers. I've been playing around with the site for the past few days.

In my opinion, it is one of the most useful indian website that i've come across. Strongly recommended for the indian job seekers. Keep up the good work Bixee. Hope to see more from you guys soon.
