My mother passed away in a painful, traumatic, and undignified manner at Paras Hospital. Please do not bring your loved ones here in an emergency or agree to ventilator support. Their priority is never saving lives but forcing ventilators at any cost. From the moment we entered the emergency department, the doctors were unprofessional and rude. The medical team involved in this ordeal included Dr. Anurag Sharma, Dr. Karan Dang, Dr. Shivam, Dr. Karishma, Dr. Dheeraj, Dr. Ankit, Dr. Amandeep, a woman anesthetist, and the ventilator technician.
She was admitted with high CO2 levels and placed on BiPAP, which was helping. Yet, within 30 minutes, Dr. Dheeraj pressured us, saying, "Her BP is dropping; she needs a ventilator." We refused, as my mother never wanted it. Her BP had been normal until they gave her Dytor. Later, a ventilator technician and even hospital chairman Dr. Anurag Sharma forced for ventilator, saying, "It’s a simple procedure. Your mother doesn't understand science, but you are educated and should know there’s no risk in it. It is a simple procedure." They didn't disclose any complications of ventilator.
The next day, Dr. Ankit again pushed for ventilator. When we said we wanted to take her home, he manipulated us, saying her reports were fine and she had a 99% chance of recovery and we should give her a chance. We agreed. The moment she was intubated, her condition worsened. We were not allowed to see her. Later in the night, they told us she had pneumonia and blamed us for delaying ventilation. Actually they never checked for secretions before intubating her.
By morning, doctors avoided giving updates. Finally Dr. Dheeraj told us to take her home, saying survival chances were slim, while Dr. Anurag Sharma contradicted him, assuring us she would recover. After 48 hours, they tried removing the ventilator, causing cardiac arrest. Dr. Anurag Sharma, now rudely told us, “I’m not God. No one is immortal. Take her elsewhere if you are not satisfied with the treatment.” How can someone take the patient somewhere else with tens of tubes running into the body? We were fully trapped.
My mother passed away in extreme pain. During this time, two other senior patients had similar deaths. The hospital’s incompetence, or intentional hiding the facts took away the right of a dignified death from her. Even the final death summary was falsified.
