My story of woe: Holiday or Horrible Day. Review on Cox and Kings, Bangalore

I had booked a'Tailor-made' package to Paris and Barcelona( 8 days / 7 nights), through Cox and Kings;  and we- my daughter and I- were to leave on the 10th of May on an early morning flight to Paris, on the Emirates.

Unfortunately, in the evening of 9th May, I fell seriously ill with a bad case of stomach upset and frequent vomiting. I took some medication, and finished with my packing and last-minute chores.

At the Bengaluru International Airport, after checking in our baggage, I suddenly felt very sick and found to my horror that I was breaking out in rashes. My stomach problem resurfaced, as a consequence of which, I felt very weak and light headed.

Standing in the queue to complete formalities, my daughter and I decided that it would be unwise to continue with the trip. We had a long flight ahead, and a pretty hectic schedule the next 8 days. Given my condition, it seemed likely that it could worsen and put all concerned into great inconvenience.

I have to mention at this point that my daughter has a locomotor disability- she moves around with the help of special shoes with rods called calipers, and uses crutches. Though she is active, she is unable to carry heavy bags etc. So going ahead with our plan was very difficult

To cut a long story short, we decided to cancel our trip.

Now to come to the nitty-gritties of refund. Our package cost us about Rs 1, 95, 000/- each.  That comes to a total of nearly Rs 4 lakhs.

Yesterday, my travel adviser informed me that we could expect a refund of about Rs 1, 50, 000/-.  I am quite upset since this works out less than 50% of my expenditure.

I know and appreciate that airlines and travel agencies have their policies and rules. And while I am very very grateful for this amount they have granted me, I earnestly request them to have a re-look at my case.

Please. Emirates, Cox and Kings.you are the leaders in your respective fields, you are the Masters of the Game. surely you can do better than give me back a measly 1, 50, 000 of my own money!
