Tata Indicom Mobile Operator Reviews

Useless creature & there gr8 Logic
Aug 20, 2009 02:59 PM

I never criticized any products, but the problem which I had faced during last few days with Tata Indicom .. now I am laughing at myself, why I have chosen this connection.

My name Contains Middle initial as "Kumar" and I used to write my Name in Full words. My Pass port contains the same name, even in my Voter id. But In License, Transport Authority makes it "KR" instead of "Kumar".

one fine Sunday Tata indicom Deactivate my connection just because my Identity(Driving License) contains "Kr" instead of Kumar as my Middle Name Initials.

I had recharged Indicom phone immediately with Rs 699(unlimited Tata to Tata) once it Activated. When I visit Tata zone(Alaknanda Shopping complex) they were not ready to Collect my document. they said you need to visit our main zone(Lajpat Nagar) for Document Submission. they also said it will took around 3 days to activate my Connection. today is the 5th day. I dont understand why they are not working on Sundays when I told them to activate.. they are only working on Sunday for Deactivate the Services. This is what TATA all about.

I never face such issue in clearing my above 50K cheques in bank. Sometime even they dont wrote my middle initial. Even then Its works fine. I dont know what TATA dealing with

the another good thing is ..If you want to know your Status in Customer care.. they wont be able to help you out. Coz you will not reach them ..once Service Deactivated. If you want to Reach them through other Landline or Mobile(Except TATA). you can reach there Marketing & Sales Dept and they dont know anything about it.

So you need to Pray only to god if you stuck with TATA connection.

I have Paid Rs.699 and I m getting Service for less than 25 days.. so what is the point in using such connections.

TATA is big time Pain!only buy there activated Sim if you really need it urgently..(buy even from Black Market) or buy it in 30 Days advance, so that you can Confirm with TATA, I discuss the same thing with Dealer, even faced the same issue with ..himself)

Tata Teleservices - Poor Service and no Stocks
Aug 02, 2009 04:40 PM

I have been using the Konquer/ Ego handset and bought it for Rs.30K. it is really a qualitative phone but over the last few years I lost the stylus and now the phone just keeps restarting. There is no product support at all from Tata indicom. there is no one to even provide spare parts.

I dont understand why there is no product support for such a phone. all customer care executives at tata dont have a clue on it.. some of them dont even know this model.

I visited their showroom yesterday to change to a different handset but they said there are no Stocks of any model. even if we wait for stocks the showroom on a saturday evening looks sober with no lights - no action - just one or two people to serve customers.

Really feeling sympathetic for such a good organisation. poor service..no stocks for a simple handset to buy.. I am tied down to tata thanks to the CDMA technology but there are really no service support from tata. They should ideally have a range of handsets to choose from at any point of time.

Tata Indicom - Another case of pathetic service
Jul 25, 2009 06:13 PM

I bought a Tata Indicom Walky postpaid phone in January this year. The reasons for selecting Tata Indicom were several. First, they claim theirs to be the least clogged network. Second, their tariff plans were attractive. Third, association with the much revered Tata brand.

I started facing a problem with my Tata phone that it used get switched off while in use. And then, on switching it back on, it used to work fine until it would go off the next time. Since the phone usage was low initially, I did not notice the problem. Nevertheless, I did take cognisance of the problem during the 6-month warranty period and contacted the nearest service centre in Faridabad. The service centre here is a stark contrast compared to the service centres other telecom companies have set up.

It looks just like a shabby government office (and as I realized later, the people there also sport a government official like attitude). But, let me not describe the ambience of the office as actions are much more important than the appearance. The engineer there without much inspection told me to get my phone's software reloaded. I requested him to do as he said. Then came the first shock. He said that he was not sure if they had a datacable for my phone and he will ask his colleague to look for it the next day and if he can't find it, they will send my phone for a mere software reload to the Karnal office.

Since I did not want my phone to be stranded with the service centre, I requested the engineer to arrange for the datacable so that I could return to the service centre after 4-5 days and get its software reloaded then. After waiting for 4-5 days, I again went to the service centre. This time, I was a bit luckier as the person who knew about the datacable's whereabouts had paid a chance visit to the centre (as he had quit from the job there). The engineer (and it was a different one this time; someone from Karnal!!!) told me that it would take about an hour and I could choose to wait or come back after the stipulated time. I chose to sit back and wait. Much to my surprise, the engineer finished with the work in 15 minutes.

