Best of Me - Bryan Adams Reviews

In the ''Summer of '01 in B'lore''
May 07, 2001 11:44 AM 2096 Views

This is one collection I will cherish for my whole life,as I saw B.Adams perform live all the songs in bangalore last week. I always had loved all his songs but now on its a different experience whenever I get to hear those songs again ,after this dream come true concert.

Always rock 'n pop 've never gone hand in hand , 'n those who swear by their kind of music accuses the other kind of not to belong to a category called ''M.U.S.I.C'' . But there r few artists who 've blended these two variations perfectly to some sort of ,what can u term as ''soft rock'' 'n evokes the same hysterical passion irrespective of their orientation either towards rock or pop, like B.Adams, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, etc.

So one can imagine the romantic wild headbanging nostalgic hysterical frenzied maddening scenes when two extremes of music share a common platform. If the charged up crowd was up jumping crushing the toes of the neighbouring fellows to one of greatest ageless rock hit ''Summer of 69'' ,it was transformed into a calm ocean of swaying hands to one of the most romantic ballad ''Everything I do.....'' (I heard the neighbouring guy envying ''I 'm missing something ,maan''...).After sometime it was confession time with teardrops falling from heaven for ''Pleez forgive me'','n weather gods too blessed the act with a thundering lightning when B.Adams started ''Cuts like a knife''. But one spice girl from Delhi had the most cherished ball of all ,when she was picked by B.Adams from the front row to duet along with him ''When You're Gone'' .It was bit of slight headbanging 'n foot crushing 'n swaying 'n sweating out for ''run to u'', ''The best of me'' 'n ''Can't Stop This Thing We Started'',''I 'm ready''. With a bit of wooing from crowd ,who never wanted him go out of sight ,to come back on stage ,belted out another funky peppy number ''The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You'' .Then later on a song dedicated to the eternal quest of every human being ''18,T'll I die'' , which lifted the spirits of everyone cutting across all the age barriers. As all good things comes to an end ,finally it was a rock 'n rolling night with ''Let's make a night to remember''.

With live act of ''Smoke on the water'' by DP a month ago, followed by ''Summer of 69'' by Adams, the act will be fullfilled if Pink Floyd happens to land here 'n perform ,if some rumours prove correct .Finally I want to thank MTV,BPL ...'n all those who bought B.Adams ,DP 'n all to B'lore....how about Bon Jovi next time ?now isnt this called greediness......GOD BLESS!!!!!

Bryan rocks brains off in Bangalore....
May 06, 2001 08:02 PM 2112 Views

I attended Bryan Adams rock concert in Bangalore held the other day in support of Child Relief and You (CRY).As a performer ,his instinct is impeccable; His liveshows are overwrought spectacles of gore and glitz that have endeared his fans all around the world. It was a great concert as anyone who's ever seen Bryan 'live' would know.We got a pretty good place , right in front of the stage.

Even as dark clouds raced across the sky ,the rock legend relieved songs from 'Best of me' and sent electrifying shivers of ecstacy. Accompanying Bryan where Mickey on the drums and keith on the lead guitar and vocals, and of cource, the effects of a rope lighting system.

Bryan blasted off the concert with the song 'Back to you ,the surging ocean of his fans could not have asked for anything better.Even as the songs were soft and romantic, the palace grounds reverberated to the soul stirring solo performer's gravelly voice.

Accompanied by lightening in the sky, he sang 'Cuts like a knife' and crowd lapped it all up in pure joy and sang along.

Bryan adams crooned 'everything I do,i do it for you ',as it started drizzling and we had got wet to the bone, AND the euphoric fans took the sendition of the unquestningly best ever balled.

''Last time we missed Bangalore, but we will make it up this time'' he said,as the crowd got rocking to him all time hits, 'Summerof 69', '18 till Die', 'Please Forgive me', 'Heaven I am ready'...

When he completed the songs from 'Best of Me' the crowd were carving for more.

Though the spice girl, Mel c,who had sung the duet,'When you are gone' ,wasn't there. Akanksha ,the Delhi girl made up for this when she shared the stage with Bryan for this song.As this girl sang along with Bryan, the sighs and the abusive comments led out by the girl fans among us was clearly audible.

Well,I have attended many rock shows in Delhi and Mumbai . I liked this show better,In fact, it's the best concert I have ever been to,But I really think it has a lot to do with the atmosphere and the decent crowds in Bangalore.

Bangalore has always been my favourite, with its salubrious climate, its tree-lined avenues, its trendy, yuppy downtown, its software flooded pub culture and , now the live rock concerts .

When will I shift to Bangalore ???

The real best of Adams

I don’t have words to describe this album (it’s really a best of his best) by the Canadian rocker Bryan Adams.

Adams has dominated the music scenario since over a two decades now. Having started his career with songwriter Jim Vallance, Adams cut loose with the hit single “Cuts” in 1983, after which there has been no turning back.

Every year since then Adams produces an awesome album or a single soundtrack for a motion picture (Robin Hood, Prince of thieves).

Yet again, he has come out with a blast with Best of Me, a compilation of 14 of his smash hits, along with a new addition titled “best of me”.

All the tracks, to say the least, awesome. Touching lyrics and a great quality attached to all the numbers makes it instantly likeable. The best part of it, though, is the fact that no matter how many times you’ve heard it, you still find yourself hitting the repeat button for another hearing and the fact that I am a self-confessed Bryan Adams fan has nothing to do with this assessment.

There’s “can’t stop this thing”, recorded in 1991 single from the album “waking up the neighbors” it gets you stomping your feet as soon as it gets to your ears.

The next song, I should regard this one as an Anthem for every 16-year-old. You guessed it right Summer of ’69.every party in the world is incomplete without this one…no matter how many time we’ve heard it it’s as fresh as it ever was….

Then there is “I am ready” live recording from MTV’s unplugged.

“Everything I do”, the record-breaking track from the motion picture Broken Arrow. I bet every youngster has heard it in his time of…(I hope you know what I mean).

Then there is Have you ever really loved a woman…this is one of my personal favorites.

''Cloud Number nine'' as well as ''Inside & Inside Out'' have been taken from the album ''On A Day like today''. Both are brilliantly shot videos adding to their merits.

“Let’s make a night” pretty seducing track with odd lyrics and this one is taken from the 1996 album “18 till I die”.

“Back to you” is a racy number but takes time to get to you.

''Run to You'', from the sellout album ''Reckless'', has you running to the dance floor. Snazzy guitar-work is an Adams' trademark, and Adams in this number gives his fans the works.

“Please forgive me” is a slow ballad number. It is taken from the 1993 album “So far so good”

If you haven’t yet bought the album just GO FOR IT!!

And for those who already have it I’m sure it’s pretty spoilt by now due to the repeated hearings.
