Last month, we decided to take a short break from the usual monotonous work life. Day 1, we visited Garuda mall, Central & strolled around Brigade Road. Day 2 we decided to spend the day at Lumbini gardens, a water-front leisure and eco-friendly boating park near the Hebbal Flyover.
We started at 10.30 AM, taking the banaswadi ring road & with a little help for directions, were able to locate the park without much ado. We paid an entry fee of Rs.30/- per head.
The park stretches over 1.5 kms along the outer ring road in Nagawara Lake, has a wave pool and Kids pool, boating facilities like pedal boats, shikaras, and coffee boats. Also there is an array of food courts and Lake Front canopy for leisure, such that we enjoy the Lake Front and food at the same time. It was relaxing to sit there for a while, enjoying a snack. The park also has creative landscaping; I liked the Horse Sculpture & the two crocodiles.
Then we took a stroll to the wave pool, the lake in the left hand side & the right hand side is a Children Play Area with Kiddy Rides, train and helicopter, vortex, Bouncy, etc.,
We had to pay an entry fee of Rs.70/- per head to enter the wave pool. The kids’ pool has two slides, which we also tried;). Then we chilled out in the wave pool. As it was a weekday, there were only a dozen people in the pool.
By now, we were quite tired & hungry, hence decided to have a meal. We ordered Pizzas, pastry and chai from coffee day. Then we went on a coffee boat ride, which was one circle around the lake for about 15 minutes. The time was 4.30 PM, and many families, especially with little children were visiting the park. We relaxed at the lake front canopy for a while & headed back. I found it almost a magical getaway within the city limits.
Go ahead & MAKE A SPLASH at Lumbini Gardens.
