I bought a Dell Studio laptop 1458 with a 2 year extended warranty. Not even 1 year is over and the left shift key of laptop is not working. I registered a complaint on Dell India toll free no.about 14 days back.However till today, the service engineer from Dell has not turned up.


All they give u a case ID and service no. Dell has outsourced servicing to third parties and for small flimsy reasons wrong pin code etc( mistakes on part of Dell or its appointed service associates) consumer like me suffer. All this tall claims made by Del about next 1-2 da business days service at onsite is just bogus.


Moreover the Dell support team never calls nor write a email to check whether complaint is resolved or not. They will call u aggressively to sell their products, extended warranty, laptop insurance but basic service is lacking.

NEVER EVER EVER BUY A DELL LAPTOP

I am so happy to find a place where I can place my review about dell studio. I brought the laptop around 1 and half years before. I brought it online tat itself took me a lot of time . and I had to call and enquire every time .


Its customer service is worst . I have ever seen . After we brought the product no one is interested in any of the other service formalities. And there is no service center. My laptops display panel was broken from one side when I had got it as parcel . from that time i was trying to get it repaired I left it after 6 months of complains .


Before one year its battery also went and now the charger. When I call the customer care few day before there pricing was interested to here Charger 4000, battery around 4000 and panel problem 7000


So I could buy a new laptop for this much rupees now. Its a real pain buying a dell laptop .


So I again and again warn u from going for dell.

Defective product and pethatic service

I had made the biggest mistake by purchasing the Dell Studio laptop. I was asked by my company to purchase laptop of any brand for discharging official duties. Out of the available brands in market, and after considering the after sales service records I had chosen Dell laptops as the same was within the range and was from reputed company like dell.


My dreams were very short lived, problem started the day I received the delivery of lap top. It had excessive heating, long delay in shutting down up to almost 20 minutes; Hanging is common problem, delayed start and battery backup etc. I lodged the complaint and the complaint was promptly attended by executive/engineer who had a look at my lap top. The visiting engineer had a look and started to update the available software and after diagnostics gave the certificate that the laptop is OK however on checking my laptop it was observed that the USB port which was working previous had also stopped working and he had also uninstalled windows and the other problems is still persisting The second complaint was lodged with Dell, The experience was even worse then the previous time Dell engineer had visited to have looked at my lap top. First of all he was busy talking on phone and during the process he had scribbled by pen on the beautiful pink top of the lap top for which Dell had charged me separately.


Further, dell engineer was alike super human had solved my complaint of this lap top of heating, not enough battery back up USB port not operating and hanging in just fifteen minutes by just running diagnostics and trying to convince me that “all is well” He even thought me how to run the diagnostic myself ands I am really thankful to him that he thought me the super human skill to me and I do not call the dell representative and this may further result in more damage to my lap top.


I dare not lodge another complaint as I fear further destruction of my laptop. The similar experience of the executives in my organization after number of repairs to dell studio laptop the problem still stays.


My advice: Please do not go for Dell Studio Laptop the Laptop has manufacturing defect.

Always go for dell for a good service

Some of you might have bad experience with dell but if you compare this dell with any of its competition it will rock any day. I have studio 1435 and more on this laptop I will comment on dell service.


After being tormented and harassed by worst HCL I choose dell now the best part of dell are as follows:


1)you can configure it on the website and get it delivered from home without any dealer being involve so the system you get is directly from the factory and is totally new and the staff will also assist you in choosing the system as unlike a local dealer they are not interested  in disposing the piece to you which he is not being able to sell.


2) now the major part is service as I was a victim of HCL poor service I choose a dell complete cover for rs800 extra to the total price of the system . in this I was able to replace any part of the pc which even have a single scratch.apart from the regular warranty


3) whenever I use to call them they will ask me to send the photo of the part and the new part was couriered directly from singapore/hyderabad without any question asked for free to my place the very first day and was delivered to me next day by bluedart couriers the next day the engineer would come and replace the part.due to this I have replaced  even the lcd screen for free when it have scratches on it.the next day the courier guy would come again to take back the faulty part


4)the engineer told me that he have even visited laddakh once to provide the on site support to a home user.


