There are two Ambers really.The parent, so to speak is in Waterloo Street.I have been there a couple of times.It was one of the first eateries in Kolkata(along with Shenaz & Peter Cat) to serve the so-called Mughlai cuisine.As one understands this food is nothing but tandoori items packaged one way or the other.Nevertheless Amber claims to be very authentic.It probably is.But the place is in Central Kolkata.Those of us who live due south, prefer the home delivery service from Amber.The original point of sale was in Southern Avenue.It has since shifted bang opposite to the first Pantaloons store to come up in India, in Gariahat.
Nevertheless the food is good value-for-money.There are certain special items.Baked Fish for instance.Then, Rogan Josh.Not to forget Reshmi Butter Masala and Masala Kulcha.The service is quite prompt.Large orders are taken.The minimum value for a order is Rs 300/-.Which means that if you order so much, they send it over without charging for delivery.Mind you there are other home delivery services here in Kolkata.But, by and large, Amber has the best service for the lowest loss of solvency.And the food, particularly the quality of ingredients is good.So there.
