Probably any ISP in the market today is better than Sify Broadband. I have been subscribing to their 1GB 1 month limited package for a long time now, and trying in every possible way to make it work. But these are just a bunch of crooks who are out there to cheat you. Given the number of pending litigations in the judiciary you can't expect much succour from there either. The best thing you can do is BOYCOTT SIFY BROADBAND and spread the word far and wide. Squeeze them out of the market. Share your experiences with Sify on every internet forum possible. This is a consumer-driven market and we are the ones who call the shots.


Every night the CTO turns off the hub and service in not available until 10:00 or 11:00 on the next day. Download speed is around 9/10 KBps most of the time as against the 32 KBps paid for. Service is at its worst. There is rarely ever any follow-up action on complaints. Most importantly, irrespective of how many complaint you lodge the overall quality of service NEVER improves. Nothing ever registers with them. This is a rip-off. Avoid Sify like the plague!

Siffy...its good

Well I had siffy in the past I used it for complete 6 months ... conection setup was quite smooth I took a package of 595 ..... the speed was tolerable ,,, but I got pissed off getting disconnected due to lan disconnection no offense with siffy ,,, their was problem with local provider ,,,, I used to mk 20 20 calls in a day .... I must say when eva there was some prob with siffy server they use to sen the engineer with 12 hrs ,,, thats great ,,howeva ,,, due to frequent disconccetion ,,, I got so irritated I cancelled my sevices ,, I tarted using tata indicom ....its great...but then I thot for broadband again ,,, I again contacted siffy ,,,, now using 795 package oure unlimited ,,, happy .... touch wood .. now they have wi-fi near my area so no prob....


its great ... but it will wrk better if they increase their speed ,,, I myself dealjg with broadband company based in uk I know in this same amount uk people are getting astest broadband ... so siffy pull up ur socks now ,,,

Sify Broad band... what a joke...

Hi All,


Just got Sify broadband installed today at home and guess what? I am using my 3 year ol' reliance handset to connect to internet. So what happened??? Nothing much, the power went out a couple of times here. Third time it went out and came back the 'Broad Band' connection went down the drain. Called up service center after waiting for an hour - ''yes sir we are looking into it'. Called up after 3 hours - ''Sir the connection is down at a local point, someone is looking into it''. I ask what's your turn around time. Twelve hours. BRILLIANT!!!! SIMPLY BRILLIANT. This is my first day of usage and I get this shit. So two power cuts a day and you can shove the 'broad band' down the stinkiest place you can think of. Oh wait there is more, I called up the third time - ''yes sir you complaint was registered at 8:30. No one called you from Sify?'' - NO. Okay sir, the connection is broken due to local fault and it will be fixed by tomorrow morning... AARRRGGGGHHHHHHH.... I DON'T NEED YOUR BROADBAND CONNECTION. Shove it up your whatever....


Internet connection by all provider all throughout has always been this lousy in India. Be it Dial-up/Cable/DSL/Broadband and we are supposedly a Software Giant!!! Daah!!! But wait you can't complain, there are other 'important' infrastructural issues to be sorted out here... yeah right....

Only someone who has been a victim of their lousy service and pathetic customer support will truly appreciate what I am talking about. This rotten-to-the-core company fails miserably on every parameter on which an ISP is supposed to deliver.

Their downtime is unbelievably bad. Chances are 3 out of 5 that you will not be successful.

Guaranteed to send your blood pressure soaring. The worst service I have ever seen in all my life! When you call, you are setting out on a long journey of time wastage. Don't say I didn't warn you. And don't think you will be able to obtain help if you stick with it. These crooks outwit you every time.


Keeping You On The Net


No such luck. The Net grinds to a halt every now on then. Try and login again. Failure!


Smooth Login


Wrong again! You will probably get a message with some crap like your account/package has expired. Call Customer Service. So go ahead, call them... and weep!


Quick Downloads


Isn't that what Broadband is all about? Not when you are with Sify! You can wait... and wait... and wait... till sudden disconnection... which, by the way, is the only thing that you can truthfully say Sify guarantees.