So all those who are willing to buy sony vaio or any such premium brand like that just think for a while that will they be able to provide such service or not, specially if you use laptop daily on rough and tough bases.

Quite Good Hardware With Lot Quality LCD

I bought Dell Studio 1457 laptop in June. They delivered it quickly and I am satisfied it. Build Quality is good and it also looks great.


However, LCD used on the laptop seems to be of low quality as I have started seeing dead pixels. Till now, two dead pixels have appeared and I wonder if they will increase. I checked Dell India Website and they mention that upto 8 pixels are fine for LCDs which is not a good policy because these really look bad!

I would say go for it! the best laptop and services u can get. thought the battery dies in 3 hours. but apart from this, everything else is perfect and actually satisfactory. the graphics of this studio 15 are really awesome. and the sound quality is also too good. if u watch a movie with head phones on. and the dolby digital and SRS premium sound on, then its really a theatre experience. and windows 7 is nice. this OS has made operating simple. worth buying this laptop. u can actually say its a paisa vasool gadget u can buy.

DELL 15 (1558) studio a chinese crap

I am a software developer my previous employer had provided me a Dell inspiron it was plain laptop china made with low quality materials, display and sound was very poor that didn't matter to me as I was using just for programming purpose and it was fine with that never enjoyed movie or songs in it...within 1 year of use the condition of laptop was pathetic with total worn out look and looked something like used for ages


I was in Saudi that time and wanted to buy a laptop for my personal use so I checked dell laptops it was cheaper compared to India but I didn't like it because quality of material used was poor since it was china made ( obvious thing).so I dropped my plan of buying laptop in Saudi I though I will get better quality laptop in India as India is IT major and good quantity of laptops are sold here so I should get good one.


After coming down to India I checked Dell laptops in Chroma shops and found that same Chinese made are imported in India but I had seen dell studio laptop with my friend which was Malaysia made and it was beautiful after checking that laptop only I decided to go with dell studio I thought If I order Online I will get Malaysia made laptop.So I ordered online spent around Rs 48, 000 with laptop bag when my parcel arrived and when I opened that parcel I was totally pissed off.


It was same Chinese made crap with low quality material used for its body and keypads.


Color pathetic, no elegance


No led's for caps , numeric LAN etc


Display OK, sound better than inspiron


media keys and function keys are overlapped when I want to debug a program I need to hold function key and press F5, F7 F8 F10 F11 etc which is irritating.They should have provided separate keys for media


I didn't like paying windows OS with it as I can get same work from Ubuntu (linux)  its kinda forcing OS on us I asked laptop without OS they said they don't sell it like that


everything is charged nothig is free no headphone no memory stick no free laptop bag.If I had bought it from local dealer instead of placing order online at least I would have got something for free


the bag(Belkin) they provided for  Rs1500 got no cushions and of cheap synthetic material You get far better laptop bags in market


Rs48K is not too low amount  to expect a laptop with good quality material .My brother is having DELL laptop from US and difference is big  and he paid less for it!!! so why we Indians getting this chinese crap and how come same dell is coming with better quality in US market


Its face detection is one more thud Its booting a profile with no Icons in desktop  ..again I have to restart and put my password to get my desktop back

I use this laptop as a complete replacement and substitute for a desktop PC. As I had customized it, it took around a month and a half to arrive, but I had  ordered before Christmas so there would have been an understandable  backlog. If you are buying this product for someone as a gift and are customizing it, I would either order it well in advance or tell them you will buy it on the day and order it with them letting them choose which  features they would like, otherwise you risk it not arriving on time.


Ever since I bought it, I have had few problems using it whenever and  for whatever I have needed it for. It runs high demand programs  effectively, plays high definition videos with ease and runs some of the  newest computer games around. The JBL speakers installed are fantastic quality and I  was surprised to find a subwoofer in the back of the laptop, something I  had not expected when ordering it.


