I’m not the regular mushy kinda gal so when I sat down to watch this movie with an old friend, I was more interested in the popcorn than the movie.
Reese Witherspoon also plays the part of Melanie Carmichael, a successful upcoming New York Fashion Designer who gets engaged to her boyfriend Andrew who is the son of New York’s Mayor. The Mayor is very ambitious and hates the idea from the start (read: the English version of Lalita Pawar) so she decides to dig for some dirt in Melanie’s past hoping to break the engagement (ho hum)
The entire movie circles around Reese Witherspoon’s character. She finds herself in an impossible situation as she is already married and needs to get divorced before she can marry the “man of her dreams” The snag is that her boyfriend doesn’t know that… so the story unfolds… from outing her gay buddy to becoming the village skank…. She does it all…
I love one part of the movie where as kids, Withersppoon and her now husband are playing and he tells her he wants to marry her when they grow up…she asks him why…and he says “ So I can kiss you anytime I want” LOL
As cheesy as that line is… it will get most girls fawning… I can’t believe even I fell for it!
Sweet Home Alabama is not the best movie in the world… but it’s a light movie that you can watch with your friends when you have nothing better to do. The song “Sweet Home Alabama” is a hit by itself…. So if for nothing else, watch it for the tunes, Witherspoon and an adorable dog.
