Hi All,
I am writing this tips those who wanted to spend less amount for interiors with simple interiors like kitchen baskets, bed room wardrobes, TV Units, Cots, study tables, tipoys etc., recently I have constructed the house and after a long research and meetings with couple of interiors I had decided not to go for interior designers consider the fact that they are too expensive, being a middle class my budget cannot afford to hire them, later I have decided to hire a carpentar.
1) I have hired a carpenter for labour at Rs.200/- per running sqr feet
2) All materials I have brought like Plywood, laminates, Fevicol, channels, handles all other hardware’s which is needed
3) I gave him the designs and specifications on what exactly we need, based on that I have personally went to shops with my carpenter to buy the things
4) Majority hardwares and channels I have used ebco & hittech brands they are bit expensive but worth to pay as life will be good and you will have good customer service.
Things you should note if you are using this method:
a) You must make sure to hire a good reliable carpenter I would suggest not to go for a mediator to hire carpentar there are chances you will spend extra money as the mediator will give that work to carpentar for daily wages.
b) You should spend time in roaming around shops to get the things like hardware’s ply, laminates etc.
c) Make sure you compare the prices before you buy the hardware, there are chances in big showrooms like hitech koramangala the prices will be high, I had personally visited hittech showroom in kormanagala and later the same materials I brought from another local dealer where the prices are almost 30% less.
d) Buy good plywood I have used 100% neem wood ply which will give good life, do not go for topical board or any other material, ply wood is the best for interiors as far as life is concerned.
e) Use only water proof ply for kitchens do not use the regular ply.
f) Try to use branded laminates more than 0.50mm thickness, you will get good varieties and colors, make sure you just think about your bedroom/tv unit/kitchen theme before you select your colours. Normally for kitchen Orange & light green would give good look(just my opinion)
g) Ply and laminates also try to buy from direct dealers where you get for good price, in regular shops the prices will be high they will normally take the order and get from those dealers only.
h) Try not to compromise on brands on channels, handles, locks etc. I would suggest to go for EBCO or HITTECH and use 100% SS
i) If you wanted to use any different type of kitchen units like tall units modern kitchen baskets, or sliding channels make sure you call the customer care to send the technician to help while installing the channels as the carpentar may not be clear on the drawings provided by the brands. Normally for brands like ebco or hittech the technician visit is free of cost.
j) You have to dedicate your time to monitor the work and ensure you get what you needed.
If you want the carpentar I can refer to my carpentar depends on his availability, you can reach me on 968645XXXX( pls note that my carpentar only knows Hindi).
All the best.
