Today I am at a very comfortable position financially too, thanks to myself being wife of a well settled government employee.
But it was not the case during my childhood years when my father was the only breadwinner as a Sepoy in the Indian Army. His father died when he was just 10 years old. Along with his wife and siblings he had to take care of his two younger brothers too who were studying in a collage. The money left was fast depleting when he too was desperate for a job.
I came to know that he even worked as a casual labourer in Railways just to have little bucks for the survival of his family. He had been trying a lot to get a decent job. But somewhere something was missing and no job was coming to him.
This time it was ``do or die``.
There was a recruitment drive by the Indian Army in Muzzafarpur(Bihar). Under desperation he ran so fast barefooted that he was the first and much ahead of other competitors. He even crossed the assessing officer`s benches as he could not stop himself. He was selected in the EME branch of the Army and served so good with the Army that he got all the ranks in minimum time and earned a lot of respect from all over. He retired as Subedar rank and gave best possible education to me and my brother.
He made good expansion to his ancestral property which was so meagre.
You always lived like a lion papa.
I love you papa. You will always remain my hero.
