Perfectly Consuming Medicines
May 23, 2016 03:22 PM 2992 Views

These days, almost three out of four persons suffer from one or other health issues that needs medicines to be consumed. However, consuming medicines must be done as per strict guidelines irrespective what disease one might be suffering from. Here are a few tips those I present from my own experience and that I have been a regular consumer of medicine for last 15 years or so.

1) First of all, in case of any health issue that one might be suffering from, even a minor one, the respective physician must be consulted and the medicines must be consumed as advised by the physician. It must be done with respect to the prescription issued by the doctor/physician. There are few abbreviations those appear on a prescription like OD meaning once a day, BD meaning twice a day, BBF meaning before breakfast, AF meaning after food and so on.

2) The dosage and the timing must be strictly followed. For example, if a tablet is is advised to be taken twice a day, then it must be done with an interval of exactly 12 hours and accordingly.

3) While taking a medicine, its expiry date must be verified to be valid since sometimes consuming expired medicine may be fatal or lead to severe other health issues. On finding expired medicines, it should be immediately dumped into dustbin.

4) Tablets or capsules must be taken with water only.

5) Some times doctors prescribe sachets which need to be taken after mixing with water only.

6) Medicines for external application must be used as prescribed, but after using it, hands must be cleaned well with soap since most externally applicable medicines appear to be toxic.

7) Many people consume tablets for minor issues like cold and cough which must be avoided and done with doctor's advice only.

8) Antibiotics must be consumed strictly as per doctor's advice and not a pinch more since if it is consumed more than required, then it may lead to affect internal organs, kidneys mostly.

9) In no case, a medicine prescribed by the doctor must be changed to another equivalent one as mostly pharmacists do. However, the same can be done with the consultation of the respective doctor and approved to change.

9) Oral tablets or capsules must be avoided for infants and only liquid consumable drugs must be used.

Be advised by a doctor and consume medicines and then the severest of severe diseases will go away for sure.