The one problem I have had occasionally is when playing music and running lots of programmes at the same time. The RAM copes easily but the processors seem to max out at 100% regularly on  such occasions which significantly slows the machine down, even with a  large page file. However, it's not often this situation occurs and many  people would not require the laptop to do this many things, they would  use a desktop PC.


Although this exact product is now difficult to buy new, I would recommend any of the Studio range laptops,  especially if you would use it for playing media. There is even a touch  screen version available to make the most of Windows 7!

If you are planning to switch from your regular desktop to a laptop machine or buy a laptop for first (even 2nd or 3rd time) time, never ever think about about buying one from DELL.


I bought mine in 2007 and within one year all the trouble started. The bigger problem than the laptop fault was getting service. As many of us know today that DELL does not have any service centers. They promise you to give service just by calling them but never trust them. I struggled for almost 6 months to get my laptop serviced. The customer care number always goes on hold. They will make you wait for hours, but you will never reach through them. Even if call goes to first attendant by luck, there are series of attendants who pass your call to concerned department. In the mean time your call either gets disconnected or will be in wait for hours. Other than these there are several reasons to avoid DELL brand. Such as1. The hopeless service and DELL Laptops are much heavier. 2. Most of the dell laptops don't have much hardware connectivity options unlike in HP brand. Ex: No Printer Serial port, S-Video etc as found in HP.3. The slot load DVD drive poorly reads any disc and has 95% chance of getting fault within a year. Most of the times the disc gets stuck inside and can't be ejected.4. My laptop screen got damaged within first 5 months for which I struggled for 6 months to get service and hence my warranty period was lost in this attempt. (See Attached Video)5. Most the drivers that comes with DELL OS are not compatible with general applications. Ex: The sound is disabled when google talk or yahoo messenger is used and every time you need to restart the machine to get it back.6. Quick Shortcut keys like play, pause, stop etc. buttons on the top of keyboard are useless as they are capacitive type which often stops working and you need to remove battery and put it back to make it work. The disadvantage is shortcut keys light up only when touched and hence difficult to see key's location as both background and key color are same.7. The worst speakers you will ever find which makes burst noise. The volume level is too low and worst quality. You can compare it with ALTEC Lancing which comes in HP brand and you will find a tremendous difference in quality and output. ALTEC Lancing is the Best which is found in HP machines.8. The touch-pad doesn't come with lock key as found in HP machine.9. The dell support center application that comes with every dell machine for support services has nasty BUG (ERROR) which gives a"Stack over at level 0" error which reduces your machine speed to 12-14% and sometimes machines crashes which is very dangerous.(Check the attached image).

DELL does not live upto its brand-name!!

I got a DELL studio design 1558 laptop on 7th june, 2010. It was air-shipped from Bangalore, I had ordered it from a DELL showroom in Nehru Place.  Besides, I paid a huge price for this model. I bought 1 year accidental damage cover also. My laptop screen's bottom left hinge broke accidentally and I have called their Customer service toll-line no. a number of times, but hardly anyone picks up the phone.


Finally, one day, I got through to their executives. He came over, checked it but could not repair it at that moment. He assured me that one of their executives would come and get it fixed soon..that was on the 28th July.


So far, no one has yet come from DELL, despite numerous reminders to them. Its now nearly a month, no response from them. I just have to say that DELL's after-sales service is the worst I have ever come across in any after-sales service, I would not recommend anyone to buy DELL just bcoz of their terrible customer service (Non) support. Though DELL laptops are not bad, but their customer service is pathetic. I never expected this type of non-existent  response from a reputed American brand called DELL INC.


Seriously, if they would give whole-hearted attention to their DELL customers, it would really boost DELL sales, coz after-sales service is what counts the most in marketing strategy. I just hope that DELL would realize what DELL customers face once they buy their products. Please improve DELL Customer Care Support and After-Sales Service..!!!

DELL is HELL - DELL 1558

I contacted dell India office for purchasing a Dell studio laptop. I was routed to sales person of dell. Placed an order with him for Dell Studio 1558 laptop. Invoice and quotation are in my name. Got the system


delivered at my address in Bangalore. There is no EBP or employee reduction claimed in the process.