I was really happy that my phone had been repaired so quickly. The engineer, also happy, made me sign the job sheet taking my acknowledgement that the software had been reloaded. I had almost left for home when it struck me to atleast make a call and check if my phone was working fine. To my horror, it was not. It just stopped making any calls. I rushed back to the service centre and showed it to the engineer. He reloaded the software several times again but to no avail. Finally, after having tried for about half-an-hour, he had no clue as to what the problem was but the version he gave me was that the phone's hardware (it's main board) would have to be changed. I asked him how much time it would take and he said that it would take a "maximum" of one week and that I could enquire about the status after 3-4 days. Not so happy,

I submitted my phone at the service centre and went back home hoping for a timely (not quick) repair. After 3-4 days, I called the service centre to enquire about the status and what came was not the status but another shocker. I heard the answerer and his colleague saying between themselves that the phone was nowhere to be found. However, the answerer told me that my phone was safely with them and he would get back to me about the status within 10 minutes. And it was not just this time that they promised to call me back and didn't but this happened everytime I called them. And, I am sure that I must have called them atleast 20 times. The next day, I personally visited the service centre (yet again) only to find out they still did not have any clue about the whereabouts of my phone.

This time I raised my voice and made the engineer look for my phone. It was not without my help that he was finally able to find it in one of the unlocked drawers that any outsider can have very access to. But this was not it. The service centre's copy of the job sheet still not found. The engineer told me that it's not a problem as a new jobsheet can be made!!! Anyway, that was not my problem as I had the customer copy with me. This time the engineer gave me another date 3 days later. The service centre's track record continued and I again had to follow up continously to get my hands on the "repaired" set a delay of just one day. However, the problems did not end here either. The phone was not in a working state. The service centre personnel told me that since the phone's main board has been changed, it will have to be reactivated from the backend and that they have sent a request to the concerned department to get it reactivated. Again, it took continuous following-up on my part to have the phone activated in not less than 3 days. It might sound that this was the end of it, but NO. Now, my phone works, as in I can make and receive calls, but the called party cannot hear what the caller says.

I have described my experience with Tata Indicom above in a very detailed a manner, probably pointing out every small instance of inefficiency on the company's part. The concept of good after-sales service does not exist in India but at the same time, the standard of service at Tata has been extraordinarily poor. And, as I have realized now, it's just not me but other Tata Indicom customers as well who are having a bad time having their Tata products serviced. After saying so much, I really don't think it necessary to make it explicit whether I recommend Tata Indicom to another person.

Virgin Mobile (vGlide) from TATA
Jul 14, 2009 04:35 PM

On April 10, 2009 we bought the much hyped (by the dealer) vGlide from Virgin Mobile. Attractive looks, nice connectivity, cheaper to use was the mantra of the dealer who sold the phone to us.

Virgin pays on incoming calls as all of you might already know. From Day 1 we didnt have any incoming calls. Just outgoings seem to work (because virgin earns on outgoing and loses on incoming) We thought it might be some network issue and will be resolved soon. However, the problem persisted. The phone seems to be going into sleep mode every few hours if its inactive. As soon as we have called someone using the mobile we start to receive any incoming calls. If we dont then the phone is always in an unreachable state irrespective of indoor or outdoors.

We lodged a complaint with the help line. They guaranteed a resolution to the issue in the next 24 hours but with no avail. The dealer has refused to deal with this problem. Tata's technology, customer service and products suck.

We have to add an alarm to wake up this phone every few hours for others to be able to contact us. Very poor service and product indeed. We will never buy a TATA product.

Handset Problems & poor customer care service
Jun 30, 2009 09:17 PM

I bought a tata indicom mobile (SCH-B259) on 1st Jun 09, and it was activated after 4 days from the date of purchase. On 10th Jun 09 I faced the first technical issue - (No incoming & no outgoing calls). Approached the customer care, and suggested by them to reload the SIM, but it doesnt work. Once again called them and instructed by them to reach Cell Solutions, who are the Agents to look into the Handset problems for Tata Indicom Samsumng Models.

