WD My Passport 1 TB Wired External Hard Disk Drive

Its very good product, since one and half year I am using this. Transferring speed is good. I get 60mbps speed many times.

Was gifted to me by my Sister from Canada.

Product I am having is "WD My Passport" 1TB(931GB usable) black colour one and the design is good and Handy and not that big.

Having been using this from 3 years for offline backup of my photos, videos, important Documents etc.

Size is approximately 11cmx8cmx1.3cm and the wire length is 40-50 cm.

One of the good features I found is that They offer free software for controlling the HDD like Password encryption, error checking and formatting.

The speed are also fast, the fastest I experienced while transferring from HDD to My Passport HDD(and vice versa)is 70-80MBPS

While on the other hand from My Passport HDD to Solid State Drive(SSD) and vice versa is 100-110 MBPS.

Note:Dont confuse between bit and byte, the above mentioned is Bytes

I have used it even in TV, Mobile via OTG but it doesn't recognise in our MapMyIndia device in the car.

Best part is that I did not have to install any drivers to use it.

It's been sometime now that I have bought this wired hard disk. Initially it was working good. So to keep it that way I bought a safety case for it. Today both are useless.

Problems -

1. The drive's data transfer rate between devices was already much slower than expected.

2. The main reason I bought this device was that it can withstand shocks and was more safe than others with good warranty period. But it turned badly as the hard drive was broke without any logical explanation. It just stopped working 1 day.

3. Whenever I tried connecting. It was making some sound like it's moving parts are stuck and disk can't rotate.

4. The device was not even showing in computer.

5. I checked website for any troubleshooting help. But it was in vain too. No valid information was available.

6. As my device was in warranty so I decided to put up mail and tell them to help.

7. The response was very late. They took almost a month to response and gave some non working ideas to troubleshoot it that I have already done.

8. I still decided to go ahead and replied that none of it works and shared a screenshot. They also asked me to tell me on which operating system am I using it on? I told Linux. And they replied that they are not sure about the problem.

9. From the very 1st mail I tried to tell that there is some issue in the drive's hardware and they were neglecting and looking for problem in software.

10. Not to mention all those late email replies which do not provided any help. Finally I was fed up and decided that my money was lost.

I would personally not recommend this product as my experience with product and service was way below expectation. Maybe that is the reason I haven't seen anyone using a wd's hard disk.

I purchased it on 2nd may 2019 and it got delivered on 6th may 2019 , so I am using this hard disk as my primary storage device for past 1 year that's why I consider myself to review this solid state disk drve commonly known as SSD. Before giving it's review let me tell u the difference between Hard disk and solid state disk , hard disk actually has some rotating parts in it , so when it stores data that rotating parts rotates that's why some times when u do work in your laptop like transferring files and if your laptop has hard disk we can feel that rotation of hard disk and still its rotating it is consuming energy that's why transfer process gets slower but in case of solid state disk drive it doesn't have any rotating parts in it, so that's why it gives far better speed and consumes less time and makes file transfer , When I replaced my hard disk with solid state disk drive I can tell the difference straight way because earler my laptop takes 30 to 60 seconds to boot up but with solid state disk drive it takes only 10 seconds.

Now that you had understood the difference now I will review it and my parameters according to its usage will be speed, cost , usage and battery efficiency.

So in first parameter its file transfer speed is very high than your standard hard disk drives it gives me 70 to 100 MBPS transfer speed and its more than enough for me. Cost is the main factor because this type of assessories are very much costlier but I am giving u a suggestion there don't buy this offline because in offline markets u will get ot for around 1k above as in online market and there are lots of offers in online market also , so wait for the offers and buy from there. Day to day usage is smooth no lags seen and it consumes less battery due to the absence of rotating parts.

Golden tip for persons using old laptops of u really want to speed up the performance of your laptop replace hard disk with solid state disk and if you want to do more then u can expand your RAM also some laptops had that option, I will tell you about that in the later review, till then thanks .

It was reaonable best product and use full thing for efficency storage purpose and taken anyware any place comfortable to all using this hard disc so much help and entertaiment like storage of movies , songs , pics, games , pc softwares, educations , projects , books pdf, ppts a out projects seminars it will usefull all those things

I am lucky that I had got a discount at the time I purched the WD My Passport hard disk. I had purchased the 1TB version.

The main thing that I loved about this Hard disk was that you can protect it with password and next time you plugin, only you can get through it.

They have auto backup into the cloud facility available which eradicates the fear of loosing the data.

The reading and writing into the hard disk is a piece of cake believe me it is damn fast.

And now as I have mentioned in the title it self, it is tiny and light weighed which consumes less space and you can fit it in your pocket. According to me the looks are sexy.

This is the best deal you can get among any other hard disks.