On 26th July 2010 got blue screen in system. Called up Dell tech support, they tried to format the system remotely but then also same problem of blue screen persisted. Technical support person asked me to give the


System to Authorized service center located in Divyasree greens in Bangalore.


Gave the laptop to Authorized service center in Bangalore on 29-July-2010. No response or even a call from them till Saturday 31-July-2010. Called the service center they were telling parts have not yet arrived for the


laptop. Wrote a mail to technical support, one guy called up from Dell Technical support Chennai and said that parts have been shipped to Bangalore. But no response from dell service center Bangalore after that.


Called them up and followed with them. Service center guys were telling after replacing RAM, Hard disk and Motherboard still same blue screen problem persisted. They wanted to replace processor and check it.


In this point I told dell service center guys that all major components in the system has been replaced and I want the entire laptop to be replaced. Service center people asked me to call up dell customer support and


raise a request for laptop replacement. Called up Dell customer support and got connected to System replacement team. Team said the laptop is not bought in my name and is in some Dell employees name( which I


don’t understand how it happened or where the confusion is and from where Dell system replacement team got the invoice details. I would like someone from Dell to clarify this. Where is the confusion, on whose name


laptop is bought?). Because of this issue system cannot be replaced.


Dell service center guys called me up at this time and said they have raised a request for system replacement from their end. Mean while I had sent a mail to chennai DELL technical support from dell and asked him


when I will get the system. Dell Technical support chennai called me up and said that system replacement will not be possible because of following two reasons


Reason 1:. system was not bought in my name it was bought in some dell emplyees name (which is not correct there is no EBP or employee reduction claimed in the process.)


Reason 2: System replacement can be done only within a month of purchase of laptop and warranty only covers that. Other wise replacement can be done only if major components of laptop like Mother board, Hard


disk, LCD Monitor or processor are replaced. But in my case only Mother board and hard disk come under this category not RAM. So replacement will not be possible.


Meanwhile Dell technical support chennai confreneced us with Dell service center Bangalore and the service center guys were telling they have raised a request for system replacement.


After hearing this Dell technical support chennai was telling if service center is giving replacement he has nothing to do with that.


Wrote a long mail to dell customer service asking following questions.


In whose name the laptop is bought? - Why dell is not sharing data of customers within its internal departments??


Whether this comes under the one year warranty or not?


Whether my laptop will be replaced or not? If no please let me know the reason.


Who is the correct person who would update me about the progress of the system replacement ( if its being done).


Why is the responsible person who I could talk with?


Why people within dell are not coordinating among themselves and talking in a single voice to the customer each one is saying something and confusing me


someone named Jacob called me up and apologized for the confusion he confirmed the laptop has been bought in my name and replacement request is in progress.


After submiting my laptop got a mail from jacob saying that will be getting my laptop within Sep 3rd.


Waiting for it will update once I get it.


so though the cost of dell is some 3k to 4k less than others. their after sales service is pathetic.


Felt I have made a wrong choice of selecting dell, DELL is HELL.

Eternal waiting for my DELL laptop

This review is even before I got my DELL Studio 14 laptop in my hand. Actually it is still not in my hand! I chose DELL because they allow you to customize the configuration of your laptop and of course the colors are pretty attractive. I placed my order at an exclusive DELL store on 8 July, 2010, and paid with hard cash. The salesperson said that I would be getting my laptop in 2 weeks time max.


Apparently if you buy your laptop from a DELL store the transaction is much smoother and faster. The catchword is "apparently." Today is 24 August and I am still waiting for my laptop :(


First I got a mail from them, and the gist of the mail is that they don't have the bluetooth headset that I wanted so would I like to wait for it or would I take it afterward when its available. I said I don't want to hold up my laptop for a headset, so go ahead and deliver it without the headset and give me the headset when it is available. This done I am waiting but no news from them for a long long time.


I checked status online and got to know that the manufacture of my laptop was complete on Aug 5 and will be delivered soon. Believe it or not, delivery date is still N/A!!!