Dont know, what they identified the issue from the handset! but they reloaded the Mobile software. After reloading the same by them, current issue doesnt resolved, but additional problems (Poor Display Contrast - no adgestments option, and Keypad no response). Immediately questioned them, why and what is the reason of the problems. They said, we dont know, and we need to send the Piece to SAMSUNG head office. Given the mobile along with the SIM card to them.

It has taken 17 days to get the response and in the mean while I approached the Tata Indicom customer care and argued with them, since I bought it from the same Tata shop and TATA is printed on the Mobile handset. Finally they agreed to deduct the 250/- max from the bill payment, and did not promissed to replace the handset, even the problem created by them (Cell Solutions - Agent for SAMSUNG of Tata Indicom).

Finally they called me on 26th Jun 09 to collect my mobile phone and said it is ready. While taking the mobile again observed the Keypad no responce infront of them. But the Display problem is resolved. When I orgued with them to clear the problem or replace the handset, they dont know any thing, and they need to send it back to SAMSUNG again. I dont know why cant they replace the Handset, since they created problem? I havnt take it back, since still the problem persists on the mobile handset. Once again called the Tata Indicom customer care, and questioned about the situation.

Byt the time they closed the ticket, which was raised for this issue. Since already closed, they have to open another ticket and need to wait for the responce. Why should they close the ticket and why it need to open another one. Who asked them to close it? With out my confirmation they closed the ticket. And now today 30th Jun 09, got the call from customer care of Tata Indicom and questioned what the issue? Discussed the same, what exactly the problem once again. and still they are not agreeing to replace

Tata Indicom one of the best network coverage. I have always preferred Tata Indicom connection to any other connections. It could be one of the BEST only if the Customer Service Executives were properly trained verbally. Very sad they lack in Phone etiquette.

Continuously after calling on customer service none of the executives are able to tackle the problem of the Credit Limit increase as to why it has been increased. Customers are always told to visit the concerned branch. It is because people who are busy cannot keep on visiting the branch that we look up to the customer service executives but of no use.

Another problem that should be tackled is to add any service with the customers' consent. Credit Limits are increased without informing the customers who are not defaulters and who happen to pay the regular bills in time. Hope the Tatas solve this problem and bring a smile on the consumers' face.

Very poor
Apr 25, 2009 02:00 PM

I had purchased a TataWalky at Noida against Cheque payment my phone no no 01206586538 I was sold it saying that whole NCR is covered and Two years rent was taken in advance.

Now neither the phone is working. The customer care is not able to give me any response. But funny reasons are given saying the Gov policy has changed so my phone will not work in Delhi. So I told them to refund me the money and the phone for which TATA INDICOM is not taking any basic responsibility.

Now It is just a plastic toy phone. I would never recommend any one to buy tata as their customer care is of the poorest quality and the after sales service is the worst among st all.

Their TRUE VALUE SHOPS are basically pain to customers.

Most of the times they take decisions without clarifying from the customer. SO I would urge any one wanting to buy phone not to be fooled by Tata indicome we need to say tata Bye Bye as they are professional in unethical marketing. and irresponsible after sales service. I already had very bitter experience with their broad band now am sure about the poorest service provider in mobile service.

Bangalore India
Worst service provider for rural India
Mar 25, 2009 05:03 PM

I had taken connection in 2007 to reach out my retired parents who decided to spend their post retired life in a village which is very well connected to mangalore.

I had opted for a will phone and the delar conviced me that any where you go in karnataka you can use this connection. But some 6 months back we faced the connectvity problem and it was solved after that. from past one month again the same connectivity issue araised.

I raised a complaint no. 58899 and I got a call from chennai telling me that you are not supposed to use a postpaid conection in that area and the signal there is only ment for prepaid connection. That was a great shock I explained them I am using the same connection for past 2 years and it docent have any issue and earlier the issue was resolved they said they will get back to me and no one responded and when traced the complaint no it stated it was closed... another shock for me...

To know the reason I raised another complaint 59295 mentioning the details and the earlier complaint no I had to go through the same process and again the complaint was closed in the same manner. But there are couple of postpaid connection in that area and they all are working fine. I only see one thing is they just dont want to serve the rural mob of india. By this experience I am very sure this cellur provider is ignoring the Rural area of india.

