AirTelwas introduced in Tamil Nadu as the fourth operator and impressed by its 'brand' and large coverage in India I took a postpaid connection almost 1 and half years ago. After almost 18 months I am ready to put out the pros and cons of AirTel
PROS
Good Voice clarity
Network is 95% good ( Sometimes signal goes off or varies)
Only operator to provide GPRS and MMS service in this circle
AirTel Masala is very useful
Friendly Customer Care executives at the Local Office
E-Bill section provides with Free detailed billing
Roaming coverage is good
Y-Mail and Y-Messenger can be accessed thru GPRS/AirTel MMS
Free Wallpaper/Greetings downloads from airtelworld.com website
CONS
Network reception inside buildings is poor ( After almost a year I get signal inside my home after they put up a tower)
VAS SMS and general SMS rates are expensive
GPRS speed and network is not good .
Billing disputes gets long time to be cleared up.
SUGGESTIONS
Can tie-up with Hotmail and Rediff like Hutch.
Can provide incentives for existing customers.
Can provide unlimited GPRS access through mobile for Rs.99/- like in other circles.
