A Death In The Gunj is one of the few Indian movies that will remain with you for sometime. Trust me you are not going to forget it soon.
I watched it yesterday and couldn't help writing about it. The film takes you to late 1970's Bihar(McCluskiegunj). The place and the people looks so authentic and real, you just gets sucked into the drama. Within half an hour Characters start to seem familiar and you effortlessly start to flow with the emotions. Screenplay is so detailed and the performances are so good that you can't help getting into the head of them. I have to mention the character of'Shutu' played by Vikrant Massey. What a casting! he is Shutu, that's all. Shutu's character is so real and relatable that you will not even know when it clicked some old dark memory of yours.
The captain of this ship is veteran actress Konkona Sen Sharma. I am a fan of her works as an actor but I didn't expect her to be this good in direction. She is meticulously good and you can't say it's a debut.
If you are ok with Bengali and English. It's a must watch.
