I walked into Dhanraj Jewellers (in Andheri West) expecting the usual sparkle, but what I found was kind of an expect the unexpected scenario, at least for most parts. The place’s been around since 1986, so I expected heritage glam, but some designs felt dated, not vintage-cool. Trust across Hyderabad’s Dhanraj Jain branch is off the charts, summing around 4.9 from nearly 4,000 customers, but no such love was carried forward for the Mumbai outpost. Staff in Mumbai were polite, but I didn’t feel that legendary warmth or expertise that I’ve heard makes them famous; I was left with more of a transactional feel than their said traditional. That said, if you’re after antique-style gold or pearl pieces, they’ve got the definite options, just don’t expect blockbuster vibes or show-stopping innovation. Honestly, I left thinking: solid spot for traditional shoppers who value history, but not a destination for contemporary flair or wow factor.