I am a very patient person, but they tried my patience! I mailed them asking what's up (actually I vented all my wrath in the mail) and all I got was automated replies saying we got your mail, thank you for contacting us and we will deal with your query shortly. And that was the end of it!!


So I called them up on their toll free number and they said my pincode was wrong so they had stopped shipping. I know its just a story they are making up. If it was wrong couldnt they have just called me up or mailed me to ask me for the right pin code! What were they waiting for? Divine intervention!!! To be on the safe side, I not only told them my pincode on phone, I mailed it to them also, just in case. This happened on Aug 11, 2010!!


God I am so sick of it all!! I wish I had gone to croma or something and bought something off the shelf. I would have had to pay some 5000/- more but they would have given me complementary accessories and wouldnt have treated me like shit!!


I never had to wait this much even for my BSNL phone connection and broadband!! And everyone knows that waiting for BSNL is legendary!!! God even they came and set up the phone in one week!! and transferred it to the place we moved in one day! And canceled the broadband when we didnt want it in one minute!! If you are buying DELL laptops please be prepared to grow roots and vegitate for a long long time :)

MY DELL NIGHTMARE!

I got my Dell Studio 14 about August 2009 and must say since then it has been ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE


I got enticed by the looks and I must say I Feel absolutely taken for a ride!


Within a month, the notebook developed a display problem and after a lot of head breaking and going through the horrible online support (You got guys with great English accent....absolute duds and they will keep on transferring calls till you are hearing their hold deceiving reassuring messages and then you find your problem is not even understood' and then they promised to send a service engineer. Mind you service engineers are outsourced and absolutely screwdriver duds picked from the street. The guy who came in did not havea clue about how to dismantle the system and I saw my new system being devoured by this guys who after replacing the display landed up breaking the bezel and then discovered he had extra screws which he did not know what to do with!


It worked for a while and then the system malfunctioning suddenly switching off, display going off etc. I had to start chasing the dell support nightmare again! And after close to month losing sleep over my work due to my notebook, Dell guys decided they will replace my system and that took them 3 months.


I got my new system (minus the memory upgrade for all the hassle I went through, which of course never came!) After getting the new system I was at least hoping to put all the past back as me being unlucky and start afresh but the new system starting giving trouble within a month again and this time theproblems were many -the battery would not last even 2 hours(mind you I had gone for an extended battery that was promised to give 4 hours), system heated up within an hour that I could hardly keep my hand on the palmrest, data cards will not work on left USB, keyboard gave problems, the operating system started misbehaving with sudden shutdowns.


And this time my Nightmare with Dell service was more frustrating! During my last experience after months of escalations once senior guy apparently a manager spoke so sweetly and promised me after replacement, if I ever had a problem I just need to tell him and he would take care, Trusting his words I wrote to hm in detail, after two mails he simply sent me a cryptic reply ...contact dell tech support. After my useless headbreaking to get contact of a escalation contact, country head ( I remember asking for the escalation contact for over 15 mails and it never got replied!) Ultimately I was asked to take my system to Dell service centre, they told me I should surrender my system and would get it back after 4 days till parts came. I tried explaining him that I needed the system and he could always call me after parts came and I will come. I requested to atleast correct the keyboard problem (the keyboard went beserk! If I pressed "y" it would print a series of 'a" and more crazy things like that to the extend I could not login since my password was not recognised! Even I tried convincing him that it appeared to me to be a driver problem, he insisted keyboard had to be replaced (incidentally an onsite guy replaced my keyboard & battery only acoupleof daysbefore). Deciding it was futile, I told him I will come back the next day, and overnight frantically searched through the internet and got a solution for the keyboard problem ( in the process I also realised that there were so many who have bore the burnt of Dell's poor quality and service, thanks to the good soul who had put up the trick, it was simple and it worked- I was atleast relieved that I was able to login. Then again took my system the next day and he took my system for two days and told they have replaced the heat sink, keyboard & reinstalled the operating system. It is about a fortnight since that my data card still does not get recognised and the system has started heating up again! NEVER AGAIN A DELL IN MY LIFE! Some frustrated soul has very righty put it 'What the 'D'ELL! I have atleast 40 odd mails besides the numerous calls (dont have count!) that are proof enoughthat witness my nightmare with dell.


