Travelled this week to Beijing from Bangalore and back via Singapore. Actually, I am travelling with SQ airlines after several years again. All that I can say that over time, the airline has improved. It was already a great airline to fly about 15 years ago & this reputation has been kept intact.
What I would like to appreciate is the genuine concern and care of the cabin crew and pilots who fly the aircraft. Their cabin crew are simply the best in terms of service and only few airlines in the world- may be Emirates and Etihad parallel this great airline.
The seating space is brilliant and adequate space has been given between rows so that legs can be comfortably stretched. Their fleet is young and well maintained and has some of the best pilots.
I had opted for AV meal(South Indian) and I got it on 2 sectors- Singapore- Beijing and Singapore Bangalore- now this is called Customer service. The crew always wear a smile and are happy to serve, unlike several other major airlines, particularly the European and US carriers.
Changi airport being one of the greatest and most convenient airport in the world with its spotlessly clean interiors, hygienic toilets and great shopping areas makes us get over any feel of Jet lag during transit. The only feedback is that shopping in the Changi airport is costlier compared to Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
We flew in a Airbus 380 of the airline from Singapore to Beijing and this was a great moment- the best flight of my life till now. They have some brilliant aircraft which are well maintained and safe to fly over long distances.
Overall, there is no doubt that Singapore Airlines is one of the best. Hope Vistara(who are in collaboration with them) is able to launch long haul flights from India very soon and set new standards in India with such classy service quality.
