Spinny Cares
Spinny is working closely with MouthShut.com to enhance customer satisfaction.
Spinny Ticket ID: #1033722,
I purchased a VW Vento Highline Diesel(KA34N4099) from Spinny with full trust in their promise of 200-point inspection and “peace of mind.” Sadly, my real experience has been the complete opposite.
Just 1600 km after purchase, the timing belt failed while I was driving with my wife and 5-month-old baby to Tanya Kids Hospital in Hassan. The car suddenly broke down on the highway near Niluvagilu, and the engine error symbol popped up. Thankfully I managed to move to the roadside safely — if there had been a speeding vehicle behind me, this could’ve been a disaster.
We were stranded in the middle of nowhere with a sick infant. It took 2 hours for a local mechanic to arrive, who confirmed the timing belt had cut and the car had to be towed. I called Spinny customer care immediately and raised a complaint. After several follow-ups, they arranged a towing vehicle, which arrived only at 5:30 PM, and my car reached the Volkswagen Service Center by 7 PM, just before they closed.
The final repair quote was ₹96, 243.
Here’s the shocker: Spinny offered only ₹25, 000, later revised to ₹55, 000, but only if I signed a legal waiver agreeing not to pursue the issue further or speak publicly. How is this ethical?
This failure happened within the 2-month/2000 km warranty, and the timing belt is clearly listed under their Powertrain Warranty. I did not misuse the vehicle in any way. Still, they are refusing to cover the full repair amount or accept proper responsibility.
Spinny promises:
“200-point quality checks”
“Only the highest quality second-hand cars”
“Peace of mind with zero compromises”
In reality, they sold me a car with a major mechanical defect, left me and my baby stranded for 7 hours, and are now trying to get away with paying only part of the cost if I agree not to speak up again.
This has completely shaken my trust in the Spinny brand. Even if they offered a free repair now, I would hesitate to hand the car over to them. That’s how poor the experience has been.
I have now raised a formal complaint with the Consumer Forum(consumerhelpline.gov.in) and will escalate to the District Consumer Forum(DCDRC) if a fair resolution isn’t provided soon.
To anyone considering Spinny — please do your own inspection, read the warranty terms very carefully, and don’t get fooled by flashy marketing. Spinny Assured? Not in my case.