Thanks for mouthshut for this forum atleast provide a channel for affected customers like me to share myexperience help so that atleast others take right decisions with vendors like Dell who take customers for granted, con them with glitz ads & smooth speaking sales guysthatdecietfully reassure of qualityand take them for a ride with their poor quality products atleast in India. I am sure in the US they will behave better else they will get sued.


I am hoping to write to the press so that vendors likeDelldont take customer for granted.


I could not select less than 1 to indicate my anguish with Dell service, Quality & Durability and Value for money (Mind you Dell charges a premium over other competing products)

Yours is the new chic

My personal choice of lap topping is the Dell Studio 15, so prominent a choice that this review is indeed spilling from the tender keys that it possesses. I recently bought this after being given an extended overdraft on my account, and a desire to play the Sims 3 meant that I needed to buy a new laptop.


Now dont get me wrong, the laptop is very fast, and runs almost all new games and programs with the greatest of ease at the highest graphical settings, but its power does fall short once the love of that game you bought runs its course. Thats right. The Sims 3 held my interest for around a month, and I found the gameplay lacking, so I sold it. And here I now am, with one of the best computers around and the only game I now play is Football Manager, one of the least demanding games for a computer. And with the HD screen that was included in the computer, yet no HD player, I seem to have wasted alot of money now

The purchase went smooth. I ordered it online on 7th July and got it delivered on 12th July. Much earlier than the actual delivery date.


The latop is functioning properly without any problems. Regarding the heat issue cited across all forums, well, when you shift to "Performance" mode the laptop does get a little hot however; nothing crazy like others complain about. Also, it remains silent no matter which power plan you select. On "Balanced" or "Dell recommended" mode it does not get hot so I guess Dell has fixed the heat issue with the newer lots of 1558 laptops.


Fortunately, everything, right from sales to product usage was a piece of cake and I hope the same continues.


The quality of the Targus bag is also very nice (black soft leather) and is very useful.


The performance of the laptop is really nice, no lag also whatsoever. Forgot to purchase Mcafee 15 month license and when requested Dell they said that cant be done as the order has been completed from their end.


Have run bluray dvds and work top notch on this machine without any performance or heat issue.


It has a glossy bezel hence; it is finger print prone. Cannot think of any negatives except for the commmon indiciators of HDD, network status, caplocks and wifi not being there.


I would recommend this customised latptop to every individual.


The total price was Rs. 58, 100 including delivery, handling and taxes.

Dell laptops shipping without OS CD

I bought Dell Studio 1558 along with all high configurations and Window 7 Home Premium OS.


Strange thing is, even we pay for the OS license they don't give us CD of the OS and for that shamelessly they say we have stopped giving CD of OS. Now you see here that we are paying for something and still upfront they slap you saying that we dont give CD. If you dont want the laptop you can return it back and you wiil get your money back. Very shamelessly they say we dont say that we are giving CD but they don't say that they dont give CD too.


According to me it is clearly understood that if I'm buying something I should get that thing. But here they dont bother for your understanding. Just one and half month back they were giving CD and that time also there was no change in their site or it was no where mentioned.


Reasons for not giving you the CD:: They give you image of your installation in the hard disk (Why should I satisfy with the image while I've paid for media)


Again you can't make partition in your hard disk, otherwise that image wont work. That means you're not a sole owner of your laptop. To do that you need pay again to DELL.


Now what is the lose to you in long run?


As you have only image, if your harddisk is crashed after one yearand younot have OS to install, you must buy new hard disk from DELL.


That hard disk will not come at the hard disk price. For that you have to renew support registratioin. That will cost you more than Rs. 7500. Then only you can buy new peripherals from DELL.


But ya, you can go fornew hard disk from anywhere else and use pirated OS CD even you have license with registered with Microsoft, because youwould not like to pay again and again for the same thing.


So this is the DELL strategy to keep you pay them if you buya product from DELL.