Customer service: TATA bye bye
Mar 25, 2009 01:23 PM

After using tata indicom mobile and land line connection for 5/6 years, I realised I am paying a bomb for my office phone (2landlines) and one mobile connection. My average bill per month was Rs.12000/- pm.

Later I disconnected my Tata landlines and went for BSNL connection, and my bill amount is now less that half.

Now I discovered I am still paying big money for my mobile connection, and hence I am going for Vodaphone which is priced much less. All these 5/6 years Tata's give worst service. Their 121 customer service is OK, but their customer care office at Pune (Shivajinagar) is pathetic.

It is worst than a government office. On many occassions I encountered ANGRY EMPLOYEES scolding customers. I always found it terrifying visiting the customer care office of Tata Indicom at Shivajinagar. The typical scene of customer care office (?) is like a morgue. Tense customers and insensitive employees

I think compared to multinationals Tata's are still far behind in customer service. It seems the fat salaries of Tatas is making their employees lethargic. Irritated customer care officers and receptionist (receptionist is a wrong word here) gives shivers to the waiting customers. It seems for Tata's EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION comes before CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I doubt these employees can work in any other strong headed multinationals.

They have a system of giving some token numbers to waiting customers, but nobody seemed to be asking for tokens., it was free for all fish market for long waiting customers.5/6 years was too long a time to bear with unfriendly employees of Tatas.I am giving a try to a multinational Vodaphone (for mobile) and BSNL (for landlines) now, lets see what happens,

Till then Tata bye to TATA INDICOM,

Sandeep Prabhu

Customer Un Cared
Mar 13, 2009 02:26 AM

As every one knows Tata Indicom uses sub Rs. 3000 Useless handsets.I bought a new handset HTC (6850) Touch pro from USA retailing at around $550 (Htc is the Largest Pocket PC manufaturer in the world.

And the only One making Decent Pocket PCs for CDMA ) and I did all the dirty job of loading there network on the handset (Programing) for them. When dialing *228 TATA Indicom Network asked me for a 14 digit number to transfer my number to that handset I asked for that number from the customer care. They replied that they cannot activate a foreign handset on there network. (A White Lie)

I contacted there nodal office and some junior staff tried to take up my case and this is there reply. Withreference to your mail below, we wish to inform you that asconfirmedwith concern team, we regret our inability to transfer thehandset fromsim based to Nonsim handset. Should you require any further assistance do feel free to write to us at cs.helpdesk@tatatel.co.in

Thanks and Regards,

Customer Care

TATA Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd."

Although I was already using HTC (6800) Mogul on the same number that too being a foreign handset. on the same Network / Number. I Sold (the old HTC 6800) that handset to an employee of tata Indicom only... and transfered my number on a sim card. For this upgrade handset (HTC 6850)

After this I bought a Handset change card from a Shop and transferred my Prepaid number on it and the handset was activated in less than 5 seconds. (Handset change card can work on Prepaids only.) couldnt let my $550 go down the drain!!!

How this miracle happened if foreign handsets cannot be activated on there network?

When I threatened them by mail that I will cancell my 5 year old postpaid connection with them. And take all my 12 other postpaid connections to the operator who will activeate my phones (BSNL Tarang) This was there reply

"Dear Sir,

With reference to your mail below, request you to please visit our TATA public office.

Should you require any further assistance do feel free to write to us at cs.helpdesk@tatatel.co.in

Thanks and Regards,

Tata Indicom wireless internet (plug 2 surf)
Mar 05, 2009 11:10 AM

I cannot review the product as I have not been able to get it to work, but this is a review of the customer service provided.

I purchased the plug 2 surf feature from Tata Indicom, primarily because of the Tata name, assuming it would be reliable with reliable customer support.I was very disappointed with the feature, as I was unable to get it to work. On repeated calls to the person who provided me the service as well as calls and emails through their website https://tataindicom.com/customer-service.aspxI got no response or help either.

Each time (without fail) I would get the response, that we will get back to you, but to no avail. One thing that did come without fail was the monthly bill. Fed up I decided to stop the payment to elicit a response. Sure enough I got the call, but when I asked them to send someone to make it work, the response was ..... you got it .... "we will get back to you".