Bottomline: These are a bunch of despicable cheats with no principles, no basic courtesy. Don't touch them with a barge pole.


Tip: Want to subject your enemies to slow, painful, frustrating deaths? Gift them Sify Broadband subscriptions.

Sify broadband internet -World class cheaters

Dear customers and citizens of India,


Be ware of this World class cheater and fraud - Sify broadband internet service providers.


They have simply taken and holding the customers at ransom.I wonder as to how this company is alloweed to exist in this world. In fact this company has no business to operate and those who are allowing this company to operate are also in connivance to a party/league to cheat customers and all of them should be sued against 420 clause of Indian Penal code.


My experience with this company dates back to 2003 when not knowingly I had subscribed to Their broadband servuce from - SWAS- Pentahome Computer Institute of Shipra Suncity Indira Puram, Ghaziabad Tel.no 0120-2911024, Mob-09813031884 and within a few months severed all relations with sify and their fraud distributors and lost about Rs. 5000/- in the process. Reason of discontinuing the service was exteremely poor service, customer care service was hopeless, every month there had been hike in maintenance charges. They are no less than MURDERERS and need to be sued under criminal cases.


After a period of two years I was again entrapped by their ads and price innovations recently since 4th March-06 and experiencing the similar fate as of two years back with the same distributor/dealer of the world class cheater- SIFY BROADBAND INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS and their bandwagons- PENTAHOME of Shipra Suncity as within the span of 10 days we have hardly got the service for 3 days and spent Rs.2500/- so far.


There is no response or feed back of making the connection OK nor there is any effort from the Customercare fellows who are actually nothing but spineless bastards of the whole game.


It is one thing that We have been expressing our feed back but my sincere request which I made in the past also, that these feed backs should reach the erring company otherwise Mothshut.com also will be termed as the same functionery.

You Give Marketing A Bad Name

Sify Broadband represents everything that gives advertising and marketing a bad name. A perfect example of the fact that slick advertising and cool marketing for a product or service that stinks can perhaps fool all people - but only for some time.


Unfortunately, I am one of those who were fooled. ''For those who hate to wait'' they said in their tagline. Believe me, that's a bigger lie that ''I really love you, honestly.'' With Sify, it's waiting all the way... when you log on, be prepared to wait endlessly, when you call their Customer (Dis)Service Helpline, be prepared to be on hold endlessly, and when you are waiting for the Customer (Dis)Service reps to deliver on their promise of getting you connected ''within the next 30 minutes, sir'', you can wait till the cows come home!


While I normally refrain from using strong language, in this case I must be upfront enough to say that these people are complete liars. They make claims which they know they will not live up to. They make promises which they have no intention of keeping. Their Customer (Dis)Service reps make commitments which are merely tools for fobbing you off. When you deal with them, don't believe a word they say to you. All you will get are lies. Damned lies and worse.


Don't say I didn't warn you.

Sify cheaters!

I am from Goa. I switched over to Sify Broadband from Dial up, since it was cheaper. At first their line was not activated and they said my LAN card was faulty! Luckily it was under warranty so the Vendor Checked it and prooved it working. After that Sify was good for some time. I took an unlimited 64Kbps package.(150MB Day limit, Night-Unlimited). I payed Rs.2000 for installation(non-refundable). Then for long time I couldn't connect due to some ''Local Connectivity problem''(error BB101) Then it worked fine(after 10 days). Now their Day speed is OK, But in the Night the speed is negligible. For 10 hours I got only 20MB downloaded! sometimes it doesn't log-in at all at night. We called up their Customer care(Chennai) but they are idiots. Don't Go for Sify, their Service is terrible So choose wisely, don't fall prey to dirty tricks. And One thing I forgot, when u complan to them they give an error no. They say at the end of the month to report all the errors and we will refund the no. of days. When we gave them the error nos. they said ''we can give only upto 3 days'' I argued with them that their service was down for more than 10 days. All the people in the buildings around me are also very angry about sify. So we don't recommend Sify!!!