I like the product as it offers a fast and quick connection while data transfer it is also durable used it while 2 to 3 moths also used so many harddisk this is one of the best it also connects with my android but struggle in connecting in TV but still will recommend to many people as it comes with a password protection as most hard-disk dont offer at this price

I have been using this hard disk for about 6 months and I have got to say this hard disk from "WD" is simply amazing.I used many other hard disks and could not trust any of them and I have lost a lot of files due to hard disk complaints.So I though of trying "WD" and it did not disappoint me till now.I have not faced a single complaint till now, so u could definitely place your trust on this product and make a move.

BUT SOME TIMES ON TRANSFER LARGER FILES HDD GETS HEATED UP.

MINE WAS 80 TO 100 MBPS i.e 80 MBPS WAS AVERAGE.

2)BUILD QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. FULLY PLASTIC

3) NO SEPARATE POWER CONNECTION. ONLY ONE SINGLE USB CORD 3.0 TYPE

CONS:

NOT BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO HS BEEN SEARCHING FOR ARMOUR TYPE PRODUCT

THAT IS I THINK FOR PRICE R.S 3800 HDD IS REALLY VERY GOOD.

CONS ARE LESS IN COMPARE TO PROS.

MEANS BETTER MAKE.

I bought this hdd sinc 6 mnth ago.and since its been working fine, its copying speed is much better and with this I can easily upload and downlaod data as per my needs but it has only one draback that it sometime got slow in copying huge files.though its a worh buying product

Hello guys. Today I am going to review WD My Passport 1 TB extetnal hard disk which I purchased 1 month ago( Blue colour) .At first, the read and write speed is less but after using it I get

Read speed -> 100 - 130 mbps

Write speed ->70 -100mbps using USB 3.0.

I like its design and colour very much.overall this product is awesome and you can buy it under 4k.

Hello friends I want to review this hard disk WD my passport this is 1TB hard disk and I buy this hard disc from flipkart.com at 3999 this is very good hard disk for business use I use this hard disk from storing movies and I have a cyber cafe and I use hard disk everyday but does not connect it and stores above 545 GB but it does not show any notification of system and it is not hang and reading speed is very very good in this hard disk it looks like a small mobile 4 inches very very good made from WD if you are searching for good harddisk value for money then you can buy this

I chose this product seeing its size and design. I felt its design as super stylish and size as so handy. I opted for blue color as it was more stylish ( personal) .

It comes with a USB 3.0 cable and delivers a data tranfer speed of 90 MB/s in normal processors and even 120MB/s in i7 and usb 3.0 processors.

Its very light weight( 160gms) . It provides a 3 year limited warranty which I am not so satisfied. It was worth the price I felt when I bought it an year back. It has a great build quality.

It also comes with many data security options like WD hard drive encryption, data backup and password protection.

A decent product within a price range of 5k.

I bought this product from Amazon and price of 4099.

when I received this product it was a defective piece.

The look and design seems to be unique and The Bright colours on this is new in hard disc segment , but the piece that I received was not even getting connected to any of the laptops or PC's.

After ordering a replacement the new piece was delivered and after using it the I felt that vibrations in the hard disk were less.

but WD elements that is same from the house of WD and is around hundred to 200 rupees cheaper than wd passport has a similar performance except a few special apps that needed to be installed .

passport doesn't feel quite well and does not signify the extra hundred 200 rupees until and unless you are quite fascinated about the look of your hard disk!

Western Digital is one of the most trusted brand in the feild of HARD DISK DRIVES. My Passport by WD is a new EXTERNAL HDD.

In this HDD they offer lots of good features. These features include SLIM & SLEEK DESIGN of the HDD. This HDD weights only 250g which is lighter than other available HDD. They have given a all new design which really looks good.

But If we talk about its pricing, we feel that it is bit higher than the actual price should be. This External HDD is available online at Rs.6499,

But paying Rs.6499 for JUST 1TB HDD feels bit higher. It really doesn’t matter how the HDD looks like but the quailty with Price is all what matters.

Their pricing should not be above Rs.5000. There are many other HDD available which are similar to it but pricing of those HDD is less as compared to this one. I think there should be Price-cut in this HDD so that it will attract more and more buyers.

It is good in design and it has one disadvantage that it take slow to copy/move files in computer it is easy to carry any where and it has three colors red, black blue and orange it is available online and offline and iam using from 7 months and it take too much time to copy the files and it is in small in size which is very comfortable to carry I aming black colour I have purchased from amazon i

Hai I have used this WD My Passort 1 TB HDD I am not satisfied with is product its very pathetic experience with it.

Its biggest problem gets too much heated in a very shot interval of times. So it is not at all reliable and this performance is average and customer services is very bad they are not suportive.

The HDD Style and look like very good awesome but overall this is not a value for money. The HDD is very bulky in size it is very hard to carry. Some times automatically restarted my laptop.

So finally I am not recommend this WD 1 TD HDD