Now let's come to their Suppport quality::


There is a sound coming from DVD drive since the first time I switched on the laptop. Initially I did not know from where that is coming. So I called to support center. The executive on the other end says me take a screw driver and open the laptop. I said I dont have matching screw driver so he said avail it and then give a call Or go to our service center.


When I denied for that and asked him to send an executive as part of the service contract, he said it will charge me Rs. 1300.


I could not understand why should I pay for the faulty system shipped by them?

Now upfront they say me, if you are not satisfied with DELL you can return the laptop within 21 days of delivery, but we wont provide you your Windows 7 CD even you have paid for it.


So this is all DELL is. Shameless, rediculous etc... I will keep adding my further experiences...


My latest experience Dt. 1/3/2011.


Below is the one of the mail I wrote to DELL officials after a frustration:


Hi,


I called your customer care also. They want to diagnose my system without charging.


Can you explain me how is it possible to diagnose the system while the charger itself is


not working.


I already got diagnose it at DELL service center but he did not give any reference number.


Now as if DELL Service center and you customer support has no sync, I should not be


the sufferer. But your Customer support supervisor is not ready to understand the logical


matter. He want to diagnose first without having my system charged for Charger also.


Can you explain me how can this be possible to diagnose a charger and speaker of the laptop without


having the system charged. And if I can't make it posible for him, I wont get any support from  DELL.


Is this the support and complete cover for which I have paid to DELL?

Big heating problem

I bought Dell studio 15 (i3, 320 Sata, 4 GB ram, 9 cell, 15.6, 1 gb external graphics card) last month. I geta good discount and in beginning I am very happy to see performance and style. Just to give a bench mark, with famvilee on facebook, it utilizes 66% of my ram, but application runs seamless. Now the first problem arises when I closed the lid for having lunch. When I open it back, the mouse scroller below keyboard it is so hot that I cant even touch it. So as the side areas. It is also difficult to work it putting on your lap, as bottom of laptop is also heated up.


Then the charger. Seriously, I was shocked the way it gets heated up. You have to leave it for 15-20 min to cool down before putting it back in bag.


Third problem is graphics. When I move the laptop while running, it hangs or all graphics go for a toss. I have to reboot twice or thrice before making it finally come back again. This may be due to loose graphics card from inside.


Folks, its a good product, but keep in mind the heating problem, it requires a good ac. if you are planning to work in field/non ac places, then don't buy.

I bought a DELL laptop last August and find it a good value for money. It is excellent to watch movies, except for the fact that it does not have a perfect colour. For example, if you are looking at a totally black screen, you would still find it to be emitting a lot of light due to which the images are always bright.


The back lit keyboard is really a great feature as you can effortlessly use the laptop even in the night. Batteries are a problem as within a year, I am getting the message from the system to replace it. For home use where there is no need to work on this laptop on the move, I would say that this is a safe bet.

Dear all, I am Sreekanth Sundar.2 weeks before I purchased a dell studio 14 laptop booked thru online. The customization option given by the dell team was very wide and useful. I opted a 14" 4GBDDR3 320 GB HDD and 1 GB on-board Graphics. The lap seemed to be very solid and stiff except the keyboard. The Windows 7 OS is apt for such a machine and it works very smoothly with ol its features. But maximum of 4 partitions are allowed by the OS which is a negative mark I think.


The Audio was superb and the screen clarity was amazing. The creative audio solution is a superb combination for music lovers.The HDMI port provided is also very useful for connecting to external LCD tv's. The number of USB ports seemed to be very low. The Keyboard seemed to be very fragile as the key's will shake like anything while typing and ol. The Slot DVD Drive is a big negative mark bcoz once a disk gets hanged we have to restart the system to eject it. The Battery back up is fine and the lap seems to be having less weight as compared to HP.


So guys. overall its a amazing laptop for those who wants to take entertainment and everyday use

I have this dell studio laptop .It is  the best in this range .With all the features you have the advantage of customizing the product to your requirement.Great sound, video quality and excellent graphics.Ideal for home office use and great for gaming too. All in all, a must recommended to buy.