1st things 1st, I was absolutely shocked when I read devilshawn's review abt sify.come it's not so bad, it isn't bad @ all ! ;) , I don't know what sify's doing in mumbai but it's absolutely good in b'lore , where I live. I too had a dial up connection (sify gold) , but unlike devil , the reason I upgraded 2 broadband was bcoz of SKYPE, I needed 2 talk 2 many of my pals in the US & UK , & v used 2 spend abt 400 to 500 rs. every month on international calls & then I thought WHY NOT SKYPE ?!, unlike the plans that devil is talking about, i've a 64 kbps connection , the download limit is 150mb per day which is from 8am to 10pm & unlimited after that , which i've never breached inspite of downloading so much on some occassions. & the download speed is 7kbps to 12kbps , ma kasam , sometimes i've had 140kbps!! . & FOR GOD'S SAKE PEOPLE , 'KBPS' STANDS FOR 'KILO BITS PER SECOND' AND NOT 'KILO BYTES PER SECOND' , so if i've a download speed of


7kbps, that's actually more than what i've subscribed for, isn't it? AND ALL THIS FOR JUST RS. 495=00 PER MONTH. and when I had a problem and was not online for almost 4-5 days, I got a free unlimited pack for 7 days.Think it over , sify's good. at least in bangalore.

I installed sify broadband in my house in may 2004 in new delhi. At that time sify was pretty new in the broadband market. I got disconnection problems once in every week and the service was downright terrible. I hated it. I scolded the customer support executive for providing me such terrible service. I had lost faith in sify broadband. But their packages were competitively priced and provided good performance. But things have changed now. Since one year I have not had any problems whatsoever. And the customer support is awesome. I never call the customer support. Just call your cable operator who has provided you the connection and he would come the same day to fix the problem. Great. It is so much improved now I didn't expected it to be that way. My PC got disconnected just a week ago and it was the first time in 4 months! Wow! And they fixed it the same day as well.


Now I will discuss about their packages. It comes in different speeds starting from 64 kbps to 256 kbps in unlimited, limited and hourly basis. They deliver exactly as they say. For eg. 256 kbps unlimited connection gave me d/l speed of around 30-31 kbps. So no problems here. 64 kbps is enough if you want to just do some casual surfing and minor downloading. For heavy downloaders there is 256 kbps package. But it has a download limit of 150MB in a day 8 AM to 10 PM) and unlimted download from 10 PM to 8 AM which is one of a kind thing in any ISP. This is where I feel sify sucks. You'll have to leave your PC on overnight if you have to download those movies or games.


Overall: It disappointed me when I bought it initially but I have a big smile on my face now. I love my sify connection. It never lets me down. I will give it 4 stars because of the 150 MB download limit in a day otherwise it is worthy of 5 stars. Customer support is almost excellent. People used to hate it I know that but it has improved a lot.

Another Fool Licking His Wounds

Yes, that's me - a real sucker. I too am one of those idiots who fell for all those fancy billboards, banners and ads, and went ahead with a Sify Broadband connection. It isn't a CONnection, it's a CON.


Same old story. Guy comes, takes the money for X metres of cabling plus installation plus first month's rental blah blah blah... Since this has happened to me for the fourth time (like I said, I am the King of Suckers), I think this is the REAL business model - make money from the cabling and initial deposit/payment... and scoot!


Well, my troubles started from the very first month. Couldn't log on to the server most of the time, so much for Broadband! Have any of you ever tried calling the Sify Helpline? It's designed for extreme frustration. Great strategy, that one. Ensure that your customers die of high blood pressure and burst arteries so that they automatically stop complaining after some time. Jokes apart, the Sify Helpline is a shady, shadowy organisation where Customer Service Executive Number 2 has no clue as to what Customer Service Executive Number 1 promised you barely fifteen minutes ago! It's quite a bit like beating your head against a wall. Only worse, since you are incurring phone call expenses in doing so.


