I had a disappointing experience at Kovai Pazhamudir Nilayam, Kotturpuram (Chennai) branch on [12th June 2025].
Out of the 5 items I purchased, 2 items were billed at higher prices than what was displayed on the store price boards:
Raw Mango:
Display Price – ??/kg
Billed Price – ??/kg
Chilli Bajji:
Display Price – ??/kg
Billed Price – ??/kg
When I questioned the difference, the staff initially admitted it was due to system not being updated because of staff shortage. They asked me to wait for some time, and I patiently waited for 15 minutes.
Later, the store in-charge changed the story, claiming the system prices were the correct ones and the display was outdated. I had to raise my voice and demand accountability. Only then was the excess amount refunded in cash.
Even though I got my refund, I’m deeply concerned about how many unsuspecting customers may have been overcharged that day without even realizing it.
This seems more than a simple error — it reflects negligence or potentially unethical practices. I have retained the invoice and photographic evidence of the displayed prices as proof.
I have also filed an official grievance on the National Consumer Helpline.
As a regular customer, this experience was very disappointing. I urge the management to:
Ensure proper system-display price sync
Maintain transparency at all times
Stop such practices that violate consumer trust
Hope necessary action is taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
