Is this Alliance Broadband of Calcutta?
If yes, never take it, unless you have a lot of patience and a lot of money (for making phone calls to complain when your connection fails).
This is a cable internet connection, and prone to failure. It fails once every 3-4 days on an average.
You can call the guys and they'll respond immediately, but how often can you do this? Definitely not 20-30 times a month!! And what will you do if the connection fails in the middle of the night? You'll have to wait till 10 next morning.
I got rid of this connection after using it for about 6 months. That too in spite of having paid close to Rs.2300 for installation, which is not refundable.
The only good thing about this product is that you get nothing less than the promised speed.
If you take this product, then you can expect to have connectivity for like 20-23 days a month. A lot of people have the patience to bear with that, but I am not one of them.
In general, Internet provided by cable operators is not reliable. The better option is to go for ADSL. The best providers are BSNL and Airtel.