For four months, I was told that my connection would be up and working ''in the next hour''. Ultimately, I just stopped calling. When you realise that the party on the other side is fraudulent, you just back off. What's that you said? Legal recourse? Hey folks, this is India, remember?


One good outcome of all this was that I finally learnt my lesson. After four bad decisions, I stopped looking for a decent ISP, much like a fellow who stops seeking solace in marriage after enduring four terrible wives. Today, I am with good old MTNL. The service? It's awful! The speed? Worse! But hey, at least they aren't trying to cheat me. For now, that's good enough for me.

Sify Broad - ?? Band

After 4 years of using different Internet Connections like BSNL dial-up, Satyam and Dishnet Dial-up and then to AirTel GPRS I never was quite satisified with the quality of service of any of the providers. Then what seemed to a inevitable wait for BSNL broadband, I finally applied and got a Sify broadband connection after a month. Sify's broadband plans are various but I decided to go for 64 Kbps unlimited data transfer plan for Rs.495/- per month. To say the least I wasnt expecting a big leap from a 56K dial-up connection but I was disappointed that it didnt do better than a dial-up connection. And to make the matters worse the supposed to be Sify technicians didnt know a single thing about Network connectivity. Within first 2 weeks I was experiencing connectivity problems. Problems which started to creep up once a week now became daily problems.


The quality of network cables used and the level of service provided is very disappointing, but since there is nor competitor in my town they take things for granted. And I also think the government has a rule that a minimum broadband connection is supposed to be 128 Kbps so how they manage to give 64 Kbps is a mystery to me.It is actually a sad situation for India which is supposed to be a IT super power.


To sum the main pros and cons of Sify broadband

Simply Useless

I use internet a lot in my office. But didn't go for internet in my home because there was no affordable UNlimited package. One day a Sify Sales person came to my apartment giving me a brochure of Sify Broadband saying they provide 64kbps unlimited. I asked him so many times that this is true and he was very sure about that.


After I said go ahead for the connection a local cable operator came and done the connection, Zooom the sify guy dissappeared..


After using the connection I came to know that its ''NOT UNLIMITED'' But 150 MB per day also 1 day validitity will be cut for every 10MB..That means if we use 440 MB on the first day. your 30 day validity package will vaporize. Like what we Did :(.


Also the Support is simply S*#T. They are totally un professional.


Finally I was using this for quite sometime coz I did want to lose my 3500 installation charges. month before last month the CTO(Funny! its Cable TV Operator) who is incharge of the local cabling demanded 100 Rs for the maintanance..(which he never does in time). I said no..and that stupid guy unpluged my connection in router. Thats it end of story. No response from that guy sify customer care every day said that the connection will be restored ''tommorrow'' every time I call. I finally I spoke to the supervisor of the customer care team and he made the big statement ''SIFY DEPENDS ON LOCAL CABLE TV OPERATOR'' so he cant help. last 2 months iam back to squre one.Choosing SIFY is the biggest mistake I have done.

I have switched over to Dataone Broadband Home 500 Plan [1 GB] Free.


Iam using this for alleast 4 months now. ''0'' Downtime So far. Speed is preety decent. Above all when they say 2:00 am - 8:00 am unlimited. ITS IS UNLIMITED.


So I recommend any of you using Sify can switch to Dataone. Dont worry about the installation charges. Its is free if you have a BSNL Landline Connection. And modem is also preety cheap [Rs.1200]. my initial cost was 1200 +10 for the patch cable.

Unguaranted connection

FRIENDS IF U ARE SERIOUSLY THINKING OF TAKING AN INTERNET CONNECTION, PLS DO NOT EVEN THINK OF TAKING AN SIFY BROAD BAND CONNECTION.


I AM A USER OF SIFY BROAD BAND INTERNET CONNECTION AND HAVE FACED LOTS OF PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF THEM.