Finally I called them to cancel the service, even that is not easy, apparently I have to be back in person, in Delhi to go to their office to cancel it.I just got a call from a lawyer about a lawsuit to recover the bill amount....Ridiculous for a service that did not work even onceI would not recommend Tata Indicom to anyone. The service may work for most, but anytime there is an issue do not expect any help from their Customer (un)Support.unfortunately I cannot give 0 stars, as they do not even deserve a single star

TATA Indicom Walky prepaid woes!
Feb 25, 2009 06:17 PM

I am using Tata Indicom Landline prepaid from past three years. Till Oct08 it was working ok, I mean just ok, nothing great. First issue came up regarding the walk handset. The battery of the handset was not working and most of the times the calls started dropping.

So I decided to put a complaint and fortunately to my surprise, I got a brand new LG handset in replacement. However my worries started from here. The new handset (LG make) was worse than the earlier one. It could not stand even an hour without power.

Or I should say, with full battery signal and no power connected, you could hardly make a 3 minute call. If the call goes thru, you should consider yourself lucky. Secondly, in spite of the indicator showing full tower signal, we could hardly make any calls.

Whenever called my number from other phone, the first thing you will hear is "the number is out of coverage". Only if you redial the number 3-4 times, you would get connected. When we start to dial the number, the same thing!! Seven out of ten calls you make would be dropped. Then, my next obvious step was to contact the customer care.

Connecting to the customer care thru the toll free number provided is such an irritating experience. After the wait of 2-3 minutes for the IVR, when you get connected to the actual living person, they simply disconnect the call. Please believe me. Either they were doing it deliberately or may be there is some system problem. I could say this because I can hear some background voices.

Mostly this happens when you call during the evening hours. Coming to the complaint resolution part - After wasting time by talking to customer care over the issues regarding Handset battery problem and network problem, I decided to write a mail.

I got a mail id from customer care and put a mail mentioning my telephone number. And then I got a reply from the very own Tata Indi executive saying that "your number is incorrect". Please correct the number and resend the mail.

I was surprised to know that the executive can not even identify there own Tata numbers, forget about the complaint resolution. Anyhow I kept on writing mails without getting any feedback. Lastly I somehow contacted the customer care again. And he gave me a wonderful resolution:

  1. As TATA Indi could not resolve the network issue, I have to buy a patch cord and check whether it is working fine. (If it doesn't work, then that is not TATA's problem!!).

  2. Regarding the handset, they gave me few addresses, where I have to take my phone personally and get it checked.

So I made a decision now. I will go to the nearest TATA indicom office, and ask my connection to be discontinued and get the deposit along with the balance money on the prepaid back. I would suggest all of you to avoid going for the TATA landline wireless connection, without checking the handset / network. Ok , just don't go for it.

Never buy a Tata indicom wireless landline
Feb 18, 2009 07:03 PM

Tata Indicom wireless phone is a big cheating in terms of Tariff . Once you are trapped you will lose money . Its sure bet . If you have doubt please comapre tariff plans of any other service provider in the country .

I had very bitter experience by opting Tataindicom wireless service in Tamilnadu . I started at the begining of tata indicom service in tamilnadu by opting a plan for Rs.99 Rental . After few months they changed my plan to Rs.199/- per month rental with out informing and send bills. When I asked about this , they ( called 121 ) informed Plan -99 is no more , so we changed it .

This time , I remember , the STD charges , billed for me is Rs.2.90/- per minute . It continured for years . When my phone bill is low - customer care persons used to call and enquired why the phone bill is less .

However very lately I came to know that the STD charges are very high , comapring with otherservice providers . The customer care fellows trapped and simply kept me in the higher tariff answering my queris very tactfully .

The saga of cheating not ends with there , but I am not intend to write a very long story to make people avoid readig this due to its long nature and check about tariff plans before they trapped in the beautiful advertisements.

