I purchased my blackberry curve 8900 on a contract of a month from Orange. The phone itself is slightly larger than the pearl but is much more simpler to use. It comes with a handy pouch which stops it from getting scratched.
Surfing the web is easy and google is quick to load. The only problem is playing videos on you tube, they dont seem to work very well. The camera is 3.5 mega pixel and is ok for taking pictures as is the video camera for taking films. The only problem is their is no zoom on the video camera. Also it includes a voice not recorder. The button layout is very simple to use although it could prove difficult for someone with large fingers. The ball which you can use to scroll is handy and saves constantly pressing keys with your fingers, you simply slide your finger. The only thing I don't like is when I turn the phone off at night it takes a while to switch off which is rather annoying. And when charging the light is quite bright if your trying to sleep at night.
Overall an excellent phone and is better than an iphone.