TO START WITH I HAD TAKEN A CONNECTION LAST YEAR SOME WHERE IN JULY OR AUGUST, AS SOON AS I WAS CONNECTED MY PC WAS LOADED WITH VIRUS AND HAD TO FORMAT MY PC. THEY DID NOT EVEN BORTHER TO CHECK AGAIN IF I WAS CONNECTED, AND THEN AFTER CHASING THEIR SALES REP. FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND LITERALLY ABUSING THEM, FINALLY THEY CAME AFTER A LONG TIME, BY THE TIME I HAD TO CALL AND OUTSIDE ENGINEER AND GET THE PROBLEM SORTED BY MY SELF. THINGS WERE FINE WITH THE TRIAL PACK OF ONE WEEK AND THEN I GOT ACTUALLY CONNECTED WITH THE RS.500/- MONTHLY UNLIMITED PACK.


DURING HEAVY RAINS THERE USED TO BE NO CONNECTION AT ALL, AND HAD TO CALL THE LOCAL DISTRIBUTER (ACE NET- BHAYANDAR) SEVERAL TIMES, TO CHECK IT OUT. AFTER THAT EVERY NOW AND THEN THERE IS OFTEN NO CONNECTION AT ALL


AFTER THAT NOW IN JAN AFTER PAYING FOR THE MONTH OF FEBUARY 2006 ON THE 25TH THE PROBLEM STARTED GETTING WORST


WHERE THE CONNECTED GOT AUTOMATICALLY DISCONNECTED AFTER EVERY 2 HOURS AND DID NOT RETURN. I HAD TO BEG THE DISTRIBUTORS TO CHECK THE LINE , SINCE I USE THE INTERNET FOR MY JOB, I RELY HEAVLY ON THE INTERNET, NO CONNECTION , NO JOB FOR ME, I LOST MY PEACE OVER THE CONNECTION AND CALLING EVERY HOUR TO SIFY CUSTOMER CARE AND THE DISTRIBUTORS.


AND THEN ONE DAY IT STARTED WORKING AND AGAIN THERE WAS LITERALLY NO CONNECTION FOR SEVERAL DAYS , AND THE SIFY ENGINEERS TOOK NEARLY 4 DAYS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AGAIN AFTER THAT TILL DATE THERE ARE OFTEN NO CONNECTION AND IT TAKES THEM DAYS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.


SO IF U ARE PLANNING TO GET CONNECTED PLS CHECK THIS REVIEW SERIOUSLY


THEIR SERVICES ARE REALLY BULL SHIT. MY EMAILS SENT TO THEM AT CUSTOMERCARE TILL DATE HAVE NOT BEEN REPLIED


MY ANGUISH WILL CONTINUE AND END ONLY IF I GET A NEW SERIVICE PROVIDER

Sify Broadband - Excellent Speed & Stability

I am using Sify Broadband connection in Chennai for last few months. I have a Night Pack of 256K for Rs 545/-. Which I feel pretty reasonable given the fact that they provide 256k pure BW. Where as most of the ISPs while promise for 256 / 512 K speed but in reality due to their Internet gateway congestion they can ends up giving u less then 50% of their commited bandwidth. I strongly recommend their service.


Additional advantage of this connectivity is that u get the fastest download from India's only true broadband portal https://sifymax.com because thats hosted in Sify network itself.


In the support front also they are excellent. When I had a virus problem in my PC, though it was not their headache, they came out of the way, they sent engineer to my home to get my PC rectified and helped me to enhance my internet browsing speed.


They also provide Industry leader TrendMicro Antivirus totally free of cost. And it doesn't end here, they provide continuous update for the same.


The only rare ocassion when u can feel bad about Sify Broadband connection is when ur Cable guy (Sify provides Broadband connection to homes through Cable TV Operators) takes time for provisioning physical connectivity. Rest everything is fully automated.

I have been using this ISP for over a year now. Installation is cheap - 1200 odd bucks. I have the night unlimited plan - 256 kbps. I manage to get 28-32 KBps - thats around 240 kbs, so I cant complain that their speed is slow. Plus I can use the net all day on sat and sun. No download limit at night. All for 550 bucks!