Some customer service this...
Jan 18, 2009 09:29 PM

On 18.01.2009 I called up prepaid customer care at 7 pm sharp.Someone received my call but did not talk for nearly 9 minutes and 35 seconds.I could hear some kind of celebrations going on and names of Vishal, Vinod, and Gaikwad were being shouted.A party celebration. After that someone realised my call was on and immediately disconnected. When I dialled customer care againI spoke to one Mr.Vinayak who was not helpful.I wanted to talk to the Senior Supervisor. He took 15 minutes of persuasion and than allowed me to speak to one Mr.Naresh Gangwani, who told me that he is a supervisor.I am not satisfied with the serviceprovided by companys customer care.Every time I call customer care I am supposed to give my name and residential address and because of this the company is putting me at a public exposure risk by asking me my residential address(irrespective of them toknow whether I am in a railway train or a crowded bus or a restaurant) and letting the whole world know where I stay. All this in the name of Account security.Stop it.I also demand disciplinary action against Vishal, Vinod, Gaikwad, Vinayak fordeleriction of duty and causing inconvenience to customer.*

Tata handset problems
Dec 10, 2008 01:00 AM

I have been using Tata for 3 years till now.But since past one and half year I face the problem of echo in network.I tried using 4 handsets but the problem was not solved. It is definitely a issue with their network not the handsets. The customer care says handsets are faulty.Whatever the reason, I am discontinuing the tata service due to echo problem and poor quality of cdma handsets. Also cdma handsets heat more than GSm handsets.

This happens because the consumption of battery is more on cdma network. That explains the reason why gsm handsets offer more battery talktime than cdma. Also due to this heating I am worried about trouble to my ears. The call rate is now same for other operators as well, also they never resolved the echo problems in their network and low quality of handsets and heating problem in handsets.

So I am discontinuing being their customer.

Tata Indicom Mobile services
Dec 09, 2008 01:16 PM

That's the one word I can think about it nowadays when it comes to TATA Indicom services. I am using TATA connections from say last 2-3 years, always with some or other issues. One of my mobile is of TATA Indicom & after I changed my no for, say 3-4 months back, (as I had some similar issues with previous connection as well), suddenly I was not able to send or receive any calls or SMS anyone including their customer support nos.

I talked to their customer support for at least 9 times & imagine. Nothing got improved. My phone remain dead! FOR NO REASON. Their SMS indicated that "my account is in expired state. DO contact customer support." I checked out the same with the support people at TATA Indicom & they said that there is no such problem & my account in perfectly alright, with no issues.*

Then I asked these guys to check if there is any technical issue, say in their Database or some system-related issue. They gave up & said they have no issues & I might have to go to some TVS to "MAP" the SIM card. (Later, I guessed that TVS is True Value Shop for TATA Indicom...huh). Also, they told me that they are not sure about how much time it could take & I will need to pay for that! Great, isn't it?

And, this is all they told me on the 3rd day of my phone being not working, inspite of their promise that it will be on in 24 Hrs, as promised a day before. That''s ridiculous!!!!!*

You are the best judge when it comes to buying services. This is just another event, unfortunately. I am involved in this. Now, I have decided to disconnect this service. Be careful. Better you watch yourself before you get into the trap!

I really didnt expected this from TATA's company. Really sad!!!

Tata indicom mobile
Dec 08, 2008 08:37 PM

About 2-yrs back I bought tata indicom motorola mobile from a local shop. the price was rs 600 with everything and some talk time, afterwards, I had a lot of difficulty finding currency, even today very few retailers carry currency (talk time) cards.

The coverage and quality of the network is not great but also even in town the connection is not good. although this is so in the town, I found that in other areas like andhra where hutch doesn't work , tata indcom is able to connect with low quality. Fast & undisturbed connectivity, worst handsets!!!
Nov 10, 2008 04:13 PM

I am a very consistent and loyal customer of TATA Indicom for the last two years. as far as network service and connectivity is concerned indicom is best. in the urban areas we will get its coverage all over the places in full. here you can ask me, even other service providers are also providing the same network coverage then how it is best. the answer is that whenever you will call from a indicom mobile you will get connected in a single attempt (both in local as well as STD) and after getting connected you wiil get clear voice and  your call will not be lost until you disconnect yourself.

as I am using a pre paid mobile, the recharge coupon are available all the outlets and the charges are also satisfactory. (special 325 freedom voucher)

the negative part of indicom is its handsets. TATA indicom provides worst range of it handsets specially Haire and Huai. it also provides Nokia  and Motorola sets. but very limited.
