I was able to get my hands on the 32 GB 3GB Ram model of the new Moto G4 plus. And, it has to be said that it is quite the bang for the buck. This is a review after roughly a month of usage.
Firstly. the main specifications -
Ram - 3GB
Memory - 32 GB
Screen - 5.5 Inch with Gorilla Glass 3
Fingerprint sensor
Separate slot for two micro/nano sims(For nano sims there is a sim adapter you can use)
One separate slot for Micro SD card
Snapdragon 617 processor quad Core
16 MP / 5 MP cameras with laser focus on the primary
OS - Android Mashmallow stock android
4G Support
3000 mah battery with turbocharger*
As stated, the specifications are very modern as with most of the morotola products, and it is surely well thought out for the price range.
Lets look at some of the prominent positives -
Camera is pretty good, and the videos taken are sharp as well. Although I would have liked a little more sharpness to the images in low and artificial lights.
Stock android and processor is pretty fast. On the go updates on motorola devices are always welcome.
Fingerprint sensor is pretty responsive and have been working really well.
Separate slots for sims and micro SD card is a big plus for me.
Screen is crisp and responsive, and the color reproduction is pretty great.
Turbocharger is provided and is pretty quick to charge. Roughly 1+ hour for a full charge.
Some Cons -
The 617 processor heats up a lot, specially when charging and also when playing games for a longer duration.
The screen is not very smudge proof, so you will get a lot of grainy smudges.
I noticed sometimes the fingerprint sensor does not come up and allows you to unlock using the pattern or pin you would have added. Although it is not probably a hardware issue rather a fingerprint not recognized fallback.
Very non-appealing set of earphones. Though something I guess is better than nothing.
Some tips and points to consider -
Stock android would have a few drawbacks, viz. you would not get a restart option on power button press. So, you would have to press it twice.
Battery is decent and non removable. however, for a heavy user it might need a recharge towards the end of the day.
It is not waterproof, rather water resistant, so better to not try dipping in water.:)
The Verdict
I would say, for a minimal gamer and a moderate user, this is a great purchase, and you would be surprised and glad to have it by your size. If a little heating and slightly less battery power is not major issues for you go for it.
Else you can check out redmi note 3 or Zuk Z1.
Hope this helps you take a decision.:-)