Initially, their server used to go down once every couple of weeks or so, but that never happens nowdays.


My main complaint is that it stops working whenever the electricity goes off. I guess its not a problem if you are using a desktop, but if you use a laptop like I do, well, that's just too bad.


Another problem is that a process called bbimpsec loads whenever the dialer is launched. This process is a major cpu hog, adding 15-20% to the processor's utilisation.

Big time cheaters!

After being away from my home for a very long time, when I came back, there was a flyer in my house saying that I can get a Sify Broadband connection with free installation! I called the number on the flyer and the guy promptly came to my home. Well, he says the installation is not free, it's 299, which was fine too. Filled the form gave the check and then all hell broke loose!


The guy promised me a connection in 5 days. It's been over 2 months, still waiting. I called them up several times and after forwarding my call 2-3 times every time I call, I either get a voicemail which no one has courtesy to monitor or if I am lucky enough I get a person who promises me something like ''I'll get the connection in 2 days'' or ''I will forward this complaint to the highest level and someone will contact you within one day''. Of course nothing happens.


Now I am thinking of getting an MTNL landline and subscribing for Triband. Other MS reviewers seem to be happy with Triband.


I would recommend you to stay away from this provider - I just don't understand why they don't want to sell their product to customers!

SIFY BROADBAND SUCKS

I have been using sify broadband for past 6 months and believe me its the worst broadband I have ever used. I move from reliance to sify for faster speed and avalibility but to my surprise sify service is many time unavaliable.


I really doubt if sify is serious about customer care aslo, becasue being fedup with the quality of serivce I escalete it to the top management of sify, but my problem of inconsitency still continues with sify after 6 months. I am not a perfectionist , but I do expect a level of service avalibiity .


For past 6 month I have been complaining but the stauts doesnot have to changed other than creditng me sometime for lost time. I have started recording the compliaints and making a note of the complaints I am making. Many times I have stopped complianing . I am sharing the numer of complaints I have made to sify in past 1 month for benefit of all readers.

Hey ppl


I read some reviews on broad band service providers..so I thought let me put something in this category.........I am a sify subscriber.....so get ready to hear a tale.......


I was on dail up but that wasnt easy on my pockets..killing phone bills and limited access .....so finally after getting lots of threats from my mum (I always used to block her calls keeping phone busy!!!!) I decide to go BB........I hadnt any idea abt BB then but sify was is and I guss will be the sole ISP in my area .......so I went to the outlet to collect info.....


THE SIFY OUTLET:


As I went in this creepy full of wires and lan cards and dust lying around..there was a lady on desk I said I want Info ..after lot of waiting finally she said ''u hav lan card''..me ''no''..she''then 2000 for installation and package as u choose it !!!!!!!! + 100 rupees service charge''..........


For a moment I said nothing then came out of there......the reason fot that was a year b4 this when sify was launched newly its installation without lancard was 1500 and now instead of decreasing the price is increased !!!!!!!!!!!!! ok not affordable.....


PART 2 :


Again after 2 monts I went in the same place this time I was given a new list of packages (of course more expensive then b4 and many small packages dropped !!!!!!)the price though was 2500 without lan card !!!!!!!!!!!!!! again back out....then I visited the outlet abt 6 times all times I had to face the lady and couldnt really get to meet the owner !!!!!


PART 3:


After abt 6 monts I heard that sify had totally removed the 40kbps pack which came at abt 350 in all (including 100 rupees maintenance !!!!!).....I asked the help centre who after transfering my call to various ppl finally said ''we hav closed it for all not just u !!!!!!!!!!'' thanks for ur kind response sify !!!!!!! ....two questions:


1.How can u trust a company who keeps on changing its services without any reason or pre notice ????????


2.How would u expect quality service from a company for whome a customer is not more than a piece of junk ?????????


well I decide I will get the connection for not more than 1000 and get a lancard of my own ....!!!!! or wait till I get it my way !!!!!!


