****I am still trying…trying to come terms with:*
Work without really working
Acting starry on MS and offline
Losing weight and not mind
Comeback on MS
*I have been unsuccessful on all these and more…but as I always say.keep trying!*
Talking about this show, I assume most of you haven’t seen it. I would also assume that even after my recommendation, some of you may never get to see it. Do not worry…take solace in the fact that you are just missing on:
Some harmless humour
Amalgamation of languages. English and Hindi with a touch of Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi etc.
Poker faced hosts who are starry eyed and obvious about it.
Guests who you genuinely may/maynot be interested in and don’t know a lot about. SRK and AB babies are nowhere near the show.
*Ranvir Vinay aur Kaun( RVAK**)is a nice frothy show. It is about people who made it big…somehow! They are TV stars, item girls, stage actors etc but no big names. Ordinary people who have extraordinary talent and are willing to talk about things which are not usually discussed on coffee shows or page three parties. The format of the show is simple, non frilly with no attachments. One-liners are thrown in at regular intervals with straight expressions and smiles are bound to come!
*Ranvir and Vinay** are both sound actors who have created their niche audience. They are at ease with themselves and do not project themselves as comedians who are here to make you laugh. They host the show together and the comic timing is perfect! They are in sync and know where exactly to take off from each other. What sets them apart is how usual they make the show…without going over the top. Ranvir has shown his acting skills in a lot of films and has proved he can perform with ease. Vinay is a theatre actor who has got accolades from none other the eternal smiling and dancing lady- Madhuri Dixit Nene! Well…in short he is good!
*The setting of the show looks casual with a very home like feel**…red couches which double as bed( with item girls!) work out well…to familiarise the audience on grave, soul stirring topics like casting couches! It shows life as is…a tangy mix of good and bad, evil and funny, harmless and harmful…!
Not sure if some of you have been watching the **“Great Indian Comedy Show”** which had comedy gags thrown in with stand up comedians. RVAK is on the same lines…the same stand up comedians play up gags and it is a treat to watch some of the sillier ones which are awfully stupid and humorous but yet not crude or vulgar. Since it is a **chat based show**, the main onus of the hosts is to chat up with the “Kaun” …to avoid an overdose of the guest-host stories; these gags provide a welcome respite!
*What more…to end it all…it is a daily dose of fun and masti…sprinkle in some trivia about the known and unknown faces…and voila.you are ready for a good night sleep!*
*And…and*
The title sequence reminds me of the good old DD public awareness ads…comic characters and a funny innocent track…remember **“ek chidiya…anek chidiya…! “*
