I had a frustrating experience with Spinny while trying to sell my car. I entered my vehicle details and uploaded the necessary documents, including RTO papers and insurance. A Spinny valuator visited, spent around 30–45 minutes inspecting the car and took it for a test drive. A few hours later, I received an offer along with a follow-up call. After a bit of negotiation, they slightly increased the offer and scheduled a car pick-up.
They informed me that ₹1, 000 would be deducted for the pick-up, and ₹10, 000 would be held back until a buyer is found — the rest to be paid on the spot. I agreed and even rescheduled the pick-up on a holiday, after several discussions.
As per their instructions, I uploaded personal documents — Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details. But just a day before the scheduled pick-up, they suddenly claimed the car had prior repairs(which were minor and long back), cited vague reasons related to the engine, and backed out of the deal. I requested that they provide the refusal in writing, especially after collecting all my personal documents — but they never did. They simply cancelled the scheduled pick-up without any formal communication or proper explanation.
This experience shows that Spinny is not as transparent or smooth as their ads(like the one with Sachin Tendulkar walking with flowers) suggest. I trusted them and ended up wasting my time. If they had any doubts, they should have raised them before collecting sensitive personal documents and finalising a pick-up date.
I wouldn’t recommend trusting them blindly — the process is nowhere near the “hassle-free” experience they promise.