FINAL CHAPTER 1(not really):


Finally at this last year diwali a sales person from sify came to my door steps asking if I am intrested in subscribing...this was my chance....I called him in and really fought questioning his company reliability as they go on changing packages........once u get a connection the money for installation is lost and ur forced to take what packages they offer....more over I am a student and cant afford 1000 bucks or something monthly for net usage common !!!!!!!!..so he said ok he will get me installation at lower price as a special diwali scheme is going on !!!!!!!!! ok thats it success at last !!!!!!!but it wasnt over yet !!!!!!!!


FINAL CHAPTER 2:


The sify franchisee of my area wasnt keen on giving me the installation on the price decided by the sales person of sify......i spent abt 20 days just waiting for the franchisee ppl to confirm with the sales person if he has promised such thing ...........that implies worst customer care from sify !!!!!!!..ne ways I got connected..my way but still am not satisfied for following reasons :


1.100 rupees maintenance per month for what ?? a unshielded twisted pair cable which is what I


got ????


2.I hav a linux engine so I had to do the sify software installation as the so called n/w engineer


was a dumb person knowing nothing abt it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


3.According to my friends experiences during rainy season the network switches are always


down which meansno network at all in rainy seasons..I will hav to see for it !!!!


4.As all BB services the speed I get is not whooping !!!!!!! though I am on 64 kbps the speed is abt


30 may b for surfing and 10 for downloading..its ok though I am happy with it so far !!!!!!!!!!!!


5 Last but not least though my package is unlimited there is download limit of 150MB per day ..not


knowing abt it I used my first pack and finished it in mere 5 days yess 5 GB downloaded day


and night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............thank u !!!!!!


Let me conclude that no matter what india is developing in the field on internet and its gonna increase no doubt but for now the BB defination from my point of view is ''Dailup connection on limited pay which enables 24 hrs connectivity but limited download !!!!!!!!''........also sify has to increase its attention on customer care and quality of service it provides.........


GOODS----I would say sify is comparitively cheaper least in my area it is 500 for 64kbps


unlimited....scores on cheapness only


BADs-------for bads refer the above rvu its all bads build up together !!!!!!!!!!


Overall I am happy so far as I got my connection in my budget (lucky me..) but lots needed to improve..still I would recommend sify for its mere cheapness and for students like me who cannot afford BB (defined 256kbps and above with whopping speed and nonstop connectivity)..its a cheaper option for net !!!!!!!!!

Extremely satisfied, In fact its great!

Hi,


First of all, I must straightaway say that I'm not saying most of the other reviewers are wrong.. but I definitely feel that Sify is copping the blame for the faults of the local providers, the guys who run the network in your area, do the installations etc.


Im in Navi Mumbai, Koparkhairane, and got my connection from SSV cable. Previously I used Iqara from Aashish cable. Theirs was the best service, 128kbps, 500 mb a month at 550 rupees. But I used use 2 packages per month usually, and couldnt download much stuff. The speed was great, and 99.99% uptime, but the mb cap was limiting.


So I switched to Sifys unlimited plan, 64kbps at 400/month. Its great!


SSV did take 3 weeks to make the connection, but that was because no one in my area had a sify connection already, hence they had to draw all the lines from scratch.


Once installed, its worked very well. Speeds are 64, less compared to my previous 128 from iqara, but its UNLIMITED !! So, not a problem :)


Its been down just twice for 2 hours each at night in 3 weeks of usage so far.


So, what I really feel is that if any people have had bad experiences, its because of the provider (cable operator, telecom provider etc), and not sify themselves. I've downloaded shitloads of stuff so far, and no hiccups. They even provide free licensed trend Micro AV if you dont have an AV installed.


Only thing I have a problem with is download speeds not crossing 12-14 kbps.


Also, you can upgrade the unlimited package to 128kbps, 256kbps etc for more monthly charges, which is a great benefit !
