This is Ultra time pass and a very good movie to watch out for - whenever you are getting bored. I watched it just like that on a week day since it was coming in the
evening on some movie channel - had got nothing to do.
Let me tell you offhand - for emotional people this is a treat - you better sit with your hanky around as this has many emotional situations wherein you would feel very sad for Dev or for Priya and even for Raj for his sacrificing and caring attitude.
Characters :
This movie revolves around the character Dev Karan Singh(Played by Aamir Khan) - who is an Artist more like a play boy in the real life. He fells for every beautiful girl around. With a careless attitude towards life.
Priya(Played by Manisha Koirala) - She is an Orphan. Who is Committed to Raj and is planning to get married to him soon.
Raj(Played by Anil Kapoor) who is a Savior of Priya - helps her out in every aspect. Plays the Jolly best friend. Very committed to Priya.
Story :
The story goes like this, our Casanova fried Dev meets priya in a Cruise to some island (Don?t know what part of world they were going) - he was going to meet her Grand Mother who stays in that Island. Priya being going for a change just like that meets him and finds him Interested in every girl around. he is shown as a very lively person and a very good painter. He takes her help in vooing a girl in the cruise.
She starts liking him during the course of the journey after knowing all about his personal life, his whims and fancies. She likes him more for loving his Grand Mother.
But she never tells him that since she is committed to Raj.
Dev is very casual about relationship, who believes that he can never stick to one person in life. But he doesn't know that his life is going to change very soon.
The moment priya delivers that line (Top of the review). She does confesses her love to him and promises him to meet him after 6 months from that date (Which Coincidentally happens to be Valentine?s day) at Gate Way of India - Mumbai. They agree that if they still love each other even after six months - without even meeting or talking - than they shall get married. But if one of them would not turn up on that particular day - than they promise that the other one will never question the first one - With this promise they depart.
Until Dev met priya he was going Cool with his last girl friend - Daughter of a Millionaire. He is in a lot of Debts, which he can?t pay back if he doesn?t marries her. But just like a typical love stricken Bollywood hero does in all the lovie dovie movies - Dev also does the same. But let me tell you - he does it with Grace. He paints the Speed Breakers and makes money to buy a canvas - than paints Priya in the canvas. Makes good money. Becomes rich. Achieves the status as well.
Climax :The D Day arrives. They are very excited about the meeting. Dev goes to Gate Way with full preparations of marriage. While coming to meet Dev priya mets an accident and looses her legs. Dev waits for her full day and goes back
to his home with a broken heart. He plans to go back to his grand mothers home (Who is no more) to spend the rest of his life. But before he leaves he has got one task to be fulfilled. which happens to be a gift from his granny to Priya.
Will Dev Get Priya ?
What happens to Priya's commitment to Raj ?
If you want to know the answers of these questions- U've gotta watch the movie. As I don?t want to spoil the things for those who have not seen it.
