Total came up with different concept, where they lease out ground floor for retail shops, and set up comprehensive grocery cum departmental store on upper floors, including dining. That way, I find Total to be one of the most convenient shopping option.
I frequently visit Total @ Sarjapur Road. It has good a large space for car park. The Total Express is also a very useful concept, where, our parents can also go shopping, even if we're not around to take them there.
While I'm overall satisfied with our experience at Total, some of the things that have was not that pleasant:
The rush over the weekends is quite high, therefore, the time to complete shopping is higher. The best way is to go early (reach there by 10.30 am) with a list of items that are 'must' to purchase. We experienced once that all their shopping baskets and carts were in circulation, and we could not get a shopping cart for >1 hour.
One should carefully review the bill before leaving. At times, you may notice some billing discrepancies which you can get rectified before you leave.
While they earlier used to reimburse the parking charge, however, discontinued that later. For frequent shoppers, it's quite an unpleasant experience to pay parking every time while going for shopping. They should rather tie the parking charge reimbursement to a minimum threshold shopping. This will enhance their sales also.
Once I purshed a Neelkamal plastic item, which didn't have the company MRP. Total had put up their own label of price. After buying it, I found the same item at Spencer at ~25% less price. This clearly is a cheating practice. I bought that product from Spencers, and returned it back to Total, with highlighting the truth.
